I am puzzled why the timing cover wasn't pulled to inspect the components. The 350z is a cakewalk to repair compared to the transverse Altima and Maxima body. 2 of my 3 have nearly 300k each.
If the 'tapping' increases with engine RPM it's bottom end, likely bearings. If the tapping doesn't increase with RPM, it's top end and likely valve related.
As soon as I seen metal in the oil I wouldn’t have put it in that’s lack of oil changes causing abnormal valve train and piston ring wear as well as rod crank and cam bearing wear your going to end up with a headache the best thing to do is throw some forged pistons and rods with a better more balanced stronger crank in there upgrade the oil pump cams and timing polish and port the heads put in a performance valve train throw in a upgraded fuel pump and injectors and throw a turbo kit on it with a tune and run some real boost and power do some rear suspension work because those cars have bad wheel hop and it will be much more enjoyable don’t crank up the boost to much you still want it to be practical there should be a boost controller in a decent turbo kit but if it doesn’t have one just buy one I’d stay around 10-16 lbs of boost so you don’t kill the gas mileage while getting a lot more power and it’s a fun street car I love these z cars they make good power if you know what your doing but they do require a bit of work it’s not easy power but it’s rewarding try getting your hands on a last gen 300zx turbo👍
If the valvetrain in the vq is anything like the RB's, then it's probably just a stuck lifter. I'd say that the car has sat around a lot based on the mileage. That's because the VQ35 was originally designed for the Nissan Altima/maxima fwd applications and Nissan being Nissan decided to hell with it and all early VQ35 would blow up due to the dipstick reading incorrectly and impossible to read
Keep that in mind
Very common knowledge, especially to any vq35de owner.
@@sharkfinsoupp yeah well you be surprised how many people think that I'm wrong and how could the 350z engine be designed for a Nissan Altima that makes no sense
You see my point
good channel hope you grow quick
Lol this girl looks like I'm so proud of myself for working on a car. When in reality she's probably not doing most of the work. Ya stay the heck away from Nissan z's because their usually have a ton of mudded parts on it or they just never do regular scheduled maintain ace.
Your so mad your a useless inferior man
I love how no matter what men like you will discredit women even though you know nothing about her.
Tapping noises like that usually winds up being lifter tick, but dont take my word 100% i grew up around 4 cylinder engines im unsure about V6 motors.
Awesome. Need more women like you in the world....
As a Nissan mechanic. Drop the sub frame and engine/ trans. Way easier.
Neesawn! That pronunciation gets me every time 😂😂
She actually says it pretty right haha maybe a bit long, but its a japanese name, so for an American speaker, better than how most people say it
Pull the motor straight out the front, did the same thing when I swapped a 454 into my g35. Pull off the front in and it makes it easy peasy.
Your short videos are great, It would be cool if you had longer videos that are more in depth 👍🏽
That VQ sounded lime a goddamn helicopter
With all due respect, anyone that knows the Nissan 3.5, is certainly aware of the failure of the Timing components. I own 3 of them, and realize that maintenance is critical on these powerplants. I am puzzled why the timing cover wasn't pulled to inspect the components. The 350z is a cakewalk to repair compared to the transverse Altima and Maxima body. 2 of my 3 have nearly 300k each.
Thank you for posting these on RUclips now!! Found you from instagram
Nice work on the 350z🚙👌🏾👍🏾
U r 1 fine mechanic 🧡🧡🧡
If the valvetrain in the vq is anything like the RB's, then it's probably just a stuck lifter. I'd say that the car has sat around a lot based on the mileage. It may not need an engine swap but based on the oil, it wouldnt hurt. I just wouldnt rush into a marketplace engine when you have a low K's engine in it already.
9 shots. She’s insane
Sounds a lot like a piston and valve making love. Don’t know much about vQs but that sounded like my 7m after a valve started to hang
i wish my mechanic looked that good !
Have fun with that swap! You have to take the nose of the car off to get the engine out! I’ve done one b4 and never again!
I wish I had a friend like that to fix my Z!
drop it from the bottom with the entire sub frame, I disconnected the connection to the computer from the cabin near the cabin filter and then you can take the engine and subframe with the engine harness connected
I like your work, your work is clean and professional 👍, thank you ,anyway if I want to see the long type of your video where should I looking for
The same friend that gets upset when you ask her if she gots the tab when you go out
do you know me
I have a 2004 Infinity G35.....same engine I believe.....no problems @ 59000 miles and I hammer it every now and then
Damn you should do a video breaking down the budget, im interested to know what the prices are for something like this, to me engine swaps don't seem worth it until you get to a certain point in how much the car cost total. But you said you gotta good deal on marketplace, so I'm trying to see how much of a good deal it was to begin with if it works with no major problems.
That wiring loom with all the joins in it!
Doing this stuff is f’ing cool!
I have done one in a driveway for a friend, they are a pain in the rearend! If I had a hoist way easier!
Thanks. I'm looking forward to your video
