One last thing! The older Skylanders were not nerfed in Imaginators, and instead the enemies we're buffed to compensate for the senseis being so op. I also apologize for the long comment, and I did fix it.
Looking back on Imaginators, it just feels like this was supposed to be a lead in to the tv show since that show had Spyro and friends, the new characters from Imaginators, and Crash Bandicoot
Imaginators was the biggest disappointment I ever felt. I play all the games on the Wii (obviously not the best console to play on), so when i got a new console i hoped to play the full skylanders experience on the newest game and i was really looking forward to it. My disappointment was immeasurable. The levels are mid, the iconic NPCs that were the face of skylanders were completely replaced with boring knock-offs, the music was boring, the new sensei characters all had good designs but they weren't "skylander" designs, comparing the senseis to any characters from the previous games make the senseis look way off and they dont even look like skylanders at that point. Ultimately, this game is not a skylanders game, it feels like a knockoff game because of how far it feels from the previous 5 games. SSA-SSC were all amazing games that perfectly capture the feeling the world of skylands, this game feels like the Aldi off-brand skylanders game
i mean i respect your opinion but i think that after all peaple are too strict with this game, it's not that bad afterall right? i think this game represents the last skylanders franchise game and it'worth of it's name, i also think this game has problems such as the really simple story and the bosses, but i just don't think this really makes this game bad. sorry for the bad english.
Firstly, you are based on loving SuperChargers! I LOVE that entry too, one of my favorites, and it felt like a more fitting finale to the series. I don't hate Imaginators, but it's my least favorite by a wide margin. It felt like a giant advertisement for the cartoon, the story was awful, the bosses were lame, and it felt kinda soulless going through these generic levels and hearing stock music. I did like the fact that some fan-favorite Skylanders were NPCs and they were given more personality. But I hated how the game made my past collections worthless, the Creation Crystals were awful and you couldn't reset them unless through a big exploit, and of course the loot chests. I also hate how it makes Kaos the villain again when he had his sorta redemption in SuperChargers, was powerless after the Darkness was banished, and not seen as a threat anymore. But they had to bring him back, and I agree there, Imaginators has the worst Kaos' fight. It's more annoying than anything. Doomlanders and a shock-wave attack. And the credits song was cringe. Say what you will about Supercharged with Love being cheesy, but there's no denying, listening to it was an emotional experience. But SuperChargers was peak and that song was too.
I adore all the skylanders games, but Imaginators is still to this day easily my least favourite. The game I overall find just to have a cheap feel to it due to the conflicting art style and the constantly contradictive story. The overuse of stock music and reuse of previous OST was also quite a bad choice as it just makes the levels feel more generic (that said, I do like the tracks they used for Schollarville and Abandoned Amusement Park, but they're far from stellar in comparison to the OST from the previous games). What really kills this game for me and really my main reason why Imaginators is my least favourite is the nerfing of the original skylanders, which is very unnecessary considering they were all perfectly playable in the previous games and all just to try get the new senseis. Speaking of I find the senseis to be a bit overrated. I do like how a good portion sensei's attacks chain together which creates some strategy which I love (e.g Blaster-Tron, Pit Boss, Dr Neo Cortex, Bad Juju) but because of how powerful they are some others feel like a waste of time to master when I could spam some attacks together and win every battle (for example, whenever I play Misticat, all I do is create clones, fire my primary attack, replace clones that dissipated, rinse and repeat) and some of the sensei's designs, personality and moveset just feel derivative of previous skylanders (e.g I find Flare Wolf's personality too similar to Trigger Happy and I'd rather pick Spy Rise and Smolderdash's ground slam attacks any day of the week over Chain Reaction's). This game is not without its own set of merits for me. I really enjoy the Schollarville, Sky Fortress, Abandoned Amusement Park and Thumpin Wumpa Islands levels, some of the sensei's designs I do love, it was a genius idea to bring back some fan-favourite Trap Team villains to expand their moveset even with the weapon and/or element changes, making them far and beyond my favourite part of the roster. Lastly, for me personally, easily my favourite part of Imaginators is the main gimmick of creating your own skylanders. Even without the parts exclusive to Lost Imaginite Mines and Cursed Tiki Temple there are still a huge variety of parts to choose from and the battle classes provide an excellent way to choose what type of skylander you want to create (even if its annoying Ninja's can only be orb-shaped and Swashbuckers have tails). To be honest, I loved creating imaginators so much when I was younger I didn't really care about collecting the senseis aside from unlocking the sensei realms to get more imaginite gear. I find it enjoyable either making a new skylander and coming up with a cool backstory for them in my head or remaking some of my favourite fictional characters with this gimmick. I don't hate Imaginators, I like the game. Simply put its the game I enjoy the least in the franchise. I'm perfectly happy for those whose favourite game is Imaginators even if its not my favourite :)
I do not understand how the story for every skylanders game just kept getting better and deeper up until they reached peak in superchargers, then completely butcher it in imaginators making the WORST story ever
I think this game is completely saved by how fun the sensei's are, the rest of the game is completely mediocre but the sensei's design and gameplay are the most fun the play in the series in my opinion. I think the creating Skylanders gimmick is cool too but i hardly ever use it.
Eh? I don't think Imaginators was the worst game and, plus, Imaginators was my first game who made me attract to the Skylanders serie and I have really enjoy it so, without Imaginators, I don't think I would care about the Skylanders serie or play the previous Skylanders games. The only thing that I see worst about Skylanders is the community itself because most of the people didn't buy Superchargers and Imaginators because, boohoo, this is not a Trap Team 2 so we don't buy them and then, since the 2 last games get bad sales thanks to the community and their smart brain (sarcasm), Activision/Toys For Bob aren't interest anymore for do a new Skylanders game (and I really doubt we gonna see Skylanders again since now Toys For Bob is more interest into the Crash Bandicoot serie than anything else) and then those hypocrites among the Skylanders community who didn't buy Superchargers and Imaginators claim by complaint that the Skylanders serie miss them so much despite they could have buy a lot of Superchargers and Imaginators games for made somes similar sales close from the previous Skylanders games and keep the serie alive but no since it seem definitively better to kill the Skylanders serie for good just because they have act like a little kid who throw a tantrum if they don't get what they want, how rich! Plus they forget that every games are different with different story and different new Skylanders gameplay such Superchargers for drive vehicles, Imaginators for create our own chararacters and have sensei and unlock powers, Swap Force for change body, Giants for have a very powerfull bigger Skylanders and more but some people are just stuck to Trap Team by consider it as the best game ever and don't want to know anything about others games so I prefer not think about what if Trap Team was the first Skylanders game to be released in 2011 and then Spyro's Adventure and Giants are the next one to be release with somes morrons who gonna throw a lot of hate on those 2 games because it's not a Trap Team-like. To be honnest I would not enjoy to get a Trap Team 2 as a sequel from Trap Team with the villains who escape again and what? We have to chase them and capture them again for put them back in the villain vault? Feel like a recycled story from Trap Team right? So yeah I like a lot the Skylanders serie but, man, I hate the community. Why it's so hard for some people to see more far away than their noose than to have a obsession with Trap Team only?
Well, Imaginators has good enough to pull me into the whole Skylanders thing. 🤔🤷 I bought it in 2017 to my Switch, and since then i have all of the games and currently waiting for 65 figures to arrive, a very mixed pack from every game, even a Kaos trap AND a Sensei (i already have 23 figures)
Superchargers was also a rather weak game, the only difference is that if they had changed that the car racing was just a side mode and the levels were normal, then the game would have been very good. Imaginators would have had to change practically the entire game to make it good.
I don’t hate imaginators but should’ve focus on Flynn Cali and Hugo instead of Spyro and the skylanders plus and I wish have more levels and I was hoping for an elephant sensei
@@BumbleBlaster The vehicles my friend.. the vehicles/vehicle sections is why so many people hate superchargers, and years later to this day I still don't understand the hate. I didn't think imaginators was awful i just though it was fine but compared to all the other games yeah it's definitely my least favourite i like a couple of levels here like the golden arcade and fizz land but then there are some levels like lair of kaos which was literally just fighting enemies for the entire level and yeah the cake mission sucked the imaginators and Senseis were cool but made the game a bit too easy, but the story was especially lame in my opinion coming right after superchargers Which had the best story, the story here was kind of cool up until we had to make the cake then it lost me. And like WHY IS KAOS EVIL AGAIN when he helped us at the end of the last game like you said it felt like they were too busy trying to promote skylanders academy more than anything and while i like that show, i don't think it was worth it to ignore everything that happened in the last game just so that they could promote a show. In my opinion superchargers should have been the last game. Oh and the crash bandicoot level was great

Thanks to time restraints/spending to much time on the imaginators they couldn't fix other problems, and not to mention slapping two different gimmick ideas into one game was a really stupid move. If they had just took a year or two off of skylanders to work on the next entry they really could have had a great 6th game but sadly they didn't, and it really messed things up. The 6th game should have just been called Skylanders Sensei's, and that would have given them at least more time to work on story, levels, and collectables ect.. since it would have been a less stressful gimmick to deal with. I also feel that the creation crystals were the wrong way to handle the imaginators, and instead they should have made magnetic figures with different interchangeable parts which would have made the gimmick more engaging.
