It shows that modem war rooms like this are more about "bs" "enemies" and "fighting" through radios and long distance communications or long distance rockets (icbms) and usually over the most idiotic, small issues that are basically so pathetic because they're emotional and reactionary, rather than logical, or for actual self defense instead.
President Merkin Muffly was a dead ringer for Eisenhower's opponent in the 1952 and 1956 Presidential race, Adlai Stevenson. General "Buck" Tergeson was also a dead ringer for SAC Commander General "bombs away" Lemay...and Dr. Strangelove had the same maniacal obsession with nuclear weapons as Ex-German advisor to the Pentagon...Dr. Teller.
Saw the movie yesterday for the first time and this video was a great summary on everything that is great about Dr. Strangelove. Well done, I always enjoy your videos and get something out of them, I previously didn't notice about a film.
I still remember the first time I watched this movie many years ago, I'm not a black and white movie hater, but I didn't think such an old comedy would really impress me, humor change a lot since then, but when I was watching it, it was so dark and realistic, and Sellers many characters where so well done, and most gags were still updated to today's humor that I felt in love inmediately... Hands down, one of the best comedy I ever watch, along with Monty Python trilogy and The Big Lebowsky
This video was extremely helpful, informational, and super well done. From the title cards to the comedic timing to the "its a dick" I was invested the whole time. Super detailed and creative analysis of Kubrick and the movie as well. Amazing job! Thank you and keep up the good content.
This is really great work. Please accept my gratitude not only for the excellence of this production, but also for properly pronouncing the word nuCLEE-AR, instead of nuc-U-leR.
Great Review. Your clips reminded me of the great camera work & the value of B&W cinematography. Also, this had to be a comedy. Comedy only works when it has an identifiable underlying truth. Conversely, dramas, at points, often veer off their intended truth. 2 necessary viewings to accompany this are Fail Safe, and the BBC mini-series Oppenheimer starring Sam Waterston. And, at 68 years, I remember being taught to get under the school desk and face my back towards the windows. One more thing about our current situation. A little over a year ago, I had a dream where I was in a bar, and the civil defense warning came on the TV (not a test). I never had a dream like that as a kid. Sorry for being long winded, Best wishes, Ted
Curious that this fairly erudite appreciation of Dr. Strangelove fails to mention the ultimate absurdities at work at the very end of the movie. First, the discussion of mine-shaft survival is clearly impractical, if for no other reason that there's no time to devise and implement it. Second, as General Turgidson punctuates its impracticality by venting about the possibility of a "mine shaft gap" with the Russians, we catch the Russian ambassador mysteriously sneaking away to snap pictures of the war room with a pocket watch spy camera he's secretly brought with him. In other words, despite the awareness all these men supposedly now possess of the imminent destruction of the planet thanks to the Doomsday Machine, they remain prisoners of their conventional Cold War thinking. No one -- not even the Russian ambassador himself -- actually believes the world could possibly be ending. And isn't that the point of the movie ... that the only way to live in the era of Mutually Assured Destruction is to pretend it can't happen?
It would have been a better movie without the silly character names and the scene where the MP gets soda in his face from the coke machine. Oh well... As if I could do any better!
I've been looking for an analysis of this movie that was so extremely astute. It included camera angles and made a point about the song we'll meet again. Anyways this one wasn't it and was extremely disappointing. I just wish I could find the one I was looking for and not this pro nwo trash.
"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!" Top 5 best lines in film.

Cinema is truly blessed to have Kubrick, I love the shining so much it makes me emotional
Yes finally! Keep doing reviews not just Oscar stuff. Also you sadly predicted the win for Green Book
Thank god you’re back dude! Your videos are always the most entertaining & also the most insightful.
This really did give an entirely new meaning to the movie for me, this movie finally clicks for me in ways I never thought possible
Well Done, sir. Astute and personal.

So glad to see another review from you!
Not the movie I expected but I LOVE your videos and your commentary! Keep 'em coming and welcome back!

Thank you for making a new video!!
Worth the wait! Great job man
The doomsday scheme exists in reality, it's called the Dead Hand Doctrine, Система «Периметр» in its modern version.
Very insightful.👍
I love your videos, man.
Glad you are back.

Probably my favorite black comedy movie. Most likely because it's so realistic in some ways and has some of the best lines.

You need to watch movies about nuclear irradiated wildlife. Rabbits, ants, spiders and the king of them all Godzilla. This meant we survived the bomb.
Some interesting suggestions:
The Holy Mountain
Eraserhead
Barry Lyndon
Being John Malkovich
Mulholland Drive (I know you love this one)
Best movie ever
Oh my God, finally!
The history of the nuclear bomb is greatly underrated. What an absurd time
U back
Is this a dream that I don't have to wait a whole year?!?!
The "It's a dick" cutaways are superfluous.
These videos rule, top-notch criticism
None of it seems rehashed or that I've heard it before even though its about a Kubrick movie
Please come back to us sir, I love your videos and 30k other people do too. We love you!!!
The Doomsday device had a real counterpart, it was not built yet when the movie was made thought.

Best, most hilarious "dark" comedy ever saw. The best! And Slim Pickens knew exactly what he was being directed to do, they all did... Hahahahaha...
Aw yiss new vid
Found this Channel because of a Radio ad in the car
this movie is widely under-appreciated
Its is considered one of the best movies of all time but yeah
That was then. Just a movie to me. Now it's cyber.

Do "Grave of the Fireflies" if you loved it!
I extremely recommend checking out a Russian Movie called "Come And See"
Coming back? 🤔
Dude are you going to review this year Oscar movies or not???? wake up.
Where did u go :(
what happened? where have you been?
Comedy? is thought it was terror
Here's the joke, it's true but it really worked
I was literally just thinking about this movie when I opened my subscriptions and saw this. Uncanny!
Peter Sellars, not Kubrick "decided" to do it as a comedy. Kubrick was a brillant camera freak, story telling was not his level
It would have been a better movie without the silly character names and the scene where the MP gets soda in his face from the coke machine.
Oh well... As if I could do any better!
Get a better Mic pls
Great video but Your “it’s a dick” sound clip is irritating.
Great insight and connection to modern politics. If only Kubrick were alive today. Sigh INDEED
Why is that analysis like this always ruins the film?
I'm seeing a lot of Lindsay Ellis' catchphrases in here. You know what they say, steal from the best.

Great analysis, shit politics
