Hi Eileen, I chanced upon your channel in late July when I was at my most stressful period, and the video that "brought me to sense" was "luxury minimalism, why less is more". I used to buy a lot especially clothings. I had 4 wardrobes, about 140+ pairs of pants, 100+ tops, 60+ dresses, 20+ jeans, meaning I only get to wear each piece once if to rotate daily. For 20+bags with matching wallets, they were from pre-loved market as I could not afford from retail. Alas, I confessed rarely using the bags as mostly were impulse buy due to stress and of course vanity. Hence when I was stressed again in July due to financial issue, I crazily wanted to buy a luxury bag again. It sounds impossible but it was like a vicious cycle. Hence another video that hold on to my sanity not to fall into the trap of impulse buy was your "slow buying" video. Now that I got over the impulse and "addiction", I am truly grateful for your sensible advice. Of course we need to pamper/reward ourselves at times but with sensibility like what you have mentioned. I am also much happier now after downgrading to a smaller house which can be called a home now because this new home is without financial burden, heaty arguments and unhappiness. I don’t think your lifestyle choice is boring, you just prefer the simpler joys in life which seems to be under rated in this day and age. The “exciting fast life” everyone is trying to portray is highly overrated and has negative affects on you long-terms.
I think the "exciting" instagram/youtube lifestyles are for the most part fake anyway. Creating/filming/editing content and dealing with the business side means hours, and even days spent behind a laptop/desk.
I’ve been living an ordinary life for a very long time. Like decades. Weekends are normally just hanging out at home. Maybe take the family for local outings for hikes, the beach, the park and the local national parks. I haven’t been to a party in a very long time. Partying to me is small gathering with family during the holidays. We do like to travel 2-3 times a year. That’s what we find exciting and enjoy greatly.
Eileen, I find you authentic and mature. The majority of people complaining, have not yet awakened to true happiness - inner joy not elicited by external material belongings. Thank you for your "boring life" and "boring monotonous voice" - it resonates well with us, your audience.

I'm an introvert, and I've spent my entire life being called boring by other people because I don't like to go out to bars or clubs or hang out with people. I am totally ok with that, though, let them call me boring - my life may be quiet, but it's exactly what I want it to be. I spend time with my husband, and we love to travel and go to museums, and go out for dinner once in a while, but we are also homebodies, so there's a balance. I'd much rather connect with people online than in person, honestly, and it's really hard for some people to understand that. What might look boring from the outside is a rich life on the inside and that's what matters.
Same here. I used to feel like I “should” be out more doing things I didn’t really enjoy. When you remove the word “should” from your vocabulary, you become your authentic self.
I too enjoy the simple things. My morning tea before work excites me more than the thought of an evening glass of whiskey. Growing up this is how my parents were so I guess I got it honest. I gave the social life a try when I turned 21 but by then I had already been set in my ways and couldn’t bring myself to enjoy it lol

Eileen you are a kindred spirit! During lockdown, I also didn’t miss socializing and in-store shopping. I love to solitary activities like reading, walking in nature, people watching, etc. I think being introverted can be mistaken for “boring”. Recently I surprised myself about how simple my expectations and lifestyle have become. Ten years ago, I wouldn’t be caught in jeans that were not a contemporary designer label yet I was happy and completely satisfied purchasing a pair of $30 jeans from an outlet because they fit really well and were good quality. Congratulations on 30K subscribers! Keep creating content that is aligned with your values, beliefs, and lifestyle so your channel can continue to grow organically.

As an introvert, I actually enjoyed the pandemic period naturally except for getting sick. Not feeling the pressure to attend social occasions that I really don’t enjoy was great. Enjoying my home and nature was wonderful. I think there are a lot of people like us who enjoy a simpler life.
I am glad that over the years I have changed my mentality from "I need it now" to "Do I really need it?" I still struggle once in a while but I am glad I have changed my attitude.

I have really embraced being a homebody since being in lockdown and have let go of thinking you need travel, going to concerts and so forth to have an exciting life. Just sitting outside in the sunshine makes me happy. Reading a book. I’m more interested in crafts and kitchen stuff. If that’s boring to others that I can find contentment in the simple things that’s okay because it means I’m finding contentment in myself and at the end of the day, that is what we all truely search for. This is how I read that "my life is not fulfilling enough, so it would make me much happier if I could watch you buy things you don't need so that I can be entertained"! Your channel is growing despite all of those people who gave you suggestions on what you should change. Being authentic IS what makes you relatable! In this economic and worldly uncertainty, this kind of content is precisely what is needed.
I am sure that channels like this will become more and more popular. Endless unboxing videos are just overwhelming anxiety causing and inepropriate in tough times like we are living at the moment. When I want to make a purchase I may check out a review but that’s about it. It’s time to find joy in ordinary life rather than filling the void with material things.

Your tone, the way you speak and the fact that you don't buy things just to impress your audience and all the things you said that people pointed out as being boring are exactly the reason I watch your videos, and I can bet that many of your followers feel the same. You don't have to be like other youtubers, it's refreshing seeing something different and original content. We like you and your channel exactly for what it is!
I can totally relate to this!! My manager would ask me every week "what are you doing on the weekend" to create small talk and I would answer "I'm just going for walks, my life is not as interesting as yours, it's quite boring" and I realized after in fact it's not boring. It may sound that way to them but to me I find joy in the simple things in life.

I think you found the secret to heaven on earth. Good for you. I was much older than you ( around 42) when I realised “ boring “ was my preferred way of life. Travelling to me is not jumping around a million areas. It’s just walking around. Sitting in a cafe and watching the day go by.

You are so mindful & wise from what I see. My friends call me boring too but I am used to it. I am in my 30 don't drink, don't smoke, don't have bf, don't go to the clubbing (disco) like my friends/co-workers so to them it's boring. I never comment, but now I have to say something. I absolutely enjoy your content, even the more talky videos like this. I feel we are likeminded in the way that I also realized that luxury goods are not a must-have for my life and there are plenty of other (greater) things in life than spending your hard earned money on luxury but rather using your time for your private life instead of shopping or hunting the next cute bag. I also find your voice quiet calm which is also relaxing. Just a comment on the critique you received: I have to say, I don't see "unboxing" videos at all for your channel. Everybody on youtube is unboxing something (even cleaning materials :) or grocery hauls . . . ) so I don't think unboxing a luxury item on your channel is giving your channel more meaning. I do like your channel because you are very different to the rest of the consumer driven channels. I find you very unique. You gave me plenty of inspiration to downsize my collection and to reconsider some of my decisions as well as to reflect on my shopping behaviour. I really love your work, keep on going! Hello Eileen. I really enjoy this content. It's far more relatable and relevant to my lifestyle verses video after video of unboxings. I am just starting to put together a small luxury collection. I intend my collection to be small and practical, and last my lifetime.

I live a super boring life and I love it. I’ve always kept a small circle, I don’t go out much & social events do not excite me. That is a true luxury in itself. Being ok within yourself and in your own company. I absolutely connect with you in this way. Do not feel like you are somehow lacking because of this.

Boring???!!! I personally think that nobody can judge anyone’s life. I honestly think that your threshold for happiness is higher not lower. For someone to be able to enjoy life and be happy without artificially creating content and entertainment is amazing!!! You have to be feeling very secure with yourself and be content in life to do that. Shopping can become addicting and condition our brains to a certain level of dopamine that makes us want more and more and more. It’s like a drug and people are perishing for not understanding that neurological concept. Shopping addiction, like any other addiction, has the role of “solving a problem.” People don’t understand that. As a single mother of 2 grown up boys I spent my time reading, netflixing and running or hiking. And I cooked simple meals at home and buy groceries daily. Besides all these I have switched my career to be a full time nursing student to pursue my passion in healthcare :) my motto in life is just be happy and do what you think is good for yrself. Ever since I have been a nursing student I feel that life is too short and unpredictable just be yourself and no need to think about what others feel about you :)

I love drinking tea, walking, sitting in the car with snacks and ppl watch. Even when me and my ex dated, I preferred car dates or walk dates to dinner or etc.
I never liked going to parties, but that is because I have high anxiety around a lot of people. In my twenties, I probably went to the club like less than 10 times in my life. BUT I did love collecting a lot of designer handbags. In my thirties now, I love simple things. I still go to concerts maybe a few times a year before the pandemic. My husband and I still want to travel together in the future once this pandemic gets better. BUT, I still don’t like going to parties or big gatherings. I’ve always like working out like doing yoga. Going for a brisk walk in nature. I drive a Lexus but half the time I rather walk to the market and pick up groceries and put it in my backpack and walk home. My Lexus doesn’t get to many miles because of it lol! I love doing simple things like watching movies at home, reading a book and just spending time with my family and husband. My luxury collection has been steady, and I don’t buy as much as I used too. People don’t know how bless they are just by having simple things until life hits them hard sometime. The outdoors and physical realities in general (even down to pressing a real button on your tv or phone as opposed to touch screens) are now extremely underrated. Physical processes / craftsmanship / working with people and physical things are all things that I think should be (and will be) stressed by people in the future. People are tired of being overanalyzed and consumed by the digital world.
Don’t get me wrong, apparently if you sell all your luxury items you can live you simple life with pure air. You have a dream closet for many ppl that will never have a Chanel bag, you achieved the dreamed of many with your closet and now you started to be thankful for the small things and that’s great.

I'd much rather connect with people online than in person, honestly, and it's really hard for some people to understand that. Same here. I used to feel like I “should” be out more doing things I didn’t really enjoy. When you remove the word “should” from your vocabulary, you become your authentic self.
I too enjoy the simple things. My morning tea before work excites me more than the thought of an evening glass of whiskey. Growing up this is how my parents were so I guess I got it honest. I gave the social life a try when I turned 21 but by then I had already been set in my ways and couldn’t bring myself to enjoy it lol

Eileen you are a kindred spirit! During lockdown, I also didn’t miss socializing and in-store shopping. I love to solitary activities like reading, walking in nature, people watching, etc. I think being introverted can be mistaken for “boring”.
Recently I surprised myself about how simple my expectations and lifestyle have become. Ten years ago, I wouldn’t be caught in jeans that were not a contemporary designer label yet I was happy and completely satisfied purchasing a pair of $30 jeans from an outlet because they fit really well and were good quality.

As an introvert, I actually enjoyed the pandemic period naturally except for getting sick. Not feeling the pressure to attend social occasions that I really don’t enjoy was great. Enjoying my home and nature was wonderful. I think there are a lot of people like us who enjoy a simpler life.

I have really embraced being a homebody since being in lockdown and have let go of thinking you need travel, going to concerts and so forth to have an exciting life. Just sitting outside in the sunshine makes me happy. Reading a book. I’m more interested in crafts and kitchen stuff. If that’s boring to others that I can find contentment in the simple things that’s okay because it means I’m finding contentment in myself and at the end of the day, that is what we all truely search for. I think you’re really sweet and I like the reflective style of your videos. Keep up the good work! ❤️

This is how I read that "my life is not fulfilling enough, so it would make me much happier if I could watch you buy things you don't need so that I can be entertained"! I was so surprised, of course pleasantly, to hear your thoughts on your lifestyle. This is exactly what I think, I feel and I do. People think me boring too, but I call it being content with myself. Regarding your voice, it’s so soothing and calm. I find loud and supposedly exciting voices are in fact quite stressful. Even before the pandemic I could easily spend days on end just enjoying the simplicity of my life.
I’ve lived all over the country & have had quite the wild life! This time in my life is truly the most I’ve ever felt “at home” with my location & most importantly, with myself🙏🥰

I am sure that channels like this will become more and more popular. Endless unboxing videos are just overwhelming anxiety causing and inepropriate in tough times like we are living at the moment. When I want to make a purchase I may check out a review but that’s about it. It’s time to find joy in ordinary life rather than filling the void with material things.

You don't have to be like other youtubers, it's refreshing seeing something different and original content. We like you and your channel exactly for what it is!
I can totally relate to this!! My manager would ask me every week "what are you doing on the weekend" to create small talk and I would answer "I'm just going for walks, my life is not as interesting as yours, it's quite boring" and I realized after in fact it's not boring. It may sound that way to them but to me I find joy in the simple things in life.

I think you found the secret to heaven on earth. Good for you. I was much older than you ( around 42) when I realised “ boring “ was my preferred way of life. Travelling to me is not jumping around a million areas. It’s just walking around. Sitting in a cafe and watching the day go by.

You are so mindful & wise from what I see. My friends call me boring too but I am used to it. I am in my 30 don't drink, don't smoke, don't have bf, don't go to the clubbing (disco) like my friends/co-workers so to them it's boring. It's always best to be yourself, love yourself and enjoy the things you like which is true happiness Eileen.

I never comment, but now I have to say something. I absolutely enjoy your content, even the more talky videos like this. I feel we are likeminded in the way that I also realized that luxury goods are not a must-have for my life and there are plenty of other (greater) things in life than spending your hard earned money on luxury but rather using your time for your private life instead of shopping or hunting the next cute bag. I also find your voice quiet calm which is also relaxing.
Just a comment on the critique you received: I have to say, I don't see "unboxing" videos at all for your channel. Everybody on youtube is unboxing something (even cleaning materials :) or grocery hauls . . . ) so I don't think unboxing a luxury item on your channel is giving your channel more meaning. I do like your channel because you are very different to the rest of the consumer driven channels. I find you very unique. You gave me plenty of inspiration to downsize my collection and to reconsider some of my decisions as well as to reflect on my shopping behaviour. I really love your work, keep on going! The audience that likes you will stay.

I live a super boring life and I love it. I’ve always kept a small circle, I don’t go out much & social events do not excite me. That is a true luxury in itself. Being ok within yourself and in your own company. I absolutely connect with you in this way. Do not feel like you are somehow lacking because of this.

Boring???!!! I personally think that nobody can judge anyone’s life. I honestly think that your threshold for happiness is higher not lower. For someone to be able to enjoy life and be happy without artificially creating content and entertainment is amazing!!! You have to be feeling very secure with yourself and be content in life to do that. Shopping can become addicting and condition our brains to a certain level of dopamine that makes us want more and more and more. It’s like a drug and people are perishing for not understanding that neurological concept. Shopping addiction, like any other addiction, has the role of “solving a problem.” People don’t understand that. As a single mother of 2 grown up boys I spent my time reading, netflixing and running or hiking.
And I cooked simple meals at home and buy groceries daily. Besides all these I have switched my career to be a full time nursing student to pursue my passion in healthcare :) my motto in life is just be happy and do what you think is good for yrself. Ever since I have been a nursing student I feel that life is too short and unpredictable just be yourself and no need to think about what others feel about you :)

I love drinking tea, walking, sitting in the car with snacks and ppl watch. Even when me and my ex dated, I preferred car dates or walk dates to dinner or etc.
I never liked going to parties, but that is because I have high anxiety around a lot of people. In my twenties, I probably went to the club like less than 10 times in my life. BUT I did love collecting a lot of designer handbags.
In my thirties now, I love simple things. I still go to concerts maybe a few times a year before the pandemic. My husband and I still want to travel together in the future once this pandemic gets better. BUT, I still don’t like going to parties or big gatherings. I’ve always like working out like doing yoga. Going for a brisk walk in nature. I drive a Lexus but half the time I rather walk to the market and pick up groceries and put it in my backpack and walk home. My Lexus doesn’t get to many miles because of it lol! I love doing simple things like watching movies at home, reading a book and just spending time with my family and husband. My luxury collection has been steady, and I don’t buy as much as I used too.
People don’t know how bless they are just by having simple things until life hits them hard sometime.

The outdoors and physical realities in general (even down to pressing a real button on your tv or phone as opposed to touch screens) are now extremely underrated. Physical processes / craftsmanship / working with people and physical things are all things that I think should be (and will be) stressed by people in the future. People are tired of being overanalyzed and consumed by the digital world.

Don’t get me wrong, apparently if you sell all your luxury items you can live you simple life with pure air.
