  • The Atlanta Braves got a well-pitched game and utilized some timely hitting to claim a 3-1 victory on Sunday and take the weekend series from the Oakland Athletics at Truist Park.
Grant McAuley and Jake Mastroianni of LockedOn Braves discuss the good work on the mound which began with a bounceback effort for Morton, the well-timed hits that proved to be just enough to help Atlanta avoid the disappointment of a third straight series loss, and preview the upcoming road trip which begins on Tuesday in Boston and Max Fried faces the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Thanks Jake and Grant for your insights and opinions. Good to finally win a series. Hopefully we can get going in June as we usually have in the past. GO BRAVES

Jake called a series W, so close to a sweep but alas a series win is sweet.

Charlie Morton as a number 4 guy with a 3.88 ERA, 3.94 FIP, 3.82 xFIP will play. Even at $20mil, his 0.8 to 0.9 fWAR after this game might be an $18 to $19mil player by the end of the season, so it might be a slight overpay, but not a big overpay for Morton should he fail to cross that 2.5 fWAR mark.

Yes this team is on a pace to strikeout some 740-750 times this season!

That would be by far the fewest strikeouts in MLB.

The Braves are right in the middle of the pack at a 23.1% strikeout rate, so they are they are pretty average in strikeout rate.

I feel like having patience at bat is best. The team don't know what to be. Be aggressive or have patience. Let the pitcher make mistakes and throw a lot more pitches. We really don't have a team leader.

They dont usually record on saturdays and sometimes not on sundays either depending on their schedules since its the weekend. It really depends on grants availability

No real mixed bag…they should have taken 4 out of the 7 atleast…this was another bad stretch which has been an all too common theme lately…

    4-6, L10 against teams under .500
    Incredibly underwhelming performance
