"Coca-Cola, sometimes war..." My favourite line. :)
8:34 "Coca-Cola, sometimes cat..." ;)
Americans hate that but its true 😂
Same, because true exposure of this filth.
Like Israhell k1ll1n9 inocent people?
Sometimes?
More like ALWAYS at war somewhere... except under Trump.
What they are talking about is how America has made itself the centre of things that tries to dictate to everyone how to behave, live etc. You also see how he says specifically that "this is not a love song, I'm not singing in my native tongue...". They are absolutely correct. Many in other countries are tired of the American influence and perspective.
especially on the internet
It is simply what happens when you have a Superpower. This has happened throughout history with all large Empires. The one country that had the biggest influence on the world during its height of power was the British Empire, but hey, I'm just a history nerd haha
@@Revament The internet that America invented...ohh and RUclips, Netflix, your car, your cellphone and basically anything in your life that doesn't suck. Ramstein isn't wrong...but I don't think you wanna go back. Look where they're from...
Tired now sure, most Americans are tired of what we've become but most of us are still proud of what we've done throughout history.

Respect to Rammstein. Their criticisms of America here are pretty gentle compared to the criticisms they lay on their own country in Deutschland
Rammstein are equal opportunists when it comes to calling out political corruption.
When they mock "Deutschland Deutschland Uberalles," ahh so good. That video just spotlights all of Germany's history with no holding back
The German people have been through the ringer. But they themselves need to move on. And judging how they prosecuted the last 96 year old who was a teenager stationed at a concentration camp, they have not moved on and still live in fear.
@alpine1600s why should someone not be punished for aiding a genocide?
@@silasarpagaus3520because it was a teenager doing as his government, community and armed forces commanded to do. What did you expect a kid to do? Go to war with everyone in his world? It was 80 years ago and the guy is going to die anytime...do you think he's a danger to us now?
The "Mickey Mouse in Paris", in my opinion, is a reference to the fact that they have built a Disney Land in Paris, a city known for its culture, art and history...and now Mickey Mouse.
True. The wording "und vor Paris steht Mickey Mouse" is also the same wording that is used in German when an army is at the gates of a city it's besieging - "der Russe steht vor Berlin" for example, "the Russian is standing in front of Berlin".
The only Disney World in Europe!
FYI, it's called Eurodisney,
And that's actually the most visited place in France (non free)
@@CheGuevarab That’s a horrible sad fact! 😳
Using the term "cuisine" when talking about America is kinda bold too... ;)
America is famous for their cousins, sweet home Alabama.
Grade 10 History class. Our teacher was talking to us about globalization and how the US's influence can be found everywhere. He then turns on the TV, whips out a burnt DVD, puts it in and it starts playing this video with English subtitles. Lmao. Rammstein fan since
"And if you don't want to dance at the end, you don't know yet that you have to dance."
The videos are all available with English subtitles made by fans. All you have to do is search for it. Has the advantage that you don't miss anything from the video while you're reading.
And the Music comes from the White House.
Where is the Maneskin?!
People seem to confuse being bold with just being honest
This song shows in symbolic form that over the past hundred and fifty years America has regularly poked its nose into the affairs of all other countries in the world and imposes its vision of life and that everyone must live by their rules, while trampling on the traditions, culture and history of their own countries. And the events of the 21st century show that many people from all over world are already fed up with this and patience is already at its limit. I hope America will come to its senses and begin to live thinking about what is happening in their country first and foremost and let other countries live their own way.
the lines "fredom comes from all violins music comes from the white house" says it all.
I would say the lines "coca cola, sometimes war" encapsulates it better. Any thing american could be boiled down into those two fronts :)!!!
Canadian here, I LOVE THIS BAND !!! Yes, they are bold. Great reaction.
The song is from 2004 after Us invaded Iraq etc etc .
And yes it bold . Pointing out America is all over the place and neglegting there own native people etc etc .
The frase " We all living in america coca cola sometimes war " maybe says it all in one more or less .
Damn epic song and typical Rammstein controversial :)
They are basically criticizing how American influence affects the culture of other countries, which lose their culture
I myself am a native Portuguese speaker writing in English 😂
Do Brazilians sing about Portuguese invaders?
@@PROVOCATEURSK No, because the majority of Brazilians are descendants of Portuguese, Italians, Germans and other Europeans and Africans, for example, I have a Portuguese and Italian family.

Great reaction! Have seen quite a few of your Ramm reactions and enjoyed them so you now have a new sub. As you know its a vast rabbit hole you've entered so enjoy the ride! I adore this band. They are my fav band since I discovered them last May (long story). I love their sledgehammer approach and that they don't give a flying fvck if they offend anyone. Please keep going with the boys! 🤘🤘
Also: this came out right after the US invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. Was faced as a protest song.
Why would anyone protest the destruction of a death cult?
"Vor Paris steht Micky Mouse..." means Disneyland Paris. The song is about the "Americanasation" of the world. Conquer without war !
I can't translate the german word "Leitkultur".
Greetings from Germany ✋😊🇩🇪

@@carlosandres280 .....exactly....🤣🤣🤣...welcome to the clown planet🤡
there is a Disneyland in Paris,France which was pretty new when the song came out.
and its a war-term "x stands before Paris"(= a place) for a area, which will be invaded by the attacker soon.
And it wasn´t pretty popular for a long time(Simpsons S2F01)
And USA influence very much, but not always to the better(eating/food)
Mickey Mouse in front of Paris.... Translated that Eurodisney is in Paris and since Disneyworld is such a huge success in America, it would also be a huge success in Europe...
Newsflash it wasn't no matter how much Americans love they Disneyworld.
This whole song is a statement that no matter what the Americans think it's the best for them, then also should be the best for others and should therefore adapt the American way of life.
Now... Freedom in America isn't the same freedom we have in Europe. As one youtuber so delicate described the difference. Freedom in America is towards something. Freedom in Europe is away from something.
If you want to learn about American History what you didn't learn in American History class watch Volker Pispers on America with English subtitles..

Coca-Cola sometimes wars
The kitty scare was a wholesome moment! Thanks for leaving it in the video! :)
There's a behind the scenes from a few of their music videos in their youtube channel, were they talk about the meaning of the songs if you are interested
It's not bold, it's the truth.
Incredible band and an incredible song. As a Swede, I understand enough german (it's pretty similar to Swedish in some ways), to get the lyrics which makes Rammstein a must for every Swedish/Scandinavian metalhead! It's so awesome seeing how they're loved worldwide despite singing in their native language, very interesting! :)
Also a very thoughtful and great reaction as always, keep it up Ray!
Understanding basic German isn't that hard for us Swedes. However German grammatics are no joke...
@@hnorrstrom Yeah, 3 years of german in school tried teaching us that, and at least in my case, failed miserably 😂
@@Flokenx I managed the first three years but then in "gymnasiet" I failed miserably. However I have always been good at understanding so my teacher thought I cheated on that part.

Sehr schön gesagt 👍🏻
its an Amerika (USA) kritical Song. there are manny hints, (kill a continent of nativ ( americans) slavery of black peopel, may be, the moonlanding was a fake etc, america the worls police, and right ,the influence of amerca in the world.
i like your reactions very much ❤❤❤, i think you are brave to make a reaction to espacialy this song
"Cultural imperialism" basically
All of us in the green parts of not-America are still in the cultural and economic influence of America, whether we want to or not. Having grown up on a lot of American movies, TV, music, games and even fast food, I'm extremely torn on the impact. I love all those things but I also don't like how the world is homogenized and definitely not how we are all made to dance to their pipe when it comes to the economy...
unbelievable that this song turns 20 this year
WHAT!
I wouldn't exactly call cuisine to fast food.😄 And pizza is italian.
But what much of the world knows is the American version of pizza.
@@kbm2055 - Much of what world?

Another banger song and video from this epic rollercoaster band! I-ve seen them life about 20 years ago, still going on with amazing songs!
This is an old song!! But you are right, still producing bangers
"vor paris steht mickey mouse" has a few layers to it. it refers to disney land paris, but the way it is phrased also implies an army besieging a city, and its a general example of the cultural impact america has on the rest of the world. Plus this was made when opposition to the iraq war was pretty strong and germany+france notiably didnt join the war effort there, which led to some jokes about the US bombing france next.
Thoughtful and humble reaction as always, just a little idea: maybe check the lyrics before or after, so they don't distract you from some scenes of the video :) Keep rockin! Oh and just a little note: they critisize not only America for the Americanization, but also the rest of the world. Look, all the people from everywhere using American pop culture and products smile and do it without any problem. Rammstein look at the same at their own country, for example in Angst, Deutschland, Links 234 or Mein Land.
Not the social media, there was no social media, when Rammstein made this video. But yeah, Mickey Mouse in paris makes sense. The only european Disneyland is in Paris. I remember that it was a big deal, when they opened it in the 90ies. Unfortunately my parents never took me there. ^^ Yeah, the fast food industry is everywhere. I live in a very small rural place in germany, we don'thave a lot stuff here, the next supermarket is like 4 or 5 miles away, the next train station like an one hour drive by car, but guess what they have in my town? A Mc Donalds, a Burger King, AND a Subway Sandwiches. XD
The chorus sums it all up "We're all living in Amerika! Amerika ist wunderbar!(wonderful in german)"
Basically America soread its influence all over the globe so that native African people are eating American Pizza(An Americanizied meal from another country ironically)
Buddhists are eating Hamburgers(Americanized meal from another country)
And Muslims are wearing American Shoes.
Then the Chorus changes to "We're all living in America, Coca Cola, Wonderbra!"
Which shows how American culture isn't only influencing other cultures, but straight up replacing it (Wonderbra brand was a play on words from German Wunderbar)
And then it turns into "We're all living in America! Coca Cola, Sometimes War!" which shows how not only American culture is spreading but also American Interventionalism and NATO basically giving America a Monopoly on the World and military Deployments.
And at the end it shows that it was all a film studio, to show how the most American Advertising is fake and a lie.
I think they specifically chose the Moon landing because it was possible the biggest Acheivement America has ever acheived, 2nd biggest is probably development of Nuclear weapons.
Disneyland Europe is near Paris. That's the Mickey Mouse Part in the lyrics.
Yes, it's about influence, cultural and economical colonization, ...
To recap: America is selling its bullshit to the whole world! 😂😂😂
"Coca-Cola, sometimes war" bold - sure but also a kind of thought-provoking imho
The reference to the biblical dance around the “golden calf,” also known as the stars and stripes, says a lot.
I think is a jab to the United States thinking they are the center of everything. The term America refers to a some continents like North, South, Central and Latin…so maybe that’s why they portray their video with multicultural people. Still, most people view “America” as just the United States. Here’s a little lesson: those places are called “America” after Americo Vespucci, an italian explorer who explored the new contients during the XVI century.
It's a lot deeper than that. The song is about how American culture globally dominates and destroys local cultural uniqueness. Many of the examples given, the American food, Disney, the Coca Cola Santaklaus etc, are perceived as being of much lower quality than the native cultural elements they took over and replaced, yet it is impossible to escape.
Also, not sure about Germany, but when people here in Flanders say "Amerika", that is generally understood as the US.
THE SONG IS ABOUT AMERICA CONTOLING THE WORLD
I thought it was the god´s chosen people.
Hell yeah, more Rammstein!
Segunda reacción que veo, o tercera. Y casi nunca entiende el sentido de las canciones. Me deja anonadado, a veces.
I've seen them twice in concert, and they're amazing. Just wish they'd tour in North America more.
Cultural Imperialism, and Imperialism, and globalisation, which is the same thing. Secondary implication - since there's only one empire, and its influence is everywhere, if anything is going wrong anywhere, it is the empire's fault. Everyone else is just reacting to what America does and causes. Although technically imperialism is just the highest stage of capitalism as a world system.
Eagerly awaiting her reaction to a live performance of "Buck dich"! 🤣
Their official videos are pieces of art

you should search Rammstein's videos with subs lirics on screen because there's so many details probably you missed it or reads the lirics before Rammsten always were bold to talk about of topics like this or even more darker stuff since the beginning of their career almost 30 years ago you should try Rammstein mein teil live it's always worth to watch them live.

Hey! Just found your channel on RUclips while I was watching some Rammstein reactions.. I can really recommend you to listen to "Ohne dich" - it is one of their best songs in my opinion and also a really beautiful ballad! :)
With the lyrics they are basically criticizing the American "cultural arrogance" as they call it by being everywhere and influencing other countries quite heavily.
Look at the Song Rammstein"Mein Teil " LIVE, it is a Song about the cannibal from Rotenburg. It is the best Song of rammstein.
Greetings from Erfurt
This is such a hidden song; but it's also pretty classic.
A very interesting song, 1st time hearing it, alot of intruiging historical stuff in the song.
Yes it’s saying America is everywhere but not in a good way
The United States launched a massive missile strike on Yemen. January 12. That's right, Coca-Cola, sometimes war.
this is so soft
I'd love to see their live show but I luck out or slips my mind and I forget.
how can you understand a video whentou watch at another screen ?? and it seems hard for you to say that Rammstein tells the truth in this song
The song is simply about America spreading everywhere and the past and history of the country also having some "critical" moments. The song “Deutschland” is about the less beautiful history of Germany.
Understanding german makes you appreciate more the subtile humour and the play with words in the lyrycs.
It's not just that American culture has spread everywhere. I think the lyrics are clearly addressing that the US has _imposed_ themselves _on_ everywhere:
"I [the US] know the correct steps
And I will protect you from missteps
And who does not want to dance, in the end
Does not know that he must dance.
We create a lovely round dance
I will show you the direction"
The US acts as if they have a divine mandate to dominate the world, though "dominate" isn't the word they use. And by the end of the 20th century, they basically succeeded. Any challenge to that and they respond as if the whole world is being overturned, which is (in a sense) correct, though most people in the world sees challenging their dominance as a positive thing.
listening to Rammstein you always have to cope the unexpected.
I still don't know if this is a declaration of war or a pledge of love.
For me as a native and still resident German this still is a riddle.
enjoy the video !

This is not a love-song."
@@antifaschi7869 ja klar, spiele ich darauf an . . . NATÜRLICH ! . . . und jaja, den Verdacht hege ich auch schon länger
First of all: "it's not a love song", it's in the lyrics. 🙂
The song is about American influence on the world. Including soft power (which is the culture of the US often adopted by other cultures, McDonalds is pretty well loved by many kids around the world, Hollywood movies and series are watched a lot, English being so well known, etc.).
But it's also to criticize other cultures adopting it instead of keeping their own culture.
"This is not a love song" refers to a song by PIL with the same name.
Just some info😁
When he says Micky Mouse is standing in Paris he is refrencing Disneyland Paris
Which again is something American which has made it’s way over the sea
Great reaction ! Some context : this song is from 2004, so there was no social media back then, even Facebook was barely launching. And to top it off, nobody really had internet either, or even the will to translate their songs. Hence the very rare english lyrics, to make it clear to everyone that it's NOT a song to the glory of America. The fact is a lot of Rammstein fans by that time, both in Europe and abroad, believed they were a nazi band (mostly thinking it was a GOOD thing, smh) because they sang only in german and the rythm was very martial. They did a piece in 2001 called "Links, 2, 3, 4", that adresses this issue, stating "they'd want my heart to be at my right (as in right wing/nationalist), but when I look down to it, I see it beating from the left" (with the double meaning "left wing" and, obviously, where it's mostly encased in your chest cavity).

That part of "my mother tongue" is pretty real stuff. In my native language I can instantly count about 10-15 words that have analogs but most of the time you'd face them you would see just translettered (or what's the word) english onces. Even without touching game industry. That's much worse.
Sonne is a great song of theirs.
Fantastic 😂😂😂
Its funny how the song depicts that america is everywhere except the moon😉🤣
The funny thing is that in the album Reise, Reise right after this song is Moskau, song about corruption
It being Rammstein, and this is just my humble opinion, nothing more, this is far from being a compliment towards America. I think it’s a view that, yes, American influence has spread far and wide across the globe, but it’s not the sugar coated fairytale America that is portrayed to the world, there’s a barely disguised tongue in cheek observation of some of the darker side to American culture and history. One image that really caught my eye is the older man praying on his knees.. as the shots pans out, we see an oil well burning in the background.. is he praying to god, or worshipping the oil..? Very interesting video, very deep, and as is always the case with Rammstein, not all is as it first appears! So, that’s just my poor opinion and tuppence worth!
"this is not a love song" they are not even trying to hide it.
Yeah, this is definitely a scathing review of America’s influence on the world. RAMMSTEIN isn’t afraid to tell it like it is.

Hallo from Germany.
This song is about US imperialism. "Die Musik kommt aus dem weißen Haus", means translatet, "the music comes out of the white house", what means, the white house says what to do or not.
"wer nicht tanzen will am Schluss, weiß noch nicht, dass er tanzen muss",
Translation
"Who don't want to dance at the end, don't know, that he must dance."
It means, who don't want to do, what the US government want, will get forced to that. With economic power, or military power of the USA what happened many times.
rammstein points the finger on the cultural and economical imperialism.
you can dance with america, as long you follow their rules and values. but america has the "right" to prevent you from making "missteps", if required with war.
