Mountain House should hook you up with a bunch of their products to sample on your channel! If you didn't ask them when you spoke with them about the 40-year old food, ask now! Send them a link to this video, telling them you Sampled 40 year-old food! It's great advertising for them, free product for you to leave at your cabin! I would have NEVER believed food could last 40 years!
Great idea, cause after that video, I'm definitely buying some now!
Yep! Went directly to their website to see what's up!
I cannot believe the company would encourage you to eat 40 year old meals... you should update them
I think they should help create a new line of products. I think they have tried almost everything known to man that is eatable. Or just create their own line of survival food.
@@hillarywright7965 Me too and I've never even heard of Mountain House until I watched their last video.
That little sequence at the end was so funny.
I know, that end sequence was the best part of the whole thing. "I'm like a lizard right now..." Awesome :D
The
Yes - more of this kind of content please. :)
Yeah their personalities are really shining through as they get more comfortable in front of the camera!
So adorable.
the blooper reel you guys do at the end of your videos has become my favorite part😂😂
*laying down in the alaskan snow*
arielle: “YOURE COLD??! ..thats really odd honey...”
Nothing makes me happier than seeing couples have no shame in telling the other they have something on their face, lol. True love and comfort with each other right there
Ha ha, I agree. I'm here saying "Ariel, Ariel, you have something on your face". LOL. She didn't hear me though.
"I'm a cold blooded creature and I'm trying to soak up the sun bub". THAT shit needs to go on some merch like immediately. You could move some t-shirts I'm telling you. That was hilarious. You guys are so damn cute.
I would buy that sticker pack in a heartbeat
@@lu6460 Right?!
🤘
Truth! I'd proudly purchase and wear a shirt with that saying on it for sure! 😂
One of my favorite things as a kid was to lay in the snow and just listen to the silence. "Restorative" is the perfect word! Especially with that view!!!
As a dog groomer, and boarding kennel owner/operator (hence the YT name, Tail's Inn 🙃), it warms my heart immensely to see how well you care for your pooches. I love how you literally have projects to work on, so they can share in your adventures. They're family (my girl is for me too) and it shows in your videos. ❤🥰
Sending warm hugs!!!!
Good to hear some positive feedback, so many people on this thread are grumbling about the way the dogs are treated. I agree that it's always obvious how well the dogs are looked after, and they're well loved
U 2 are true dog lovers like my husband and I, I love that your version of a dog sled is u towing your dogs on a sled instead of them towing u.🐕👌
"I don't know if you can hear that... its completely silent" HAHA!
And then, 1 minute later: roaring snow-machine 🤪.....
I know right...🤣
I loved that, lol!
Right!!!! 😂😂 i was like 👁👄👁
Loved that you added that personal bit at the end. I think you should perform that whole song on the next video, including the dancing! : - D
Bean bag chairs make excellent dog cushions. They will help keep em warm n keep the hard bumps from hurting.
You ate chicken older than you. Weird to think about. Seems like that meal made her a little loopy though. Hahaha the end scenes are always my fav.
I had to laugh, the new dog sled reminded me of one of those 2 legged walking things from Star Wars. Lol
Hah! Was thinking the same thing!
Yes. Also, wishing no negatives but, thinking first solid hit on one of those skis and those small spindles will buckle.
I'm thinking of calling it the grasshopper:)
@@SimpleLivingAlaska That's a perfect name.
@@SimpleLivingAlaska First love your videos, great stuff. As to the "Grasshopper", watching the vid of your ride with the dogs, you were solid as a rock the whole time while the "Grasshopper" bounced the dogs up and down most of the time. Can the skies be lowered/shortened to take the some spring out of them? Perhaps some suitcase weights or the like as on a riding mower that would help stabilize the bounce? Just some thoughts to give the pooches a smoother ride. You also have some seriously rugged Chickens that can take that kind of cold! Thanks for showing us the beauty of Alaska.
I love how you love your doggies just like little humans. 🐶
They are not humans?
@@fmrnygal I THOUGHT THEY WERE FROGS?
I could totally see y'all getting a harvest right freeze dryer. You could take your food preservation to a whole new level. Plus it's easy to store the food with limited space. Love you both, take care!
Surviving life__ Unplugged - Haha, I thought the same thing. But wonder if their current (no pun intended) setup could handle it.
@@annwithaplan9766 I doubt if the solar could run it. They do use a good bit of power but a larger generator could handle it.
Surviving life_ Unplugged I was just thinking the same thing. Kevin and Sarah at Living Traditions Homestead has one and they rave about it.
@@imari2305 - Yes, I've seen them. "Retired at 40" got a 2nd one recently has has hundreds of videos up about it. They're very expensive, but worth it in the long run.
Arielle, "I don't know if you can hear that... but total dead silence".
Well then, no... we really can't hear it...! So funny. 😆
Really pretty out there with all the view. You finally got a Denali shot. Even from that far away, it still looms large!!!
You know you are loved when they tease you. Awesome video. Loved seeing the fur babies.
We have been binge watching your channel for the last week. You two are alot of fun and seem to really enjoy the life you are living.
You could see the dogs smiling knowing they were going so sweet! Most pampered and loved dogs in Alaska.
That Alaska winter silence. That's worth more than gold. I count myself lucky to have experienced a pure silence like that. Thanks for pulling that memory up out of the recesses of my brain. Restorative is a good word.
It would be awesome to see a video all about what caring for the dogs looks like living in Alaska, love your channel guys
I just love how much you care for your pups.
The interaction at 8:57 was adorable. Brought a smile and laugh to my face in the middle of 2021`s winter
Hiding in the dark room at the dental office watching your videos!! Makes my day!
Absolutely love the quiet “off script” moments you guys put in at the end. It shows your bond ❤️
I love when you're talking to us, but I also love when you're talking to each other ( last minutes of the video).
I feel for the dogs because for them it's still a bumpy ride:( But it was funny the first shots of their little snowmobile. It was fairy like. Here in Europe we have writers writing books for children like Astrid Lindgren. And it's an enchanting world. Your outing with the dogsled projected me in such a wonder world.
We need to send you guys some snow machine helmets. Way more comfortable, warm, and safe 😉. You can even get heaters to keep your goggles from fogging up. Great video as always you two 👍
helmets suck on snow machines. why you never see many with them on
@@genghischuan4886 oh really? Check out my channel then. I think you’ll understand why everyone wears a helmet on a sled.
Especially cause they in the middle of nowhere and help far away a helmet doesn't seem like a bad idea, plus added warmth.
I could see the od scenario where the helmet would be a disadvantage in a predator attack like a bear or something as far as seeing and moving your head to get a gun etc.. but the helmet would also protect your head!
I'm aware an attack on the noisy machine is not likely.
@@brandonbooth101 help is not far away there. I ride that exact spot on a weekly basis. My profile picture is me jumping the very spot they’re eating. 15 minute ride from a main road. Well main road to us Alaskans. Still always smart to wear a helmet. There are no bears in this area during the winter. Hardly even any moose too. They’re all down at sea level.
@@brandonbooth101 till it gets hung on a branch
Peanut butter jelly time 😆 love it ... great videos.. so beautiful and serene ... Only if I were younger I'd love living there .
I love that Ariel just keeps hocking it down. My girl! Lol
She stays thin although she eats as much as a man. Wish I could do that 😃 She must work hard!
That bit at the very end was pure gold.
40-41 years .. wow .. and you can taste/grade the different contents .. now that is something. I haven't played on a snow machine since the late 60's. Enjoy, your adventures I sure do.
They look like they’re riding in a covered wagon! 😆 best video on RUclips today.
By far.
I wonder if a waterproof canvas cover would work on that
Every time I watch your videos I am truly amazed at how beautiful Alaska is, natural beauty at its best thank you
Laying on your back in the snow, just looking up at the sky is true bliss! Even my two toddlers settled down and listened to silence for a moment yesterday. Thank you for yet another beautiful Alaska adventure ❤️
Your videos just keep getting better and better. Always looking for that notification that you have uploaded another one!
LoL @ Ariel, "can you just leave me alone for 5 minutes bud..." You two are so in love that you can't even fight right. Definitely a difference in quality from 40 years ago, to now, in any of the freeze-dried foods including MREs. That was a fun little video, thank you so much for sharing some time with us.
Jimmy
Loool Ariel is my queen. She’s so funny!
She is adorable!!
You guys are incredible we love your videos
Loved the chit chat at the end, you guys are the best.
🔔 notifications for you guys was the best idea ever
Agreed! It's the only bell I've ever pressed😍
That dog sled is rockin! Very nice! And 41 year old turkey & chicken ?? - crazy! Soak up that sunshine while ya can, cause it’ll be a little while before you’re getting 20 hrs of that again 😉 😜. Fun stuff guys, love it!
Y'all are just so awesome. I love this channel more than any other.
Over a month of binge watching and I am finally current! Bittersweet. Thanks for sharing all of your endeavors! I have really enjoyed watching the dynamic the two of you share. Keep up the great content!
This is one of 2 maybe 3 channels that I just can't wait to see the next video.
You two are just absolutely terrific. Know it.
Sending blessings to you both from the Vineyard.
Stay strong.
No belly aching! Thank goodness. Thank you for taking the time to share.
That sled looks cool. And room for lots of blankets for the dogs. 44 year old dried & vacuum packed food? Wow! I bet it tasted better with veggies back from when stuff had flavor. Loved your chit chat at the end.
Another satisfying video from my favorite couple... watching ya’ll eat anything is so enjoying.
I think the ending was my favorite I really enjoyed that last part
Love the temp, date, sun rise and set times too. Gives real perspective to the reality! Thanks.
Mountain House should sponsor this video! What a great testament to the quality and longevity of their products.
Haha yes 40 yrs ago they made everything better! The end clip was funny.. peanut butter jelly time.. the 2 of you are a treasure, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for doing the Mountainhouse taste test.
I watch another channel called Alaska granny that I love and she teaches us all how to prep for emergencies and she always talks about Auguson farms and recently she’s talked about mountain house which is supposed to be a favorite with all the hikers and campers. So this is really helpful and this is such an interesting segment if the food actually is still palatable since 1980.
Thanks so much for once again a fantastic program I cannot wait to watch you each night.
I’m crying....I love your sweet fur babies! Y’all are such excellent pet parents. Glad I subscribed to your channel!
Jus a heart ❤️ felt hello. Love watching you and all your knew “toys” and thoughtfulness for your dogs 🐕🙏❤️❤️❤️Blessings.
I have been watching old videos until I got a notification for a new upload. 🥰
Please do more clips like the last bit.... absolutely loved the sunbathing/lizard clip. Shows your fun personalities.
Thanks for the videos from a rainy UK in the middle of a severe lockdown 😀
You can't get any more real than the last few minutes of this video.
Those moments Ariel had I've experienced before , not sure what to make of it but I feel it's good thing. enjoying the moment 🤷 maybe.
You guys are so self sufficient-amazing. Great teamwork
I can’t believe you’ve never had Turkey Tetrazzini! Was a staple cafeteria lunch item for us in the 90s and sometimes quick dinner option. Basically a chicken pot pie filling with Turkey and spaghetti instead of rice or pasta. You can add cheese or something but not necessary at all.. we used to add fresh parsley.
Lots of pepper for ours.
It’s also pronounced VER-MA-Chelli noodles
Ahhh yes that’s it! I remembered having it but not where I’m an 83 baby but that’s where good ol cafeteria lunches in the 90s sounds about right lol
Oh i hate turkey tetrazini & spaghetti with chicken with red sauce!! We had that in high school in the 1960s & made me sick!!!
I love that you tried those meals!!!! Amazing that they were still good!
Plus, omg! You two are so cute!
Enjoyed the video. Thank You very much. Meals looked great. LOVED your spot....What a view....
dog cab styling 😊 thanks as always for your vlogs , precious
Great place to enjoy an authentic old school meal. Love the teamwork u to have.
Love the end of the video with the banter haha
I watched this 2x, just makes me laugh, dressing the dogs and taking them for a ride in their sled. So cute!!
LOVE you guys stay safe, very safe l travel to that Alaska when its winter, greetings from Germany
Thanks for sharing Eric and Arielle. Beautiful place and scenery for lunch, someday. Enjoy.
lol, love it! "Should I bump off a shot?" The answer is always yes!
I cannot tell y’all how much I love your videos. You are both so fun and inspirational! Keep them coming!
Interesting meal coming from the couple who put so much effort into growing an organic garden, ice fishing and making homemade sausage. Who knew you could just boil some water and enjoy a 40 year old meal.
Loooove these longer videos. Can’t wait to see you go back to the new cabin!
Very beautiful.. love the vids.. that dog sled looks like the two legged walker machines in star wars..
I’m obsessed with your show! I love it! Thanks for sharing. 🤗
Y'all are so cute, I love and look forward to your videos. Thank y'all for sharing!
eeee I loved watching the doggies put their warm gear on.
Enjoyed your video. It’s always good to have a day off and enjoy the sunshine.
Thanks for the dog cam in the sled! Nice to see them engaged in the trips too! 😀
The song was great in this one. Love the ending.
You look after your dogs so well. That looks like fun!
I agree this trailer is an improvement, but instead of being slammed down on a bump,I think the energy from a bump will be transferred up the ski legs and could throw the dogs off their feet and into those inside frame rails.Any trailers for carrying humans have had at least a leaf spring suspension to absorb some of the energy of the bumps you will likely run over at an unintended faster speed on a dull overcast day when you can't read the terrain like you could on your test day.I hope this doesn't come across as being too critical,as I realize the two of you love your dogs.Good luck with any future modifications to your pet transporter.👍😃🐕🐕
Mountain house stuff has always been good... I’ve never seen any that old though. It’s good to know it lasts that long... great for all sorts of adventures.
I hope the high profile doesn't flip over. But looks good.
This is awesome y'all! Awesome upgrade for the puppers and awesome for the Mountain House meals!
"Should I buck off a shot?" "I dont know if thats completely necessary" hahaha had me rolling. So cute guys.
Great video I love you guys I watch all your videos it was funny to see you being yourselves at the end having a little lovers tiff
Can't stop watching your videos.
Hi guys! Thank you for sharing beautiful scenery again and taking us on a trip with you! ✨I used to live in Canada and I miss the snow and crisp dry air. Would love to visit beautiful Alaska someday when this crazy Covid settles down. Love watching you guys! ☃️❄️
Boy the dogs look a lot happier about the improved sled - tails a'wagging and they get in and as they ride :) very cool set-up :)
you know i really enjoy the last 5 minutes
Back in the days everything was about quality That’s why it was so good
I want a 30 year old freeze dried snickers.
Thanks 4 sharing your day with us ....
And also thank U 4 putting
🎶 Bo the Drifter 🎶
on my music radar. 😊👍
I was so happy that you worked on improving the dog sled. Much better. A heated blanket for them would be nice too. Look at us all telling you what to do LOL. We love your dogs! You treat them so well, and adding the neck things to cover their ears didn't stay on once they got in the sled though. I must say I liked it though. You need to tell the company how good they were and may be they will sponsor a video for you! All you would have to do is show the bag and do what you did in this one. Although I love your cooking, but it would be nice to lets say have for the cabin. For emergencies, and not have to worry about animals getting to it. Loved your beautiful view. Stay safe and keep warm.
What a beautiful spot for a picnic 😍🥂🍾♥️ we should all try those meals
I see a Moose Tetrazzini in your future. Food probably was more whole food, less hormones, less GMO, less processed when those were preserved so I be it tasted good because it was basically organic-ish simple whole foods.
My husband and I are preppers. We love mountain house. We both love you both. Look forward to your video's
Oh one more thing, we used to put the meals back into the tin foil to keep the heat in and keep the meal warm while it was re hydrating.
William Rhea - I was telling them to do that through the screen haha.
Thank you for the video ... just some good old fun in the sun/snow...
Ok Ok I see y'all with the music. Loving the progression of the craft.
What an incredible life you are living. Thanks for bringing us on your journey
Awesome dog sled...perfect for hauling all sorts of stuff. Creative,
