It's also a play off of King Kongs O² line, he talks about oxygen and then godzilla rebukes with Iron and Thor(ium), just a little kind of playoff of Kong which is just clever writing, the double and triple entendres in this battle is crazy!

Indeed it is; learning this was just as amazing as finding out that Dan Bull indeed did speak in a haiku when he declared that statement in his Dr. Eggman verse in Cam Steady’s Sonic Villains Cypher.
Loved the “My voice cuts deep like I’m rubbing on a double bass” line (Godzilla’s iconic roar was created by rubbing a leather glove coated in pine resin against a double bass.).
This is why I love RUclips comments. That line was good, but knowing the story behind it makes it slap.

edit: just noticed kong's "ass-brain" line. great reference to the heisei films. (in 1993 mechagodzilla took down godzilla by taking down a second brain he had in his hips. he had this because decades ago, stegosaurus (one of the dinosaurs godzilla was originally based on) was thought to have a second brain in it's hips because the brain in the skull was absolutely tiny).
The "here's your sign" part was underrated, there was no audio for that part while Kong says "just like your bad English captions" next

The 'Lizzie' part. Is a reference to the Rampage series. Where 'Godzilla' is actually a woman who can transform into the monster. I think they called the 'King Kong' character George in that series. A man that can transform into Kong. Later, they made a giant Werewolf character in the series too. His name was Ralph.
Aren't thet mutated animals? I saw the movie "Rampage" and Lizzie, Ralph and George were mutated animals, not people that could turn into monsters.

I’ve been following this series since Bieber Vs Beethoven back in 2011, Peter and Lloyd are iconic early RUclips legends and they always will be. My favorite thing about these videos is their ability to make me interested in character/real figures I knew little about or hardly cared about at all beforehand, via the magic of words and sick beats. Tons of fans have created their own inspired rap battle videos over the years, some have impressed me surely, but in my opinion there is no candle to be held against ERB’s heartfelt works of art. 88 down now, hope they make it to at least 100, regardless of when they hang up the mics for good, I’ve enjoyed nearly every lyrical spar they’ve given us.

I feel Dobby vs. Yoda would be a fun battle, they both have funky ears, magic powers, funny ways of speaking, and appearing the the second movie of their respective franchises.
As someone who owns, in the highest quality available, damn-near every movie referenced in this; I am both proud and ashamed at how many of the references I caught.
From that perspective, what was a bar that you know would be considered underrated only cause people would miss that very reference

Does it? I did not mind Cranston's character being dead at all since its a Godzilla movie and I watch it for Godzilla and not a single other thing other than perhaps what he is going to kickstomp. Literally every single actor can die in the first 10 minutes and the movie be NOTHING other than Godzilla getting to where he is going to fight is all that actually matters.
I mean, godzilla minus one just came out though, and it's one of the best and most profitable godzilla movies so, kind of an outdated bar.

It's a bar that can make you say "ouch", but not that great of a line to help you win a rap battle honestly since Bryan Cranston barely had anything to do with the movie that his character was completely forgotten after the next movie.
I start to feel ashamed of how many times I have rewatched this since it was posted by ERB, but then I watch it again and it's so damn good I realize I have no business being ashamed of how many times I have rewatched this!
I love ERBs stuff, but holy shit, this is their best one yet. I've replayed it a minimum of 40 times.

Godzilla win, for every one good Kong line, there was like 5 burns from Godzilla.
Someone on the ERB team must be a diehard kaiju fan because there were some deep cut references in those lyrics. Godzilla's line about rabbit fur? The Kong model used for the stop motion effects in the original 1933 film was coated in it.
Or how part of Godzilla's iconic cry was made by rubbing the strings of a double bass with a glove covered in pine resin.

They're not just throwing words together, they always do their research.
The ERB team generally has some very in depth commentary, I'm sure they do a ton of research.
The Pompei line from Godzilla is a reference to Rage across time, where he literally causes the event.
You can tell they had a lot of fun with the history of the characters.
This might've been obvious for most, but I got blinded by knowing about silver back gorillas at the silver back line, but he also obviously meant ''he won't get second place(silver)'', cause he's here for gold - 1st place. Seeing as they're only two opponents it fits even more.
Glad you are still at it! Love the costumes, but also love the classic low-tech impressions.

I can’t believe no one pointed out the double meaning behind the Donkey Kong joke, so I’m going to do it myself. So on top of Godzilla calling King Kong an ass, Nintendo literally made an ass of King Kong and Universal in 1983 because Universal lost a lawsuit with Nintendo over Donkey Kong, which actually ended up putting King Kong into the Public Domain. So not only is it a reference to how Donkey is another term for ass, but it’s also referencing how Universal lost a Lawsuit to Nintendo in 1983. Easily one of the coolest references I’ve seen in a rap battle to date. Actual peak!
Well King Kong being public domain is actually a bit shaky. Basically, before the 1933 movie, there was a novel written of the movie a year prior, 1932. That novel is now in public domain simply cause… no one bothered to renew it. So you can teeeeechnically use King Kong through the novel… but it’s still extremely risky and shaky
However, in 2029 it will get easier, cause then the 1933 movie will enter public domain too

When Donkey Kong first came out in the early 1980's, we all thought the Japanese creators had just made a mistake, and that they meant "Monkey Kong" without realizing that gorillas are not monkeys. Turns out it was likely more linguistically interesting than that. A theory is that they took "King Kong" to mean a "Kong" that is supreme, superior, foremost, prime, etc. So what's the opposite? A "Kong" that is a jerk, dunce, fool, idiot, imbecile, or... a jackass. Somehow the Japanese word equivalent to "jackass" was translated to "donkey" and the rest is history.

I love the use of the Heisei Godzilla design here. One of the more upright Godzilla incarnations outside of Showa, but damn is this the perfect menacing design that can fit in a mocap suit.

Although i see people saying in the comments how savage the “kaiju” line is but i honestly dont know what kaiju means nor do i get the reference, nor did i watch any of the pacific rim films, but still this battle is killer!

The Pacific Rim franchise is about humans piloting robots to fight Kaiju that specifically only exist in those movies.
The first Pacific Rim made a ridiculously large amount of money and was critically acclaimed by both general audiences and critics alike.
Pacific Rim 2 was as much of a major disappointment both financially and critically as the first one was successful.
so it's a line that hits like five different layers in one sentence.
