  • Hey, guys! In this video, I talk about a product that’s well known, but not often talked about with regard to hair relaxers. Instead of the harsh chemicals used by traditional relaxers, the PHYTOSpecific PHYTO Relaxer relies on a no-lye, hydroxide-free formula - along with the power of plants - to help straighten textured coils and curls. So for all of those looking for a “gentler” alternative to the traditional relaxer, this one’s for you!
    Enjoy and thanks for watching! ♥️

      @@DolceDawn you are welcome ! I have only used it once because I used to do japanese straightening services and it is the only relaxer that can safely overlap with a thio based treatment ! It left my hair feeling great BUT it did create a bald spot at the center of my head. I don't blame the product, I think it was because I started applying it on this part (very coarse) and because I don't have a lot of experience, I spent too much time applying it to my whole head. So I kind of left it for too long. But yeah, very straight results, I don't even need to use a flat iron. Thank you for your answer and super helpful channel !

      Which box relaxer sold in stores is exactly like that?

    • @lalarose9907
      @lalarose9907 Год назад +3

      @@twitterblackdove store bought no-lye hair relaxers have that same chemical ingredient that the phytospecific relaxer have in it, which is called guanidine carbonate. It is a chemical straightener. The only difference is that the store bought ones have a particular activator that you supposed to mix in it that then forms calcium hydroxide for the purpose of it to be gentler on your scalp. Phytospecific use what they claim is natural ingredients to mix in that guanidine carbonate chemical. The other store bought no-lye hair relaxers, are the potassium and lithium hydroxide hair relaxers. They don't require mixing.

      @@kida758 have you found a good replacement? phyto has been discontinued

    I used to use Phyto Specific, but it's $65.00. I'm not paying that every time i want to get my hair done. I use Creme of Nature regular $10.00 - $11.00.

      Hey, Shaneeta! That’s quite a difference, huh? lol I guess it’s all about what you value and how you calculate it: $65 is less than a salon visit, but if you’re DIY then $11 a pop is definitely more attractive.

    Why do people say this is a chemical free relaxer, it’s not.

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey, Alicia! You’re right: it’s not 100% chemical-free, but was considered less harsh than the typical relaxer and now, unfortunately, it has been discontinued.

      Hey, hfb! I haven’t heard that complaint from users as well as that’s how it’s listed on their website. But I appreciate you sharing that as it’s interesting to hear different perspectives on the product.

    I bet our ancestors used something like this to manage their hair.

      Hey, Keena! Good observation! Along with the powders from plants to dye their hair, they most certainly DID use natural elixirs to elongate and stretch their coils. Some tribes still do. Great point! 👍🏾
