I'm from Germany so let me give you some thoughts from someone who's born here. First of all, first time I watched the video I was shocked and deeply moved. The song/ video takes a very deep look into our german souls and how most of us feel about our country. It's a love- hate- relationship. The video is loaded with tons of symbols, that as a German you catch onto.
Let's start: in the intro you see Germania ( Personification of Germany) during roman/ germanian tribes time.
The red Lazer represents the "red thread" of the story/ history.
Astronauts from the future bringing Germania in a glass coffin (snow-white) so she can lead through the/her german history.
Next you observe the twenties(Weimar Republic).The prison scene representing the rough, violent times especially for the majority of the population struggling to survive. Money raining down/ the great depression. And Germany's first try as a democratic state. In between Germania is dressed in knight's armor awaking her knights/band with the Lazarus spear.
Next Germania is pushed in a wheelchair by the band through the Berlin Holocaust Memorial with burning bodies.
Next vignette the office scene showing east Germany and west Germany reunited (1989).
Then you're being taken back to mideveal times, monks/ church are feasting off of Germania. In most scenes you'll see some church man involved. No coincidence.
The concentration camp scene in the background you see V2 rockets ignition. The inmates are wearing different types of stars on their chests and a sign on the gallows reads: no photos. Germania wears an eye-patch first on her left, than on her right eye.
Than a quick shot of Germania dressed modern with lots of gold leading german shepherds., representing Germany's wealth.
The 70's scene shows the RAF- extremists holding Germania/ Germany hostage.
Next vignette is the witch burnings shifting to the book burning. If you have a close look, at minute @ you see a church man holding up a cross hugging a Nazi, symbolising the churches over all position to the horrific events happening during 1933-1945.
The birth scene. Germania is giving birth to dogs respectively "Leonberger" a breed preferred by Kings and Queens. The Breed almost went extinct during WW1 and WW2. A cardinal helping (dressed in red) a new Germany being born.
At minute @ you see the riots against refugees homes in the 90's in Hoyerswerda. Molotovs are being thrown and a car is being pushed over with the help of a man dressed in Nazi uniform.
Than the scenes/ time vignettes start shifting faster and faster, showing how many times, when circumstances becoming to extreme everything is falling apart and Germania ( dressed in knight's) armor is crying.
The outro is the piano version of the song "Sonne" which completed how we feel thinking of our past: a sense of sadness.
To sum it up. Germany has a long, wild, violent, unique history, because we as a state of today exist only since 1989. Yet the roots go back a very long time. "Young and yet so old" I hope that helped a little to understand the video and with that us Germans. We don't have a strong feeling of patriotism, but a strong sense of unity. It's complicated.

Looks like standard Hollywood - Michael Bay, Jerry Bruckheimer fare to me, but without the budget. Game-ish, you might be of a heavily gaming generation, which this is aimed to. (Not a reflection on the Band, I love Rammstein like I love Kraftwerk).
The woman in the video is the representation of Germany through the ages, she is the embodiment of Germania.

And in the video she is most of the time representing the German colours black red gold (so for instance either by wearing gold like the armour while she got shined on in red light or wearing red while in the picture frame is something in gold as well while she herself is already black.)
But with the insult you aren´t that wrong...because German Nationalist might feel insulted for taking a black girl as "Germania" and that is intended on purpose as well

The red light: What you would call "central theme", is what we would call "Roter Faden" in German, which you could roughly translate to "red line". What it means is that the scenes, which depict major conflicts in German hiszory, which had a profound impact on German society and general psychological make up, are all connceted by a central theme.
Funny in the Netherlands we call it "Rode Draad" and it means exactly the same thing. Wasn't actually aware that doesn't exist in the English language? Might be a Germanic language group thing.

The song describes the feelings of most Germans quite well, on the one hand you want to love (be able to love) your country, on the other hand we have that dark past.
"Germany by Rammstein: An Analysis - Three Arrows" explains most scenes quite well, mainly for non-Germans who know little about German history.

I'm german and everytime i watch this video I'm moved to tears. It's such a pain somehow and yet a masterpiece that tells the story of most germans, that want to be proud of their country but just can't because of the past. The music and the lyrics are so immensely perfect. This might be one of the best combinations of music and video a german artist has ever brought out.

Though we have been enemies, we are and always will be cousins. It pains me as an Englishman to read the complexity and the pain you in turn feel over the past. There is a lot to admire of Germany and of Germans. Be proud, cousin - we can only ever look to the future.

Ruby Commey (the beautiful black lady ) is a german actress. She is the female personification of Germany in this video. Example: In one scene, Ruby Commey is lying on a table and covered with food. In the box below her, tortured and maltreated people are locked up. The priests help themselves in abundance to the food on offer. During the Middle Ages, the Church was endowed with a huge amount of power and often used the abundant gifts that Germany had to offer for its own benefit. At the same time, the rural population suffered from the high taxes that had to be paid to the nobility and the church. Ruby Commey often appears in the video with gold clothes and red lips and eyes. Together with her black skin, this results in the German national colors. These are currently the colors of the German national flag and the coat of arms of the Federal Republic of Germany. The colors black, red and gold (yellow) were already the colors of the coat of arms of the Holy Roman Empire (1184 AD), not to be confused with the Roman Empire. A black eagle on a golden background with red claws. These colors appear again and again in the German history, for a long time as national colors of the Holy Roman Empire sometimes as symbolic colors against the state authority (German Empire).The entire video is full of references and symbols , which, among other things, refer to the changeable and difficult German history. Agreed, but if the whole video were analyzed scene by scene, or even frame by frame, with all the historical context of how, where, when, and most importantly why something happened, including the historical background, you could easily fill several hundred pages with it.
Just the major epochs like ancient Romans with Germania Magna, middle ages, teutonic knights, late Renaissance with witch burnings,1920's, Nazi era and books burnings, East Germany and the socialist era, 1970's West Germany and Baader Meinhof, the fall of The Wall, reunification but also xenophobic hate crimes, finally a potential future.
All of those historical periods would require its own chapter, without delving into how each period affected later periods. It would be worth a doctorate thesis to completely dissect it.
I'd argue this is the best music video of the last decade. It's an utter masterpiece.
Edit: It also contains something every music video should. Nazis getting shot in the face.
Not going to lie, seeing the stumps kicked out twisted a knife in me, and seeing those rifles was the come uppance I needed to see later in the video.

The intro refers to the Battle of Teutoburg forest. Germanic chieftain Arminius and his men crushed 3 Roman legions sent to put and end to the local rebellion. This event marks the birth of Germania es a nation, and you see her emerge from the crowd as a beautiful woman.
In German, the red line is the equivalent of Ariane's thread.
Small addendum: it says Germania Magna 16 A.D. in the very beginning. This is a few years after the original battle, when some punitive expeditions by the Roman Empire came back to the area, and found the bones of the dead still lying around.

The red line is also the color red. You see it often in scenes with Germania. Her skin - black, the lines - red, her armor - gold. Black, red, gold - Weimar republic and modern Germany's flag colors.
You can see it dramatically in the series "Barbarians"
The piano version of the song Sonne fits very well to the end of the video, because it shows that after so much chaos, there is still hope.
Unfortunate, though, that she chose to speak through the whole piece. I don't think it even registered.

@@frunktain I totally disagree ; for knowing only the lyrics beforehand she pieced together the symbolism well compared to other reactions I've seen ... and figured all but the dog symbolism out by the end ... which only German's would likely know ( the dog breed that was brought back from almost extinction by Germans . )

German is my first language - so as a native pls let me explain as concise as possible many of the hidden symbols and meanings in this great song: In advance - please apologize the mistakes that I have certainly made as English is not my first language :-)
Before I go through it just some general remarks: the black lady’s persona in the video is “Germania” and she represents Germany (the nation / the people) and in many scenes where she appears the colors black, red and gold (colors of the German flag) are dominant. The video as well as the lyrics are a critical review on Germany’s history.
Main scenes of the video: The first scene with the roman soldiers refers to the battle of Teutoburg forest, the first time the German tribes untied under Arminius against the Romans and ambushed them on their march back to their winter camp + completely annihilated several legions - the romans would never return and fortify at the Rhine - this could be seen as the birth of the German identity.
The red laser beams throughout the video I think are guiding thread (German expression “roter Faden”" translates to “red thread” and translates to guiding principle / guideline of a story)
When Germania (black lady) in golden armor (black red gold as main colors of the scene pushes the standard into the ground she raises all the dead medieval knights - a reference to the strength of the German people who recovered time after time throughout history from catastrophes (especially, but not only) in the middle ages (crusades, Hunnic invasion, plague, etc.) - the additional meaning i think is the fact that German people several times followed their countries call for War - even if they were already beaten up (e.g. after WWI going into WWII)
Next scene (fistfight) is from the roaring twenties, the period between the two world wars where upper class society was decadent on the backs of ordinary people + entertainment industry was born.
Next scene shows the Hindenburg disaster (famous German Airship which blew up in flames) during a time of growing industrialization 1930s.
Next Scene is from the communist elite in eastern Germany who was indulging in party and Champaign while ordinary people were poor and the main idea of communism should be equality of the people.
Then the scene in the middle ages - where the monks (representing the church) feast on Germania (the land) and suppress the common folk (underneath the table).
The scene in the prison again refers to the roaring twenties, as Germania is dressed in a Prussian uniform suppressing the German people. Additionally money is thrown away by everybody, a reference to the big inflation in Germany after WWI.
Then the rockets (Nazi German was working on the first warfare rockets called V1 and V2 (V standing for “Vergeltung” which translates to retaliation - fitting to the picture with the rockets, the lyrics are an alliteration on “über” a german pre-syllable/prefix meaning over. “Überheblich (overbearing / presumptuous), Überlegen (superior) Übernehmen (taking over), Übergeben (handing over), überraschen (surprise), Überfallen (ambush), „Deutschland, Deutschland über allen“ (Germany, Germany above everyONE). The line „Deutschland, Deutschland über alleN“ (Germany above everyONE) is a reference to one of the verses of former national anthem of Germany which was in use from 1922 to 1945 and got excluded after WW2 for being too nationalistic. In this verse there was a line “Deutschland, Deutschland über alleS“ (a subtle difference to the line in Rammstein’s version translating to “Germany, Germany above everyTHING”). The actual verse with this line was already written in 1842, long before the formation of Germany as a Nation (which only happened in 1871) - therefore “Germany, Germany above everything” was relating to the importance of uniting the several German ministates, kingdoms and Duchies into one nation. After WWI this verse got taken into the national anthem of Germany as it spoke to the patriotism of the German people but later officially excluded fomr the anthem since it was deemed too nationalistic. Today this verse/line is generally frowned upon and would be associated with Neo-Nationalism. Using this line in the scene with the concentration camps including the subtle change from “Germany above everyTHING” (which has already the nationalistic connotation) to “Germany above everyONE” which carries an even more nationalistic / racist meaning is a very clever double-reference to the doctrine of racial supremacy in the Third Reich.
The Concentration camp prisoners have symbols sewn on their jackets for the groups the Nazis hunted and killed (yellow star for Jews, Pink triangle for Homosexuals, red symbol for political adversaries (communists). Germania is on the side of the Nazis and has an eyepatch (representing the blind eye that many Germans turned on the atrocities of the Nazi regime.
The Scene where Till is dressed as a woman refers to the left wing terrorist group called “Rote Armee Fraktion” - a terrorist association in the 1970s responsible for several political assassinations and murders as well as a famous kidnapping of German Diplomats in Stockholm.
Then there is the scene with the stake at which books are burned by the Nazis and people are burned by the church (inquisition). Later the monk (church) and the Nazi soldier hug (as the church did not go against the Nazis when they came to power and both organizations were responsible for a lot of intolerance and suffering in their times.
The scene where Germania is dressed in white with a Halo I think refers to the positive, the strength of the German people who recovered time after time from several catastrophic disasters in their history. Later she gives birth to puppies representing the German people. The puppies are from a rare breed of dogs (Leonbergers) who’s population got almost extinct in both world wars (symbolized with the dogs wearing gas masks) but recovered after the wars. In these scenes the band members wear space suits - in my view a reference to the (hopefully) better future of the German people.
In the very last scene of the outro you can once more see Germania with national colors (black, red gold) with black lipstick, red eyes and golden armor before a red/ black background holding an eagle, the heraldic symbol of Germany. Finally, please find below the lyrics of the song as the perfectly convey the message of the problematic relationship many Germans have to their homeland, wanting to be proud of it but not being able to due to it’s difficult history:
One further remark to one of the more important lines of the lyrics: The line in this song "So jung und doch so alt" (So young and yet so old) refers to the fact that the German people with their idenitify have been around for thousands of years, however the actual state of Germany as a nation was only founded very late (1871) thorough the unification of several mini states (Prussia, Hessia, Saxonia, Bavaria, etc.) Here now the lyrics (copied from the internet):

i think its impossible to appreciate the lyrics of this video without being very skilled in the language. they play a lot with double meanings or very tiny changes to popular phrases that changes the meaning completely. beside the artwork of the video and how the song rocks really hard the lyrics are a masterpiece in itself

Agree. Major plots can be easily spotted, like the medievil, NS times, the glimpse into the GDR, but for minor, way shorter presented shots you really need to look more than once to actually see them. Also properly connecting them to the correct situation feels tricky. When they show the tank and the troups in front of the Marx memorial, for example. I still couldn't figure out if it's related to the workers riots of 17JUN53 or if it's to be seen in the context of 13AUG61 and building the wall in Berlin, tho I lean more towards the worker riots...
Overall such a great music video with a rush through German history with so much to see, discover, decipher.
The color sheme explained: red (beams), gold (armour of Germania) and black (backgrounds) are the National colors of Germany. You can clearly see that all coming together in the last scene in the credits: PoC Germania with a golden armour is holding a black eagle and in the background the red lights. That eagle is in the german coat of arms aswell.
That song is literally packed with symbolism, colors, history. Masterpiece

Once you understand the video and how it corresponds to Germanys history you will realise that this is one of the most amazing and beautiful works of art you will ever see, the woman represents germany as in the land, that’s why they feasted on her and why she gave birth to the wolves. This song gives me goosebumps every single time I listen to it..

The dogs are Leonberger and after WWI there were only 5 of them left. The fact that the breed was saved from dying out is sometimes likened to the fact that Germany post war nearly crumbled but preserved. Well, until WWII when nearly all of them died again, because they were used as service dogs... the breed is still around, but it was a close shave.
What an awesome song. What I love most about Germany is how Germans are able to look at their past without fear and bring it on over the table. All their worst demons. That's something rare among nations.
No, not really. Hitler is getting censored here I Germany in Historical Videos. Anywhere everywhere is censorship of the past. Lately Analena Baerbock (a subhuman like species) wanted to hang off Bismarcks picture somewhere in a political Office. Its like the Americans would spit and kick George Washingtons picture. Bismarck was the founding father of this unified germany!
I am not a big fan of Rammstein or this musical genre in general. But this song and video is just art. I can't even count how many times I've watched this. It is brutally beautiful. It is traumatizingly perfect and hurtful true. This is the best music video, I've ever seen. I mean it, there's no other one, not even Thriller, that I love this much. It makes me sad and hopeful at the same time. It leaves me in a state of melancholy that lasts a while.
"The red wire" or "red thread" is an expression in German (and many other European languages), which means something akin to the common theme or leitmotif.

This is the most incredible music video that has ever been produced.
It's obvious that the video itself was just an unreal visual experience, but I think the credits accompanied by Sonne tied the entire piece together. After watching that video your senses are kind of overloaded and the hauntingly beautiful piano soothes your senses so-to-speak.
I've watched this Rammstein video SO many times, and I just keep picking up brilliant details.

In Swedish and other Nordic and European countries, the expression “red thread” (Roter Faden) refers to the core idea or theme of something. You did a good job on getting what this is about. Especially for an American. I feel you almost need to be a German historian to get everything going on in this video. Yes, it is about the ambivalent feelings Germans (Till in this case) have towards their country/history. That's why 'Germania' is carrying Till's head around and 'messing with it'. Till asks if you can love a country that has a history with so much bad stuff in it.
The Leonberger dogs (almost extinct during the world wars but revived) also are a symbol for Germany's downfall and revival here.
Till's 'cool outfit' is the 70s terrorism group Rote Armee Faktion or more precisely Baader-Meinhof group in this case with Till in the role of Ulrike Meinhof.
Rammstein wouldn't be Rammstein if they wouldn't be provocative so to play the goddess Germania they took a woman of African descent in stead of a blond white woman which would be more traditional. As the trailer for the release they just showed the holocaust scene which resulted in a lot of controversy (no doubt intentional, nobody missed the release of this video this way) including with the Israeli ambassador.

Saying the Leonberger almost went extinct is almost an understatement, considering that only 5 (five!!!!) survived ww1. Then miraculously the brought the breed back to live.
And then again literally only 8 (!!!) dogs survived ww2.
They were used in both wars to pull the ammunition carts due to his temperemant to be extremely loyal, self-assured, self-disciplined and insensetive to noise. They were commonly used on the front.
Its insane that from these 8 dogs Karl Stadelmann and Otto Josenhans were able to get the breed to a healthy size, and also without genetic defects due to the insanely small gene pool they started with. TWICE!

This Rammstein masterpiece summons up perfectly the complicated relationship many germans (myself included) have with our country. We are not proud about being german as other countries citizens seem to be. What is it "to love your country"? I don't know. What we do is: We remember. We know, who we were. We do not blame ourselves - but we hold ourselves responsible for saveguarding, that our presence is not a continuation of our history. As you said in your reaction: "It was so much chaos - so much carnage." That is our history: tragic, powerful, sad, violent, horrific. It is a special heritage. It is as the lyrics tell: Fluch und Segen.
This video should be added to the scholastic canon of practically any history lessons in schools here in Germany. And like "Du Hast" or "Engel", it is one of the best reasons to brush up on your German if it is your foreign language: None of the scholastic ballast of regular language classes, lots of emotional attachment ("So much for German efficiency" - movie references anyone?)

Probably the best music video ever created. Rammstein is still one of my favorite bands after 20+ years of listening to them. Nobody does anything like them.
"übermenschen", "Deutschland, Deutschland über allen", this means so much from WW2 and the shoah, this is insane ! And the visual, the colours (black yellow red), this video is a true masterpiece (and I tell it as a French having learnt for so long that Germans have been "the enemy"...) This is absolutely incredible, I have so many German friends that it can really shock but I think it's necessary, we need to look to the past and learn from it! It's the same for a lot of nations, being proud or not of your country (and we Frenchmen are far from being safe from criticism too... !), it's a video you should show in school for a complete analysis !
Regarding the colors:
They are a reference to the German flag being black, red and gold/white (depending on the time frame)
Obviously her being the black, the red spear of light and then her clothing being golden or white depending on the era they are depicting.
The red light is actually symbolic for 'roter Faden', which literally translates to 'red thread'. I think the closest concept English has to it is the 'common thread'. i.e. a certain theme that keeps coming back or keeps being referred to, in this case the theme of Germany's atrocities throughout time/history.
That said, I do think you're right in that it complements her color scheme to make up the German flag.
But there's also a more subtle reference to the flag's colors: the video itself. if you skip through it or drag to timeline around, you'll notice the most prevalent colors in most scenes are the black, red and gold (the last one mostly during scenes with fire and/or explosions) as well. It's a really cool cinematographic choice which works really well not only for the reference, but also for the mood of the video.

Hi Rachel! You nailed the pronounciation of both "Rammstein" and "Deutschland"! Yes, that were Roman legionaries in the beginning as large parts of today's Germany were occupied by the Roman empire which fought many battles with the Germanic tribes. When you asked whether the video showed any positive parts of German history I had to rewatch it. And no, I didn't spot any of the positive sides. Did I miss something? (For some fun Rammstein instead, watch "Dicke Titten".)
It is not supposed to have any positive or redeeming aspects. I think this song and video is an answer to Rammstein being accused to be a "right-wing" band because of their looks and even Tills pronunciation. The band members grew up in Eastern Germany (the GDR), and it is no surprise to me that they can´t love Germany.
@@stefanb.479 most of the ringleaders of the nazi scene in the "neuen Bundesländern" come from the old ones. they migrated to the east at the beginning of the 90s after the fall of the wall, because the radical upheavals there made it easier for them and gave them a better breeding ground. unfortunately, the governments since reunification have also made it very easy for them.
The scene where the Nazi officers get shot right in the face counts as positive for me - very cathartic indeed.

I’m german and for me this song is everything. In Germany the song is “banned” because they use a frase that hitler used, they aren’t nazis, they know all that is tabu in the most part but it shouldn’t be like that. I love my country but like you mention at the end I “need” to hate it because of the history, it’s like we feel ashamed of it and it’s normal but at the same time just ignoring it or making it tabu isn’t gonna help. btw the red light is there to represent the red color on the germanys flag, the woman that interpreted Germanía is in all gold (yellow) and all the rest that you see is black, all that combined makes the flag of germany. (sorry If I messed up english is not my strongest language)

This song explains, I would argue, why patriotism is so low among the German population. And why we find strong patriotism so inappropriate. We also find it inappropriate in other countries. There are not only the beautiful things about a country, but also the bad things that you should not close your eyes to.

It's worth looking into the breakdown of this video. I can't remember who did it but on RUclips there is a great documentary about all the aspects of German history this video depicts.
"And now she's dead." Or is she? Germania is sent out in a glass coffin, like Snow White, an old German fairy tale: Never underestimate Germany, no matter what curve balls were thrown at us, we always managed to come back on our feet. 2000 years of history, a lot of challenges and *really* dark chapters behind us, and yet we're still there. I think that is the sole positive aspect Rammstein really features in the video. A lot went wrong in a lot of situations, yet we've got another chance to learn from the mistakes we made and do it better in the future. A hope I actually share, so that the statement "never again" is not just an empty phrase, that we will not forget the past and help secure peace in our own country, in Europe and the world.
And yes, you can spend so much time analysing this piece, in lyrics, in music, the video, as you said, if you want even frame by frame. There is a lot hidden in small details that you really need to find to put it into perspective and fully grasp the scene that you see. And certainly a lot of images mustn't be taken literally.
Germania isn't a person in itself, it's an idealistic motive impersonating and connecting what was and is considered "German". I love the fact that they casted Ruby Commey for that role, as it doesn't serve the cliché "white, tall, blonde hair, blue eyes", and indeed her outfits are gorgeous.
The chaotic impression gets a little resolved once you look at one time frame at a time. Each plot develops on its own strictly following a scheme of introduction, buildup, resolution. The jumps from one epoch to the next make it into that massive bombardment of impressions which causes that overwhelming sensation.
To your question about the red light, in German we have the "roter Faden", literally "red thread", meaning a key motive, common thread, recurring theme. In that case that basically all of our history resulted into violence, war and death. That there is always something lurking in the dark to pull us back into old habits and that history repeats over and over again, closing back in to the first paragraph. Let's hope that we can escape that circle this time and make it a brighter future.

I've watched so many reaction videos on this music video and it BLOWS my mind that in the beginning it says "Germania Magna 16 A.D." and the end it says the actress playing "Germania" and people are still confused. The lack of attention to detail is astonishing by youtubers that make reactions their entire channel platform. You're the first one I've seen that has a brain and notices details within the video. Thank you for this! Also the dogs are apparently a rare bread of dog that only had 4 left after WWII that some german guy did genetic stuff to save the breed. So the implication is, could this be a possible future practice for all things german etc. Also any song by Rammstein that is on the live in Paris concert are the best live ones to do.
In their defense, most youtubers aren't aware of a lot of Germany's history, probably just the WWII and nazis part, and you get hit in the face with 9 minutes of constantly switching imagery, a bunch of which is symbolic to the point that if you are unaware of what it symbolizes, your mind just starts unravelling at trying to grasp possibilities. And while that's happening your ears are blasted with an awesome, hard-hitting song with lyrics most reactors can't understand but hopefully either have translations for on-hand or check them before reacting.
I've seen a few who actually have been able to pick up at least some details. But it is still somewhat surprising how few are able to figure out what the video is about.

This is as much a historical documentary as it is a music video and is not shy about going through the dark part of Germany's history. One thing I found interesting is "Mother Germany' while German has always referred toi itgself as "The Fatherland". The dogs are Leonbergers. A breed that almost died off in the 20th century. Twice. After each of the wars, there were only a few of them left. After WW2, there were only eight males left in all of Germany. The breed was about to die out as there was no return from that without massive inbreeding and genetic defects. It was only thanks to the help of breeders from all around the world... Czech Republic, France, Spain, and even as far as Canada and Australia that the breed, once the proud animal of Leonberg, could be saved. Some breeders, before the cooperation was secured, were trying to save them by mixing them with closely related breeds, like Labradors, but the outcome was nowhere near the original. The genes that make Leonbergers special were lost in the mix. The only way forward was to cooperate internationally. If I am not mistaken, the whole thing is a symbol of a new Germany, cooperating with others, and thanks to being open to others being able to cause a rebirth of a new German race.
And as to Germania... Neat how they picked a black actress and always gave her red and gold things to wear🇩🇪.

Rammstein is a great band and put on one of the best live shows of any band out there. Highly recommend checking out their songs live for amazing pyrotechnics and sound. I came across this band way back during the movie Lost Highway when they were very little known and have loved seeing how they have evolved and become so well known around the world.

As a German this perfectly describes the German "condition". We have such a long history going back to the first three tribes coming together and fighting the Romans through the dark ages to today. We know about the dark parts. There is this condition where you are not proud to be a German, but in a way you are happy to be one. In the end it is really complicated and there are soooo many details in this from the early Roman history to the badged on the prisoner uniform in the concentration camp (jews, gays, communists ...) to the Leonberger dogs in the end. BTW: the lady represents Germania as you read in the end, she is like the common denominator in all of this.

So - the dogs are not German shepherds - they are Leonbergers!
These wonderful animals were almost completely wiped out by the war - and the birth of these little guys represents a kind of rebirth. A resurrection of Germany after the war.
This dog breed comes from Leonberg, a town in south Germany - from which they are named - and were bred to look like the heraldic animal - a lion.
They are wonderful animals and are now found all over the world. I also have a Leonberger - for me one of the best family dogs I can imagine - if you have space, because they are quite big dogs.
Even in the USA there are quite a few lovers - for example in the Leonberger Club of America!
