One thing to avoid imo (and people think it helps to grow the hair) is heavy protective styles that require braiding your hair and keep them for 2, 3, 4 weeks or even more (some people keep sew ins for a month or more): yes hair will grow, you'll have a lot of new growth but girl I've seen countless videos where then girls say: ooh I need a trim! Yes hair grew but you didn't retain any length because you didn't have access to your ends, they are dry as hell and sure they broke off. You cannot wash and moisturize them well enough. Thanks for the video.
I agree, Carbonet. Protective styles, as a whole, are not meant for long-term use. Hair continues to grow while in them and must be attended to on a scheduled basis in order to stay healthy and retain length. 👍🏾
I 100% agree with that! I chopped off my hair last December due to split ends and put in braids to grow my hair. After I took the braids out, I realized I did myself a diservice as my hair was incredibly dry. I'm currently rocking a pixie cut while I continue to trim off some of the ends. I'll start growing it once I feel it's completely healthy. Thanks for the tips Dolce!
Ohhh Giiiirl! You had me at "let's do away with this whole pursuit of perfection"! I'm sooo HERE FOR IT! 😍🙌🏾 You also made some really awesome points about not letting people touch your hair (outside of the haircare specialist and the significant other). I love this!
Hey, girl!! I’m so glad you enjoyed this one. Yep, that perfect hair thang ain’t really a thang, you know? And no touchy-feely on my hair. A BIG no-no, for sure! 🙅🏾♀️👎🏾
I had to learn to be more mindful when putting on my shoulder bag, when I sit down at home and in the car and when I am putting on /off my sports bras. They are all conspiring to snatch my hair!
Hey Dolce!! Your hair is looking mighty fine as always 😉Good call on the smoke tip. That scent definitely lingers on your clothes, and in your hair. As a non smoker I find it quite disgusting😷.
That hair touching by a stranger is ewww, disgusting! It happened to me. I was in a bar after a Bad Boy concert. As I was sitting waiting for my fiancé come from the restroom, this girl came behind me and touched the top of my real hair to “weave check me’. I’m not a confrontational person but my fiancé saw her to do it and I had to calm him down and hold him back. She wasn’t worth it. It was a lesson for me to be aware of my surroundings. At that time I had midbacklength hair and I make sure to keep my hair in front of me while I’m in public.
Yeah, I totally don’t get it, sweetfm2008. Like, I would never even think of doing that. And you’re so right when you say to be more aware of your surroundings because ppl can be… well, you know. It’s just best to be aware.
Real tips there! i can relate, being a product junkie costed me leg, learnt my lesson to the core, am back to the basics after the set back. God bless you Dolce for such great tips!
Hey, Ivy! Yes, ma’am! I used to be a product junkie, too. My hair “kissed a lot of frogs” until finally meeting its line-up of princes. So I can definitely relate.
Hey, Twinkle! Hmm… I hadn’t planned on making another flat ironing video since I still do everything the same way. Perhaps I’ll do one if I do a different style.
great tips! i need to be a bit better protecting my hair at home and lounging on the couch and such 😅 i feel the same way about smoke, but i’ve moved home since the pandemic with two indoor smokers :( i’ve added olaplex no.9 as it’s supposed to be a “pollution shield”, but hopefully i can just move out soon haha
Hey, Brittney! My friend used to touch and run her fingers through my hair and flip it. She was quite handsy. 👋🏾 But I had to stop all that or I’d have no hair left to flip! lol
Your experience in Japan was my experience in Vienna Austria last year, everyone and their mama was smoking in public 💀 It was such a culture shock. It's like the anti smoking campaigns never made it there.
Hey, Lawsome! Yes, I was really surprised that in a country that has some of the healthiest foods/diets culturally, smoking culture was so prevalent- even encouraged - there.
Good evening Dolce. Thanks for the tips. I am a hair product junkie. I'll have to stick with the basic products that work for me, to see more progress. Yeah Theorie, Infusium 23, Kera Care and Paul Mitchel Super Skinny. 🙂
Good evening, Judy! My pleasure. 😉 I used to be somewhat of a hair product junkie, too, but fell so deeply in love with my current products that I became reformed and never looked back. 👍🏾
Hey Dolce!! How are you? Im curious 😶. If/When you try color one day, will it be in the style of a balayage, highlights or just a full solid color all throughout?? Also, what brand of semi-permanent were you wanting to go with? I remember Clairol 'Textures and Tones' worked pretty well on my texturizer back in high school...I too was kinda blonde lol🤷🏾♂️.
Hey, ArtisticAmethyst! I’m good - thank you! How are you? I wish I could do bayalage or some type of ombré, but I think that would take a professional using permanent hair color. Can’t risk that right now. *le sigh* 😔 So I’m thinking of using something from the Clairol Beautiful Collection Semi Perm line since I’ve used it before and see what happens. Wish I could have seen your blonde hair from HS. Bet it was kinda dope! 😉

Yes!! Shoulder bags, seat belts, car seats… So much out there trying to sabotage our strands, girl! Gotta stay aware!
Today am here early representing the Notification gangs for a healthy hair journey
Hey, hey, Otismadaline!! Thanks for checking in!

Hey, Sandra! Thank you, ma dear! 🤗 And I have to agree with you: I’m just not a fan of smoking/smoke. It literally makes me nauseous.
Girl you are so fun to watch and engaging. You just crack me up. I’ve been watching for some time now and I just gotta say I just love your hair!
Thank you so much, Nadine!! ♥️

I avoided complicated hairstyle too, thanks sweetheart for sharing this cos it really helps in the healthy hair journey 🤗😍
Totally agree, my dear! 💯👍🏾
Hi Dolce thanks for the video. Good reminders. Now that your hair is longer will you do a video on how you flat iron your long hair?
Hey, Twinkle! Hmm… I hadn’t planned on making another flat ironing video since I still do everything the same way. Perhaps I’ll do one if I do a different style.
@@DolceDawn okay I look forward to it thanks again

Hey Dolce I didn't see the furr babies in this video. I normally see them in the background. I missed them.
LOL! Sometimes when mommy records, they disappear. lol. But you may see them pop up pretty soon. ;0)

Other things you avoid: heavy protective styles where you don't have access to your hair, air dry your hair, stretch your relaxers for too long.
Correctamundo! lol
Nice hair.
Thank you so much, Hilda! ♥️
Ewww weird! I hate it when people would touch my hair without my permission 😖😫
Fortunately that is NEVER HAPPENING 😁
Not happening over here, either. I let my one friend do that back in the day and thank goodness no one has asked since! 🙅🏾♀️
