    A friend had a slightly older model SAAB and this worked for him. In the owners manual there was an image and a table near the back that described all of the fuses. The fuse will be a 5 amp that says something about the ignition/steering column lock. FYI for us, reseating the fuse fixed the problem permanently (so far for a week or so). Also I was able to leave the fuse removal too clipped to the correct fuse and put the cover back on in case he has to do it later. Thanks alot!

    I haven't put in a switch (I will), but pulling the fuse enable me to start the old banger. Brilliant. I was having a bit of a bad day, and now, thanks to your fix (and the generosity of taking the time to share) I shall look like an automotive god.

    Rob black. Yeh it is in the manual which fuse for this car its the 2nd fuse down on the left row of fuses. You may only have to pull the switch once and the car will be fine but as in this case I had to keep pulling switch everytime to start which is a pain especially if you stall it or something so fitting a switch makes the problem alot easier to deal with .

    You, good sir, are a genius! May glad tidings come your way because you have made my day! I can't wait to tackle this problem on our lovely 06 9-3 that annoyingly just won't allow the key to turn. In addition to its other annoying as hell problems. As I understand it, I just need to rig a switch to de-energize that particular fused line of elec current then re-energize it, and bloody all should go bloody well!! [Laughing manically]

    Reset the position 2, 5 amp fuse in the driver side dash fuse box, key fob works, engine starts. Interim of an hour come back to locked car, key fob won't work. The fuse reset sets the CIM to true, and then after time elapse returns to false? Thoughts?

    It can be a problem on SAABs , had it myself, but battery or fuse pull will sort it out. One day it may not work though and then it's CIM replacement time, which needn't be too expensive and can even be done at home if you can get hold of a Tec2

    Looking to buy the switch on Amazon now. Can you tell me how you wired it to fuse? Or used a Fuse Splitter of some sort? Can you help me with parts please. This will work for my 9-3 Aero 2004.

    • @marcdobson1387
      @marcdobson1387 6 лет назад +2

      TheMainSilverSultan hi tbh you can get all parts from Halfords. Any switch will do, attach a wire to the switch add a small space connector to other end. Add a second wire to other side of switch attach fuse in fuse holder to wire, add 3rd wire to fuse holder and add small space connector to end of wire. Plug both spade connectors into fusebox socket makesure they not touching. You could get rid the spade connectors and wire the wires into the back of the fuse box.

    • @marcdobson1387
      @marcdobson1387 6 лет назад +1

      Autostop the idea is to reset the lock by taking the fuse out and putting it back in. The switch I added makes it more accessible so instead of removing the fuse you flip the switch and this resets the lock by deactivating the fuse. As you can imagine the fusebox is behind the passenger door and would be a pain to have to keep getting out to reset everytime you started the car.

    • @marcdobson1387
      @marcdobson1387 6 лет назад

    99% of time a poorly charged battery causes this. It happened to me. I looked at fitting a bypass switch but realized the car had not been driven for over a month. Charged the battery did the key in key out thing from the video, and off it went no problem. Been starting well ever since and i run the car once a week to keep battery charged.

    Hi everyone this shit did not work on mine, what actually worked was to disconnect the battery, wait 3-4 min and connect it again, than you should be able to start your car and drive, make sure to drive 10-20 min, if you experience the same problem than try again a couple of times and than it should work.

    How can you start the car without pressing the clutch pedal ? You bypass that too ? Fake .

      Jocelyn Da Boss. You don't need clutch down to start a car if it's not in gear.

      Marc Dobson there is normally a safety switch under the clutch ...

    Complete bullshit doesn't work when you pull that fuse no power at all to cluster or ignition at least on automatic cars

      Pull it and put it back in. The principle is to reset the module.
