I worked at McDonald's for 2 months when I was 16, they never let me make any of the food. Was always stuck on fries or front cash. Honestly I probably would lasted longer if I could have just made food like this. Right now I work in a coffee shop and I 100% love making drinks/sandwiches far more than dealing with customers. This was a weird video, but I couldn't stop watching it.
7 months, worked in kitchen. The guy in the video is lucky to be on table (assembling the food). This is the best place to be because otherwise you're breaking your back over the tiny grills they have or on chicken (like fries but 5x the amount of things to cook). I'd worked at McDonald's for 7 months and have had an accumulative 2 hours and 30 minutes on table across all the shifts I've worked. McDonald's is only a fun place to work if the creepy old men managing you have taken a liking to you.
When I was in my late teens/early 20s, I vowed never to work in fast food. After having seen the first person pov, I think I made the right call. I cannot imagine a more soul crushing experience to make the same burger, hour after hour, day after day, every single day.

@@MarcusM10 That's an awesome response from your boss. This kind of job takes more than you'd think. I have been working there for almost 2 years now and the amount of patience and willpower it takes to do a job like this (especially night shift) is astonishingly unbelievable, most can't take it and I'm not calling them out it's understandable.
I worked at a McDonald’s for eleven years. You’re right it takes an incredible amount of patience and will power doing that for 40 to 50 hour work weeks. I ended up hating it so much before I left 😂
I worked in bars for ten years in the UK and it was horrendous. The only way I survived was moving every year or two and taking advantage of/mercilessly exploiting the novelty of a new pub. The people who could stick it year after year after year I was and still am in awe of.

Brings back memories! I worked at McDonald's for a year or so. This was in a lineup of many years of various food service jobs and others people deem "Unskilled." I currently have a career that many would consider "Real." I would still prefer to do what I currently do over doing this again, even at the same rate I'm currently making now. These are real jobs that need to be treated with proper respect and compensation.
I work at mcdonalds and I'm surpised I never heard a "reg out" or "I need reg dropped" so your grill person must be on top of it. Anyways I think its cool to see the slight difference in technology like the bun toaster at mine we put the buns in on the side and then they come out the other end and I think yours is much more efficient because sometimes with ours the buns will get stuck and they wont even end up going through the toaster. Anyways, your fluidity when it comes to dropping buns and grabbing the right wrapping papers and stickering them was really effortless and I want to have that kind of grace.
@@aceman0000099 i think thats just his normal speed ,having worked similar jobs you dont get to 'slow down' and once you are seen working at that speed that is now your expected speed...
This is me everyday in the kitchen. I'm a stay at home homeschooling mother and cook 3 hot, from scratch meals every day for my family. We ALL eat different things (different food tastes, aversions etc) so I'm cooking 3 different things at each 3 separate meal times. I've mastered the art of time/task management in cooking and have managed to reduce "dead time" down to negligible amounts. I don't let dirty dishes to pile up in the sink, to be washed later. What I do is I boil water in the kettle, fill the sink with that plus the same amount of cold water and add dish detergent. I fill up the sink with fresh hot/cold water mix 3x a day. As I cook, I wash up so that at the end of a meal all that's left to wash are the plates, cutlery and cups. I immediately put away washed dishes after washing these last items. I use a timer at all times when cooking in order to get consistency in the quality of the meals I cook. I also keep a running shopping list and will immediately write down the name of a food item as it runs out so that it doesn't slip my mind later when i sit down to write up my weekly shopping list. I only shop once a week with a list i 100% stick to. There is no impulse buying in my life. I have also set up my kitchen to be as efficient an environment as possible. I also only have minimal tools so i dont need much storage space. No one taught me these techniques. I am self-taught. Before I became a mother I was a bookkeeper, so organisation and time/task management were already natural to me when I made the switch to staying home full-time. These skills of mine are versatile and easily transferable into any type of job. I could easily work in a MacDonald's kitchen and feel right at home.
I'm amazed at the efficiency in which food production is undertaken while still doing everything correctly. The key to that is what goes on behind the scenes from ingredient ordering, correct storage, preparing for each service (to me this is a big part of this managers McDonald's success) and then out to customers. It's a lot of logistics and even orders that some ingredients are not wanted eg sauce never seems to be a problem for this team.

I work at Deltaco and i like the way the store is set up. I understand every fast food place is different. But honestly how you guys have your burger station set up is good. I wish we had ours like that.
If a McD is open 24 hours, when and how do you clean, sanitize and remove all the bits of toppings? Also fryer maintenance would be interesting. Great videos, thank you!
usually when it starts to get slow, they'll start wiping down and sweeping and stuff but there's also specific times during the day when certain tasks will get done, so they don't go too long without cleaning up
At the McDonald's I work we are always sweeping and roughly every 2 hours we try to mop the kitchen. And around 2 in the morning we temporarily close so they can clean the fryers and the grills are cleaned and pulled out so the grease behind the grills can be cleaned and that roughly takes about an hour and then we reopen and begin the change over for breakfast.

I respect your work ethic. I personally haven’t gone back to a McDonald’s in years after an employee gave me a burger that had clearly been biten into. But still, good to know there’s good employees working at McDonald’s
Stephen, what are the functions of the red, white, blue, and gray buttons? Also, how do the labels and buttons operate on the protein warmers, as well as the fryers and grills? Just curious to see more of the non-food side of MCD's.
Former assistant manager here, red button either enables or disables the orders on the side of the table. Grey button is for serving orders off from the side White will enable an option for one side to only take drive thru orders and one takes front counter. The buttons are quality timers, it counts down to let you know how much longer you have until food is bad. It dings when it goes off, ohhhh the trauma from that sound.

It’s interesting to see that the McDonald brothers original ketchup and mustard dispenser design is still in use. 40 years ago when I worked for McDonalds, they were still made of stainless steel like the originals. We didn’t have those cool bun warmers. Do they still have those goofy training that I had to watch 40 years ago? Thanks for posting this, it’s very interesting. They have a ton more of the menu and they serve breakfast now which McDonalds didn’t do long ago.

And although Im only 16 and unable to start working by making the food, I like seeing the dedication from other employees.

Usually when it's late or early you don't have many customers and can get this done
usually when it starts to get slow, they'll start wiping down and sweeping and stuff but there's also specific times during the day when certain tasks will get done, so they don't go too long without cleaning up
At the McDonald's I work we are always sweeping and roughly every 2 hours we try to mop the kitchen. And around 2 in the morning we temporarily close so they can clean the fryers and the grills are cleaned and pulled out so the grease behind the grills can be cleaned and that roughly takes about an hour and then we reopen and begin the change over for breakfast.

red button either enables or disables the orders on the side of the table.
Grey button is for serving orders off from the side
White will enable an option for one side to only take drive thru orders and one takes front counter.
