Love seeing younger guys hustling! Let me give you some advice. One. Get yourself 3 inch sanding paper and a backing plate. Attach it to your drill and that will save a lot of time of sanding by hand. Get some polishing pads as well! With tyre shines…a very important step is to actually clean them before with a dedicated tyre cleaner and a stiff brush. Jet washing them is not enough. There are wheel and tyre cleaners out there so you can use it on both. Use solution finish on all the exterior plastic bumpers (makes a massive difference) Fully decontaminate the car with iron remover, tar remover and than clay bar. Apply a hand polish on it to bring up that shine and hide some of the fine scratches away…at the end use a spray on rinse off wax to keep it protected and boost the gloss….
Nice job, Chuckle. A couple things I would suggest is: 1. Sand headlights with 600 grit then just spray a clear coat on them. 2. Restore the exterior trim using "solutions finish." 3. Before you extract seats and carpet, spray them down with a cleaner, agitate with a brush, then extract with water only. (Don't get them too wet because you will get stains that come back from the water wicking. Also, its a pain once the seat foam gets saturated.) 4. Use a water based interior trim shine, so it doesn't look super shiny. I like the new car look. (303 aerospace) 5. Use a glaze on the exterior trim to fill scratches (temporarily) and give it a shine.
Great job on your first. Way better than mine. My first one failed because way bigger problems than i could handle. After several months of resaving money I'm finally ready to try my second one. I'm being far more careful on this one. And I'm gonna start making car videos too. I gotta get whatever i can get going so i can escape retail and actually fucking live life and not be a cog in someone's machine to grind down and replace whenever they want
@@TopG-fn3py I actually won big on my 2nd attempt. Got a 01 blazer for 400. Owner thought the rear end was going out and it was blowing blue smoke. Turns out the grinding sound and smoking was caused by it struggling against the rear diff... because... THE REAR TIRES WERE DIFFERENT SIZES! Got the tire swapped for a matching one and that stuff stopped. Though the struggling for so long did tear up the axel bearing so we had to get a mechanic with a special tool to knock it out cuz we couldn't. I vacuumed up the interior and it looks really nice despite the years of Florida man abuse. About to do an oil change with the highest grade Castrol, Mobil 1 filter, and marvel mystery oil. Then replace the engine and cabin air filters. Then the ac blower motor resistor so the fan works at all speeds again. Then replace the broken air vents. Then maybe instead of getting the materials myself, get a 200 dollar detailing done for me. Resale could be over 2500 though blazers are kind of a dime a dozen unfortunately. But for now, I'm using it as a personal vehicle while I build a computer instead of getting another car to try yet. Because I almost scored a 2012 Chrysler 300 for 1200 from a tow yard and just needed a power steering pump (500 bucks) and a detailing. And resale would be 7500. I nearly shit myself. But turns out they left the ad up and somebody got it a week before me. So I went with the computer instead cuz I've been without one for over a year. But I'll get back to it after that's built. Haven't made any videos on the blazer though because I'm just so unconfident and unsure of myself. I got a phone camera, a lisp, bad reflection, and no editor. And my dad's been taking charge of the repairs cuz I get up too late for his taste cuz of my Walmart job and I only have the energy to work on it on my days off, so... ugh. It's been rough. I’ve been wanting to start this so bad for extra income to help fun creating more car content on my channel. The process of transporting in a costly manner and the whole title/paperwork situation, where I really get stumped. Then jumping into a deal that seems right.
Good job on fixing your sister’s car. She did you a solid by selling it to you for just $500. Hopefully you will return the favor by offering to fix her next car(s) so they don’t run ragged like this one did. Giving to others will help you get a lot more in return.
I detail cars as a side hustle, also using narrowing some methods from Chris Fix and I had no idea about a magic eraser! I’ll definitely have to try that out!
*For the headlights, I saw this trick either on Reels or RUclips but, they used MOTHERS 05101 Mag & Aluminum Polish on the headlights without sanding and it worked pretty well. I tested it out on my wife's Jeep, and it works super well and again, no sanding.*
Just make sure to be thorough in everything you do, the less corners you cut the more money you have a chance at making. I hope your first time goes GREAT!!!!
@@Chucklehead00 Hey, I'm really happy for your success man. It makes me think I could do it too. I'm practicing on my car right now, trying to fix the scratches inside haha
How much did you actually pay for the car? Did your sister just give it to you or did you sell it for her? I'm thinking about flipping cars with my dad and I'm 15.
I would suggest getting tools to do basic maintenance on your own car first and then from there you can learn and start looking to buy a project car if you like it.
For your first time you probably will mess up a couple times, I know I did at least but it’s impossible to fail as long as you learn from those mistakes so yeah don’t be scared that would be my best tip
Very good for doing this the first time, but I would say you have to put a little bit more effort into cleaning both the exterior and interior I know it's a bit hard and you get lazy with it since I saw there were some spots that you missed or weren't cleaned enough.

In Virginia you can buy up to 5 vehicles in a year as a private seller but if you reach that limit you could use some family member names 🤫
