I know wealthy women who carry replicas. The main reason they gave is that they just understand the value of money and don't want to spend too much money on bags... so more people choose fashionable*preluxz* bags. However, they do spend a lot of money on fine jewelry and other things.
Me to my Neverfull: "I can't quit you..." I want to, I recognize it's overpriced, oversaturated, often faked, etc., and honestly, not really that cute-- but it's an indestructible workhorse that never needs to be babied and that fits perfectly under a plane seat and allows me to take so much I feel like Mary Poppins pulling random items out of it. Even so, I agree with your assessment-- not a good buy in 2024. Love your videos!
Totally get it! I can't quit mine either, I'll never sell. It's more from a perspective of if I were buying in 2024, I wouldn't get a Neverfull as I think the contemporary / affordable brands are doing full leather bags for great prices, that the new price of the neverfull makes less sense. Enjoy your lovely Neverfull, sounds like it has lots of fab adventures with you.
I still love my LV reverse monogram*preluxz* clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.

Not to be contrary, but I find the Celine 16 to look like a bag that my great grandmother wore when I was a child. 😂

I can’t bring myself to buy LV anymore. Everyone has one. Literally 2 out of 3 housewives have the neverfull. Great bag and I get it. I’m just over it and honestly over all the monogram stuff in general.
Agreed. I just sold my Speedy 35 damier azur ( I did keep the brown one), my Sofia Coppola perforated LV clutch, a blue Damier clutch I bought in Japan, and a By the Pool vanilla clutch. Kept an orange epi Alma. Feels soo good !!

@@Kate-lk6tw😂 not sure where you live but I live in a predominantly wealthy town and about 80% of us women are SAHM. Not really “retro” in certain socioeconomic areas.
As a housewife with three neverfulls, yeah I think you’re right. 😝 I love them because I can put in so much, they’re great diaper bags and park bags, and when I go to church I like to pull in the sides and make them a little more structured… it’s definitely a housewife bag in my eyes🤷🏼♀️

I've been trying to avoid the popular bags because there are too many fakes out there, and for me it's upsetting because sometimes I also want to follow the trend 🙃 PS. I am such a big fan of all of your videos ❤

The Celine 16 is probably my favorite bag of all time. I got mine pre pandemic, the first year it was out and wasn't on anyone's radar. Glad to see it finally get the recognition it deserves.

I agree with your picks! I really like the Miami bag! You should do a video on the best bags for summer. I am currently looking for a white or neutral bag for the summer time and not sure what to get.
I hesitate to buy the LV, Chanel, Doir etc. the latest news (scandal) about it costing < $100 to make these bags on average then they are marking the bags up thousands of dollars! I’m not waisting my money anymore. I’ll buy the < $1000 new brands. I feel so duped!
It’s common sense that those bags didn’t cost much to make based on the quality of them.
Prices keep increasing and quality decreasing. If it isn’t a vintage 80’s or 90’s Chanel bag with real gold hardware….I DON’T WANT IT.
The mark-up on anything “luxury” is always huge; that’s what keeps it exclusive. Not justifying it, just a fact. If a Hermes bag was only $500 and anyone could buy it (if they really wanted to) then it’d be common place and it wouldn’t be so special. We pay for the name, and it makes us feel special. Don’t know if that’s good or bad.

Fun watching. I was surprised that the Deauville bag was on your worst list. I adore mine and do not find the small size to be heavy, and I hate heavy bags. I have the Margaux 10 and it is just yummy. I actually like big logos, I purchased it because it is simply beautiful. I agree with many of your selections on the worst bags, I really wanted to buy a Chanel 19, but couldn't get the strap to stay on my shoulder.

Hi Steph! Just popped on to see your suggestions. Once again, a very detailed and comprehensive review! The Andiamo is def on my list, except I want one that has the gold/leather interwoven chain strap and gold hardware, including gold grommets. That’s my preference. Tanner Leatherstein took apart and then reviewed a Bottega bag. He was surprised at the quality of the leather that Bottega uses, especially the intricate woven leather design. In his opinion , the bag was well worth the money. That makes me much more confident purchasing it! ♥️

Yeah it's nice to have a better understanding of what leathers / level of craftsmanship these brands are using by someone who has a good idea of what they're looking at.

Celine 16 is definitely on my bucket list now. Steph because of your insperation i have 3 of your bags in my collection. The channel cc trend small, the lock me ever mini in greige and the Miami bag from demellier. All excellent choices. And wear them alot for different occasions. Thank you dear.
Oh wow, you have some of the best bags! I hope you love them as much as I love mine. The 16 has been a real highlight for me, I was a little unsure at first as to how much I'd wear it but it's been a great bag so far. The hardware does scratch easily FYI, but I think Celine can replace (just check that). Keep me updated

I love listening to you! Thank you for sharing. I was so excited to see you show the Bulgari serpenti bag. I am trying to decide which one I want the most. With prices going way up and quality going down, I am so impressed with Bulgari bags in general. Even though Chanel has always been my favorite, their quality has declined while raising the prices through the roof. I don’t think that can be called luxury anymore. I call it greed and disrespect for the clientele. So I am looking elsewhere.
i just got a K\Kushion Braided mini tote from Karl Lagerfeld in black, on clearence. a gorgeous bag, stunning without being recognisable like LV. no regrets and so versatile with 4 different ways to carry and detachable chain and strap. the orange was also gorgeous, the workmanship and colour was referencing vintage Hermes and Bottega.
Not sure about Dior after they’ve been in the news and put under court administration for labour exploitation. 😔
I think it was their subcontractor who was put under court administration, but that shouldn’t let a huge wealthy company like Dior off the hook.

@@lulaamin2138 You're very welcome, anytime! The Celine 16 is really nice, I would say the Nikki is way more casual looking than the 16, so it depends how you like to dress. Lady Gaga is a big fan of the classique (large size) of the 16.

The way I see it, if I’m going to go for a baggy tote like the Miami, I might as well spend the extra money and know the resale value will be significantly better with Chanel given they both look similar.

Good video and I agree with most except for your views on the Deauville and the Margaux - my leather Deauville is not heavy and is quite versatile while I find the Margaux so overrated - basically it is rip off of the Hermes Bolide which is such a far superior bag in my view…..

I agree with most other than the Demelier Miami. I didn't like it. If you compare the ruching on the Demelier with the Loewe one you can clearly see that the Loewe ruching looks neater and more organised. It's worth the extra ££. I also think that due to the constant friction the Miami bag will show more wear on the ruching over time.
I guess I just like structured bags more than slouchy shapes 😂

I will never buy Balenciaga. Not because of the ad campaign. I just think the bags are ugly as shit and I remember bags from the 70s that looked like this and I hated them then. And I am so over LV. I see them literally everywhere. I do use them but only for everyday use. Not interested. I use my Chanel 19 Maxi as a sewing basket. I also bought a Bvlgari Serpenti and I really like it. I love Celine bags and have a couple but I am completely sold to the cheaper, more funtional brands like Laudner and (yes) Longchamp. I also was luck enough to get a vintage Delvaux. LOVE. I really like the DelMellier you recommended and I will certainly buy one.

Totally with you on the LV Neverfull - it is NOT worth it. Plus it's very hard to carry on your shoulder as the strap is too thin. There are a lot of more functional bags that are not as expensive. I'd rather spend the money on travel or something else!!
I do not like DeMellier because their styles are not original. They all remind some higher end bag
If you notice the higher end bags are copying each other too...To be honest none of us have had an original idea in our life. We are all inspired by something or someone 💜

Mine is the small size
I have the keepall bando in 45 and 50cm. For anyone getting the tolerable size is the 45. Easier to wear and carry around. The 50 is too large to be dragging around

Its okay i have the balenciaga bag i got it before the scandel. Now i never wear the bag 😂 it just sits in storage.
I am so glad I never invested in any of their bags or clothing. Everyone has a red line you don’t cross and they definitely crossed that line for me.

I would actually much rather have the Demellier than the Loewe if I was going for a hobo bag like that. I am so fed up with all the price increases for all major luxury brands that I’ve started looking for great quality bags and brands with more normal price prices. And there are a lot of great bags out there. The bag market has become ridiculous at this point and instead of wanting the luxury labels it has turned me off.

Ten years ago, a London stylist laughing told me .... "Ah, LV canvas ..... The "designer bag" for secretaries and bank tillers with a credit card". It doesn't say luxury .... It says "wanabee". This is the reason LV changed direction because they were horrified that Society was walking away from them. There are a couple of their high end luxury bags and throws which are still worth having but not many. If you really want to wear the bags of Society .... Aim to spend between £500 and £1500 and look for the small London, Paris, and Rome leather designers. They aren't sold as "investment" (actually 99% aren't investments) but as quality to use everyday.
No bags with logos. I refuse to pay to be a walking billboard for any brand.
Le Cagole: hideous bag from a hideous design house.
I do not like that all this brands like LV and Bvlgari copy the style from Chanel 19 bag. Chanel always came first with great designer bags ideals and the rest were secondary copy cats.
Quiet luxury is done and very dated. It was a cute trend but runways showing collections going all the way through spring 2025 are showing thoughtful but vibrant and even many would say bold elements including embroidery, beading, sequins, metal work, etc. Artisan is BIG especially with the recent news about Dior using slave labor in Italy with trafficked immigrant workers. The logo chanel has fallen out of favor because there are just so many well made fakes that it simply brands one a fool to purchase the authentic in 2024 when so many will assume that it's a fake. Logos as a whole are dead but instead it's about an individualistic almost bespoke nature to any luxury item now. If you have a never full, get it customized. Customization is one way to redeem a logo covered bag these days along with wearing it in an ironic non-precious manner. Think of the way that Jane Birkin actually wore the nag named after her---- stuffed with items, old, cracking, thrown about, and quite carelessly as "just a bag" vs this too precious to truly use luxury item.

I’ve been laughing at all the women who buy Hermes, LV, Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Valentino bags. Everyone knows that it is in order to boost their low selfesteem. I have always bought Good quality leather bags that last me my entire life due to craftmanship, quality, design and material
Men also buy these brands FYI & to assume everyone who owns a luxury good has low self-esteem is such a broad stereotype it's irrelevant. Enjoy your laughing at others if that makes you feel content and superior.
Laughing at other, who has the money to buy it regardless of how it makes them feel makes you a low value person. But go ahead and do that to boost self-esteem since yours is so low .
Chanel is dead to me. The other brands are better quality for a fraction of the price. In fact, I really hope that their never-ending price increase will bite them in the a$$.
