@@spencerantoniomarlen-starr3069 I was thinking more like shoehorning a look-ma-I-can-sign-like-christina-aguilara bit into the set and lingering on it for long enough to bulldoze the set's pacing.
might not be fair to either one of them, but at some point it seems like it takes a detour from comedy to masturbating and the audience, even if they're impressed, ends up just waiting for the established persona to return.
It's what a lot of "edgy" young comedians do, especially women. One thing she kind of does and I see it in a lot of younger comedians, they act like they're annoyed to be telling you the jokes. Matt Rife also has this weird style I cannot stand.
@@CakesTv1337 I think she just sounds like that. It's pretty much her normal voice and delivery if you listen to her on any podcasts. I can't say I've seen singing as a pattern among edgy young women in comedy. I feel like singing has been shoehorned into standup for decades and rarely to positive effect. To me it usually doesn't really fit into the joke, messes with the pace, and seems to rely on the audience being impressed that a non-musician can carry a tune. Works sometimes, though. Patti Harrison's Dua Lipa song is hilarious and the normal awkwardness of singing is perfect for her style.

Her joking about people calling her ugly on instagram didnt make the best first impression of what she is about (considering how unlikely that scenario is with her being so good looking), but the Dolphin analogy got me chuckling and indicated she actually was witty, and the singing, or rather the context of it solidified that she has the potential to become a really good standup in the future.
