    Good Evening Dolce. Thanks for the tips! You mentioned that you wear your hair out 98% of the time. I've worn my hair up 98% of the time for years to protect it in order to retain length. Not sure if that's working for me. If it was, I would have fairytale length hair by now! I'm going to free my hair and wear it down more often to enjoy the growth journey!

    Funny enough, you just showed me that I have not been combing my hair enough. In an effort to keep manipulation down, I have been only combing my hair once a week on wash days. No wonder my hair was always tangled 🤣 I am literally off to comb my hair!
    Your channel has been so helpful to me. Over the past year, you've seriously helped me cut off all the nonsense complicated steps and products that were weighing my hair journey down. Thank Dearie.
    BTW, I have been visiting on and off for over 1 year. I just recently decided to subscribe and start commenting so that you know how much of a help you truly are. God bless.

    Hi Dolce, I just discovered your channel yesterday, also subscribed. I have been binge watching your videos and absolutely love the content. I also love the fact that you wear your hair out just about always, I think we should be celebrating and enjoying the fruits of our labor. I don’t do a lot of protective styling either, though I do get kind of lazy at times but my hair is out about 75% of the time. With your help on truly building my regimen I will wearing my hair out 99.9% of the time, it is a little above bra strap right now and thriving pretty good. Went back to relaxer April of this year after being natural since 2015 even with a stint of 16 months of locs that I combed out without damaging or cutting my hair. Congratulations on moving to mid back lane hope to move there real soon myself. Continued blessings to you. 😇

    Great video as always. IMO you left out of the list the most unique and special way to grow your hair: with heat and your hair out. No one does that. I think you should reiterate this because I know you've talked about this before many times but people don't realize heat isn't the problem, it's the wrong use of it: flat iron the hair more than once a week to eliminate flyways, keep the hair flat iron for 2 or 3 weeks ( that means no deep condition and moisture for too long) not using enough heat protectant... I don't know, maybe a video about wrong ways to use heat or something like that as you're the example that you can use it, enjoy it and get long hair. Plus you don't need to moisturize and seal because the hair is already sealed, something that doesn't happen when hair is sir dried, it gets too dry. That's a big difference. Just an idea. Thanks for the video.

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  2 года назад +3

      Hey, Carbonet! Thanks for your suggestion and I hear you, but like you stated, I have talked about heat and M&S a few times before and wanted to cover some of the little things I do that I’ve never discussed. Something different, you know? But I do appreciate your feedback (as always! 👍🏾).

    Subscribed because your personality is everything and these tips were amazing. I've been at a loss on what to do with my 4c hair. I've tried so many different products lately because I've been wanting to wear my hair out and give it a break from protective styling. But nothing is helping. So I was debating on doing a relaxer again XD This video made me feel a little better about using heat or a relaxer. I wanted to get as good as tips as I could before doing either so I don't ruin my hair like before.

Whether you stay natural or go relaxed, I truly believe that my core regimen tips can be successfully applied across the board: a good foundation of hair products, heat no more than once a week and trim regularly/on a schedule. But I’d love to know what you end up choosing to do, so please keep me updated and let me know!

      @DolceDawn  Год назад +1

      Hey, S Wisdom! Thank you! The two setbacks that I had, I made vids about that you may want to check out (Making the Cut and Mini Hair Setback). But maybe I’ll make a vid going over the both of those setbacks as well as some other hurdles I’ve had in my previous hair journeys. Hmm… 🤔

    • @swisdom9117
      @swisdom9117 Год назад +1

      @@DolceDawn ill check out that video. And another question please! I read that keeping your hair in the same position or style can give you fishtail breakage. Is that really true if I keep my hair in a loose low ponytail (ends tucked away)? I relaxed yesterday and I'm used to not touching my hair for long periods. Switching up my hairstyle often is something I want to avoid, in lieu of potential breakage and drying my hair out.
      Right now I'm so scared to touch my hair for some reason lol. It's not breaking or anything, but it feels so delicate, you know? I'll get used to it being relaxed soon. Even though its short now, I'm so glad I still have lots of volume.

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  Год назад +2

      @S Wisdom Aww… you seem genuinely excited about your newly relaxed hair and I think it’s wonderful! But I don’t want you to be scared about its new state; I want you to ENJOY EVERY BIT OF IT!
      With regard to ponytails and breakage, I will say that I’VE never experienced it and I used to wear my hair in bun ponytails all the time during my first hair journey. I think you should be OK as long as the ponytails aren’t tight and you use seamless ponytail holders (NO rubber bands or holders with metal joints, please!).
      As you get used to your hair, you will find what works for you and what doesn’t, but the basics will remain the same: quality products + good regimen (i.e. the frequency/use of the quality products and tools) + trimming schedule = healthy hair.
      Please don’t hesitate to ask me any further questions. I’m excited to hear how you progress in your new “hair venture”! Go… be free! Relax and ENJOY YOUR HAIR!!! 💁🏾‍♀♥

    • @swisdom9117
      @swisdom9117 Год назад

      @@DolceDawn this sounds good! And yes, I have some oversized satin scrunchies that I use and it doesn't catch the hair tight so u think it'll be okay. I didn't know how to take care of my relaxed hair when I first had it (before going back natural) but now I do, and I'm excited for the journey.
      One more question please!
      There is a bit of hair at the ends that are still sorta natural (maybe the hairdresser didn't smooth it out enough?). I'm wondering if I can run some relaxer on it and leave it on for a little bit before washing the relaxer out of my hair. I'm thinking of doing this on my very first self relax attempt in January or February (depending on how long I can stretch).
      What do you think?
      How long do you stretch?

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  Год назад

      @@swisdom9117 Yes, the scrunchie should be just fine.
      As far as your ends go, I’m hoping that you would have had a trim before January and, if so, you shouldn’t have to worry about putting relaxer on them (if it’s the very ends, I wouldn’t do that anyway, JMO.)
      I relax my hair every 7-8 weeks as I find the longer I wait, the drier my hair gets… which is no bueno. I’ve gone as long as 10, but never over.

      @@ebqueen396 Hey, Eboney! I do have some vids, including my regimen videos (listed above in description box) that show exactly how I’m able to do this, but I would break it down simply into four points: 1. Low manipulation (do not overly fuss/comb/brush hair) 2. Wrap/protect hair at night with silk/satin scarf or bonnet 3. Use heat ONCE a week 4. Keep ends trimmed. Now, I will wear my hair up if I’m wearing a wool sweater or something that will snag my hair. But when I wrap and wear my waiting scarf etc. They next morning they are hardly any curls or a curl at the end just straight. It looks Good but I do want a bump. My ends are Trimmed. I think I could be over doing it with the Paul Mitchell serum. Do you think that could be it? I don’t sweat in my hair either.

      Hey, Twinkle Star! Happy New Year!
      It could be too much serum and/or not enough holding spray/product. Relaxed hair can easily become overwhelmed and limp when being heavy handed with moisturizers, oils, etc., and a little serum goes a long way.
      But let me know what the culprit ends up being and how everything turns out.

      Hello Again Dolce I couldn’t wait for the end of the week so I can wash my Hair. I use less serum I didn’t overdo it this time. However after I flat iron my hair and wrap it. Before bed I took it down to see if it had any life /bounce I did however notice again it was more bounce but less curl. I like the fact my hair wasn’t weigh down. But I had no curls. So I’ m thinking to toss my flat iron. When I was flat ironing my hair the curl wouldn’t hold. I realize I was making way to many passes with the flat iron on my hair. So what I decided to do was take my temperature on my flat iron up a notch. And that was what I needed . Now I can do less passes . Two at the most and the curl and bounce is there. I wrapped and I can’t wait to see what it look like on the morning.
