The video to install these roof rails was phenomenal! I have the 2020 Honda Pilot and I went step by step as I watched the video. It was perfect! I used a Dremel Saw with the Metal wheel to cut the molding. I measured it and cut at 8" from the bolt hole. It could not have gone any smoother. Thank you for the guidance!!
Thanks for the excellent, detailed video. Just did this on a 16 Pilot and it went off without a hitch (other than breaking those same tiny clips near the liftgate hinge!) Your video made it very easy, thanks again!
Thank you for this amazing video. The links for the side rails has silver. My Honda is gray; couldn't find matching color but wondering if silver color can goes with my gray Honda color? Thank you in advance!
Glad it helped! I noticed you had asked a couple of other questions but didn't see them. We got our rails on eBay but they turned out to be original Honda rails because they had original Honda instructions with it. We should have gotten the crossbars that he also offered, but went cheap and ended up regretting it. We got the crossbars from Amazon and they didn't line up at all! To have the dealership do it for you could run you anywhere from 150 up to 650+, depending on whether you just have the rails installed, or if you add the cross bars also, and what dealer you go to. Not all dealers will give you the same price! Hope all of that helped you out! Thanks for watching and posting.
Glad it helped! Thank you so much for watching and posting. We also used a video, but the guy went so fast through some sections that it was frustrating which is why we made this one to help others. Thanks again for the encouraging post!
Great, great Video! Fantastic explanations of the entire process. You have no idea how you've helped so many. Keep the video's coming. Thumbs up and subscribed! CR from Florida and Michigan
Nice video/camera work. The ONLY thing I cringe when watching your video was when you use the black ratchet without using a longer extension so that there are more clearance between the ratchet and the roof. I thought there were several times when the ratchet hit the roof paint and may leave some scratches. Also, put a mat on the roof so your ratchet isn't laying on the paint when not being used, again, to prevent scratches to the paint finish. 😊 Again, great job!!
Thanks for watching! Depending on who you decide to order through, depends on whether they carry black. Some venders do, while others may not, you'll just have to check around on that one. We just liked the silver because it blended better with the white color. Black seems to be a more popular color, so you shouldn't have any problems locating it!
Great video. I bought the same railings as well. Can you explain how you installed the cross bars? I see from previous comments you had trouble (as am I), because the holes aren’t lining up with the railings. Were you able to find cross bars that fit, or did you do your own modifications?
Thank you so much for watching the video! Save yourself a lot of trouble and headaches, and DO NOT modify. Measure the distance between the two screw holes on the rails, order the right ones, and return the other ones that don’t fit. You’ll be glad that did!
Great video! I also broke both rear clips when I installed my roof rails. I thought it would be fine without them but I almost broke the trim piece when it got caught on the tailgate when opening. I ended up buying the plastic clips at the dealer and replaced them. I had to remove the broken pieces and glue the new pieces in place.
Thanks for watching and posting! Thanks for pointing out we forgot the link! I just added it. RUclips is a little finicky about links, so hopefully it is still there. Hope this helps you with your install.
To be able to put the new piece on you have to take them off. Quite the pain, wish the replacement kits included new ones so you didn’t have to worry about breaking them.
Thanks for watching and posting! We are so glad this helped! Big recommendation, don’t go cheap like we did. We should have just got the crossbars from the same person/company we got the rails from. So whoever you got your rails from then that’s probably the one you where you want to get your crossbars from. Also one other tip: make sure the two holes line up on each side before moving forward. If they don’t, you’ll need to either return them or drill the hole further to where they do line up. That’s the hassle we ran into and why we didn’t do a video on it! (This is why I say to buy from same person/company because odds are more in your favor that they will line up!) Hope this was helpful!
We actually didn't know that they existed. We wouldn't be able to use one because we also have a Stowaway that we would use at the same time we would use the Thule topper, which is about the only thing we put on the rails. But thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching and posting!
Thanks for watching and posting! The rails weren't the totally hard part, it was getting the right cross bars! We didn't do a video on the cross bars because it turned out to be a nightmare because we didn't just step up to the plate, dig deep into our pockets, and shell out a little extra money for cross bars that would have come with these rails. You probably saved yourself a little bit of a headache! However, we did learn a few things!
Thanks for watching and posting! They are still holding up, but if we had to do it again we would have gotten a matching set of rails and crossbars from the same company. We tried saving a few bucks and got them from different vendors, the rails are great but the bars didn’t line up with them so it was a fiasco of extra drilling and literally ruining back and forth to Ace. I still love the look of the rails and they haven’t given me any problems!
Thanks for watching and posting! We found out that 90% of the rails are made from the same factory in China, everything is just labeled differently depending on who’s distributing it. However, we would advise that if you are going to get crossbars, then purchase them together from the same place. The odds will be better that they line up right and you won’t end up having to drill holes for the bars and side rails to match up. We didn’t get them from the same dealer and ended up with that problem. We couldn’t find the rails on Amazon so had to go to eBay.
Thanks for watching! We purchased the roof rails from eBay, I’ll try to find the guy we bought it from. He also had a set that had the rails and the crossbars. If we had to do it over again we would have bought both from him even though it would have cost a little more doing it that way. The crossbars we also got from ebay, but a cheaper set and we were highly disappointed with because the holes did not line up. I don't know why, but I couldn't get the back bolts in, the dull ones. The other 2 went smoothly.

Can I install a thule box on these rails?
I believe you can! We had thought about the same thing. We just haven't bought one yet. Thanks for watching!

Good tip! I ended up using silicone, but I probably should have done what you did. Thanks for watching and posting!
They are made of brittle paper! I couldn’t believe how thin and poorly designed they are.
Great video. I liked the detail! Where is the link to the plastic tool kit?
