    I did a button repair on the internals of a Saab-Fob. I'd recommend a set of Helping hands clips to hold the board, and a set of modeler tweezers to hold the switch while you solder. Trust me, it really makes a world of difference!

    If you press the logo on the fob it will allow the key to be removed without the risk of damaging the mechanism that holds it in place. You don’t want that fob sliding off the key while you have your keys clipped to your person.

    Carmarades! I asked for advice in a video about my car alarm triggering with no apparent cause. I gave service to the door locks where the close/open switch it's located. I made that because when I used to alarmed the car some door locks remains unlocked, so I made the proper service to the locks (cleaning, resoldering and lubricating). After serviced, car alarm continued triggering :(, so I started to close the car just with the door key. Like 1 month after, my 2006 SAAB 0-3 started to notifyme about low keyfob battery, so I changed it and, voila! Car alarm works again; no more midnight wake up to shut off the alarm. So, please change your key fob batteries when your car starts to trigger your alarm system (also do the service if door looks remain open :) )

    Did you know that normally you have to press the Saab logobutton for easier key removal.

    I have two Saabs a 2002 and 2003 9-5 linears my fobs are identical FCC ID numbers and look, trying to buy replacement fobs as mine are both worn, online says the keys are not compatible between years. 2003 fob depicted online has a groove up the center mine does not so would you suggest that i buy two 2002 fobs? Or does the line or groove make no difference? Internal electronics appear the same as well. Is it possible my 2003 car has a 2002 key fob and ignition switch? Anybody out there that has delt with a similar issue please feel free in response. Thanks in advance

    There are 2 different kind of blades, depending on a year. one has a groove in the middle and is a bit wider, one without. Also, those chinese copies, there are few of them. Some of them are completely plastic, on that blade too, so the won't desintegrate, only the color on those 4 button icons will go away. Then there are also rubber shit keys that will desintegrate even much faster than the original key. But as you can see, those chinese keys, either version, do not line up properly when the electronics and battery is inserted. So make sure you watch it, so it won't get apart and you'd lose that electronic part.
    There is also original key fob available without blade and without electronics, for far cheaper than whole key. And also whole electronic-equipped key (fob) does not costs hundreds of dollars as you said.

    Mine doesn't have the logo and I can't seem to put anything in the holes to release the key or it seems to not have a key in it I have a separate physical key

    Can you just re-program ( or overwrite the chip) these extra keys with a tech II to your master key in your saab ? Or do you need the junk cim as well?

    • @WeakestofWeeks
      @WeakestofWeeks  3 года назад

      As far as I know you cannot reprogram a key that has already been programmed. However, there are companies that can take your old CIM with missing keys and send you it back with a newly paired key.

    • @WeakestofWeeks
      @WeakestofWeeks  Год назад

      The cheaper knockoff ones are more of a hard plastic feel

      If the FOB is damaged from the outside but the electronics is good inside then we a FOB cover is available for next to nothing from ALIEXPRESS. Simply remove the board and put into the new FOB casing. Good video though.

      Most locksmiths are able to program the key for about $50 in Europe, I am sure for a similar fee locksmiths in the States can do it also. P.S. you can buy the complete remote with chip for about $20 from aliexpress

      @PeterChomanic 5 лет назад +1
