Fantastic reaction, loved it! Always appreciating Americans analyzing "Amerika" ❤️ The idea for the song came up during the first war in Iraq, thus all the criticism - even stronger when you see the video 😉 and the "Coca-Cola, sometimes WAR" part 😎 How about reviewing "Ich Will" official video? This is a masterpiece, a mini movie that many would love to see as a full-length one in the cinema ❤️ Please search for one with the subtitles, there are chammels like educatedmarine 😎 Enjoy and have a great weekend! ❤️
Yeah it's basically about the influence america has on the world in all aspects and pushing their culture on them. For me it's not always a bad thing to give opportunities but it's usually portrayed as ''the true way'' and i think this is what this song is about
You are right. Till has an exceptional voice. If he was in opera, he would be highly acclaimed by every critic, but he is in Rammstein, so the establishment has not noticed his ability.
You're absolutely right. But there are classical musicians who definitely noticed it. Then there are people who still haven't noticed what a great voice he has.
There's plenty of great music in Europe but for years American music has been limited to what they want you to hear rather then giving you other options even the u.k. top ten many of there musicians struggle to get noticed in the U.S. great song and keep up searching for new European bands i came across a musical concept band called Ayreon that intruduced me to so many other bands and vocalists i would never have searched for. Thank you for your time.
You're right! But all is business and right on the money. Bands in Europe have a bit more freedoms or take them anyway. There's more creativity and also colabs between bands and singers, that makes the European music market more interesting.
@@norwegianmaster744 Absolutely. We all have our own local metal cultures too, it's beautiful! After living in Germany and Finland it's really interesting how our cultures incorporated this type of music.
Rammstein-Songs are like onions. You can peel off layer after layer. And everyone sees other meanings. "Die Freiheit spielt auf allen Geigen" freedom is played on all violins - freedom ist the big american story and this story is told to the world in all kinds of propaganda. "Musik kommt aus dem weißen Haus" music comes from the white house - in german the meaning of "who let´s the music play" is "who is in charge, has the power . "in front of Paris stands Mickey Mouse" The french people gave you the Statue of Liberty, and what gave you back - Mickey Mouse? Every word has a meaning!
apparently, Amerika is the tame version of a song that was initially set out to be a very definitive anti-iraq-war stance but was later developed into this. the band said that their initial idea was very much too partial for their style (and it wasn't their collective idea, but I forgot whose exactly, and am too lazy to get the book about them in which I read that tidbit of trivia)

In response to your last question, which Rammstein video should come next, every fan of the band will probably answer: It doesn't really matter if you only care about subtitles. .. and that's all they wanted: a little hint to think about and discuss. And that worked fine. "Zick zack", for example, is meant in a similar way: funny but also critical of society.
Great Reaction, as other mentioned i recommend the subtitles from Educated Marine because Autotranslate is very shitty with german. Rammstein hide many double meanings in the songs, often it get lost if you translate it literally. Rammstein discography is big and you will find many good songs, but if you want a US themed song again i can recommend "ANGST" from the last album. Its a very great song and the symbols integrated are powerful. Also of course i recommend "Deutschland" because every german can relate to that song, they really captured the feelings many germans have to our nation.

The song probably sings how America controls the world, wants it and everyone dances to its tune, figuratively speaking. For example - Wenn getanzt wird will ich fuehren, Auch wenn ihr euch alleine dreht, Lasst euch ein wenig kontrollieren, Ich zeige euch wie's richtig geht, (When there's dancing, I want to lead Even if you turn alone Let us control you a little I show you how it's done,) Or - Ich kenne Schritte die sehr nuetzen, Und werde euch vor Fehltritt schuetzen, Und wer nicht tanzen will am Schluss, Weiss noch nicht dass er tanzen muss. (I know steps that are very useful And will protect you from missteps, And if you don't want to dance at the end, Don't know yet that he has to dance). And then another - We're all living in America, amerika ist wunderbar, We're all living in America, America, America, We're all living in America, coca-cola, sometimes war, We're all living in America, America, America. Here it is so clear. Vietnam, Iraq, Yugoslavia, Syria, Afghanistan, etc. At the same time, everyone in America, that is, they eat hamburgers and drink Coca-Cola. And the scene at the end, when the video is being filmed, is a joke about America's flights to the moon, which, according to many versions, are considered fake. One big lie. If only because the flights were so long ago and turned out, and then the technologies developed, and the flights all stopped, strange, then they refused to give this soil to anyone for a long time, etc. Probably they wanted to say this in the song secretly, it seems to me so, I could be wrong.
Criticizing someone without insulting them or telling them directly is certainly a skill that was very useful in the communist GDR, where they grew up, if you didn't want to get in trouble.
They have songs about other countries they relate to as well like their song "Moscow" or the song "Deutschland (Germany)" never against the people but against certain stereotypes or politicss :) From Rammsteins background growing up in a dictator ship of east Germany one can see why they are not fans of too much political control or influence

It's actually not only criticism against America but also to all the other cultures adapting, you know. Everyone's smiling drinking coke, eating Pizza and so on. Rammstein have a very 2-sided perspective even to their own country. To Russia, too. They just speak it out loud.
Well, as being german, i have to say, that America (the US) was getting pampered - compared to the video they made about "Deutschland" (Germany). The newer videos are going way deeper, anyways. Deutschland, Zeit, Mein Herz brennt (piano version) are real masterpieces, imho.
This was written in the wake of the second American invasion in Iraq. Remember Condoleezza Rice's infamous quote, "Punish France, ignore Germany and forgive Russia"? Not a good look for the U.S.
A 'lovely' german example of capitalism next to cultural monuments is in Ulm. The Ulmer Münster is a Lutheran church located in Ulm, State of Baden-Württemberg. It is currently the tallest church in the world! The church is the fifth-tallest structure built before the 20th century, with a steeple measuring 161.53 metres. When you come up from the central metro station you could see it in all its glory at the end of a huge shopping street. They build a McDonalds in the middle of the road so now you can not see it anymore when you come out of the metro. There is a second McDonalds 100m away in the metro station... The new second McDonalds does not only block the view on our gorgeous huge minstral but also stands right next to a monument dedicated to Albert Einstein. They built a fucking McDonalds right next to where the house where Albert Einstein was born was bombed in the 2nd WW. WTF, Germany?
Rammstein is always telling stories, sometimes about sex, sometimes about weird stories, but also political stories. And they are great to do it with irony. Mann gegen Mann (Homophobia), Mein Land (Refugees, Patriotism) and Deutschland (Shame for the own country) are political songs and with to see the videos. Nice reaction and you got exactly the point. Rammstein grew up in GDR and they are political left. They are against to much patriotism and capitalism.

I'm German and I have two different views on this song and the video. Of course Rammstein shows up how big the impact of America/USA and the American way of life is on the whole planet. And it is, no doubt. But on the other hand I think Rammstein also want to show up how easily open Europeans and other people on the globe are for the influence of America, and how easy we give up our own cultures just for a burger and a coffee from Starbuck's. Am I right or wrong? Let me know. Kind regards from Germany.

Yes but it's not only criticism about capitalism and consumerism, it's also about playing world police, becoming a military (industry) state living by going to war (oil, ressources, special trade conditions by overthrowing governments installing their own "america-friendly" government/dictators, "bringing democracy" with peace-bombers and warcrimes, not finding WMD in Iraq, admitting to false flag attacks to start or get involved in wars) as well as overexaggerated patriotism which is basically becomeng racist and ignorant agains the world #nationalsm

You won't hear mutch from european bands in usa. Usa blocks forgeiner artists out a lot. European bands focus more on europe latin america and asia( especially japan). Usa/Uk tend to look down on artist which dont speak english. So have fun exploring the rock and metal scene in europe is big ^^
2004 was another year where the USA was very keen on war, killing the people in Afghanistan wasn't enough, now it was Iraq's turn again, a war of aggression contrary to international law was being waged there, everything was senselessly destroyed, including the people live in chaos and these wars are not fought for peace, freedom and human rights, but to get the mineral resources that these countries do not want to give up voluntarily. But the inhuman capitalism in the USA urgently needs these natural resources, and domestically it's just better if a few Muslims die than greedy Christians in their own country, who are also allowed to vote. George W. Bush actually belongs after The Hague before the International Criminal Court, but he lives in a big country with a big army protecting war criminals. And that people have to die again and again for this form of capitalism, in the US too, of course, there primarily the indigenous population and otherwise just where it is just right for the moment is something that the world simply can no longer come to rest.

@@arnodobler1096 I was just making a little fun. So many European bands are quick to criticize America, yet they don't refuse our money, and they all seem to want to succeed here. Not that the US doesn't deserve some criticism...it does, definitely.
@@arnodobler1096 I 100 percent agree with that, and on many levels, not just great songwriting criticizing the US. I grew up in the 80's...at least the formative teenage years, and I grew up among the best era for music in US history. The 60's and 70's had produced many great songwriters, and the 80's brought a dying music industry back to life. The 90's brought about grunge, which I'm not a huge fan of, but respect. Music in the latter 90's forward started to really suck, so I fell back on classic rock and metal, but eventually grew tired of it. I almost completely lost interest in music all together. Then a few years ago, I decided to check music out again, see what was new, and if it interested me. I discovered reaction videos on YT, but mostly watched vids where the reactor was watching music I already knew. Then I saw that a lot of reactors were watching one particular song, and it was being watched over and over again. I discovered Nightwish (the song was Ghost Love Score), and found out great music was being written and made. Then I found Sabaton, and Rammstein, Epica, and all of Marco Hietala's projects, and was blown away. What do they have in common? They are from Europe. Nothing from the US does much for me, although I like Ronnie Radke and Falling in Reverse, but his music is getting a bit repetitive. So I agree. Not only is the day gone where US songwriters criticized America, but great American songwriting in general is gone. Autotune and copycats rule the US now. So many artists here just copy older artists, and couldn't write a song if their life depended on it. I love European, and some Japanese, music much more.
cut it short...nobody likes "america". Who would? back when i was a kind i watched knight rider and Dallas. Good times....when you grow up and get education and knowledge: no. My country has pretty much everything better with every meter. (not foot, or ounce) nordic countries are top 10. Criticism what you should do yourselves. You can do it...trying to cheer up somebody as finn...nah lol

For example -
Wenn getanzt wird will ich fuehren,
Auch wenn ihr euch alleine dreht,
Lasst euch ein wenig kontrollieren,
Ich zeige euch wie's richtig geht,
(When there's dancing,
I want to lead
Even if you turn alone
Let us control you a little
I show you how it's done,)
Or -
Ich kenne Schritte die sehr nuetzen,
Und werde euch vor Fehltritt schuetzen,
Und wer nicht tanzen will am Schluss,
Weiss noch nicht dass er tanzen muss.
(I know steps that are very useful
And will protect you from missteps,
And if you don't want to dance at the end,
Don't know yet that he has to dance).
And then another -
We're all living in America,
amerika ist wunderbar,
We're all living in America,
America, America,
We're all living in America,
coca-cola,

We're all living in America,

*I don't speak my mother tongue.*
[Double meaning, because the literal meaning is nonsensical. The singer is saying he's electing to not speaking German here so he can be understood by (US) listeners, the cliche being US Americans only understand English.]

consumerism is a good thing, but everything has its limits, nothing in excess is good
A 'lovely' german example of capitalism next to cultural monuments is in Ulm.
Thank you so much @merileopardisaksassa7030 for your comment! Love it!
Judging by the face, only the girl roughly understands what it's about, the other "so funny"

There's no way a dude that looks like 70 years old have never heard about Rammstein - Amerika.
you should checkout the Slovenian group Libach and their 2006 album Volk they rework the lyrics of various national anthems. they are another really interesting group that got their start under the control of russia absolute masters of unusual cover versions

Great reaction. Have you ever listened to the song Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2013 by the band Nightwish? I think you'll love it!
Thank you for the song suggestion. To make it official visit our website to get it on our official list. www.galaxyjamsreacts.com
'this is not a love song' is a bit of a clue
And this phrase is a reminiscence of P.I.L.'s "This is not a Love Song".
@@susannewitt6112 yep. I've always assumed that that was the 'inspiration' for the line though I don't know if the band have ever said.

We love all types of music, even when it's not english. Thank you so much for watching.
Great Reaction! Please react to: Nightwish -Ghost love score ! Live at wacken 2013 !!
Going on the list! Thank you! Subscribe and hit that notification bell.
Check out Deutschland, impressive video made by Universal Music and Rammstein.
It is obviously always aginast certain politic and never about the people that live in a country :D
Thank you for the comments Matti!

"coca cola, sometimes war"
Coca Cola wonderbra. Wunderbar.😂
I wonder how many albums sales and money these guys make in "Amerika"
LOL, Right?
US Market is not bad for Rammstein, also Mexico and South America (best singing Crowd there)
@@arnodobler1096 I was just making a little fun. So many European bands are quick to criticize America, yet they don't refuse our money, and they all seem to want to succeed here. Not that the US doesn't deserve some criticism...it does, definitely.
@@genekent2391 Someone has to do it. The times of the great US singer and songwriters are unfortunately over.
I love European, and some Japanese, music much more.
it's not "consumerism" it's imperialism, which is the ultimate stage of monopoly capitalism, which they are calling out.
Der refrain living in america tönt verdächtig nach living in america von the Sounds The sounds haben den song früher komponiert
Interessanter Gedanke
Guess most Americans don't want to know the lyrics. They couldn't handle the worlds opinion about the USA😂😂😂
a paorody
Wake up this is not a love Long 😅
Hallo.Sie sollten sich mal die "LIVE" Version ansehen.Super.
Hello. You should check out the "LIVE" version.Great.🙋♂
Einstein? Rammstein?

Эта песня высмеивает Америку как самую тупую страну в мире и пытается сунуть свой нос в дела чужих стран
cut it short...nobody likes "america". Who would? back when i was a kind i watched knight rider and Dallas. Good times....when you grow up and get education and knowledge: no. My country has pretty much everything better with every meter. (not foot, or ounce) nordic countries are top 10. Criticism what you should do yourselves. You can do it...trying to cheer up somebody as finn...nah lol
This is not a love song.
