In my opinion, what really grabs you at first about Oppenheimer, is that he just feels so empty. The vintage style and the Bomb impact footage just feel so haunting, disses aside, what sold me on the character was his feel.
I totally agree, Nice Peter's acting took Oppenheimer from "a great rapper" to "best rapper they've ever done". His first verse makes me feel like Op feels obligated to defeat Thanos, not to defend his own honor. He doesn't defend his actions much, he mainly attacks Thanos - which really fits when you consider how he must have felt after the Manhattan Project. His only defense is the line "I do what I must" - very fitting.
Keep in mind in real life Oppenheimer and his team just created and witnessed a weapon they feared would completely burn the atmosphere and destroy the planet.
Somehow it makes Oppenheimer look waaaaaay more badass that he drifts through the battle looking psychologically crushed by the weight of guilt: and *still* delivers devastating disses.
What's worse that getting smoked in a rap battle? Getting smoked in a rap battle by someone who clearly doesn't want to be in one. This is my all.time favorite ERB for that alone, lol.

Oppenheimer won with his first couplet - "after your rap, I am become deaf," and then just keeps piling it on. On top of that, his delivery makes him the most chilling ERB character since Stalin.
That was exactly what i thought - Before this one, Stalin and Lenin were the most accurate, while Staling being the most chilling. BUT - all gone now. Oppenheimer is the new one to be crowned. I mean - that facial expressions, voice tone, speaking tempo, that empty, regretfull eyes full of inner confilcts. Truly masterful.
I thought Pennywise was really chilling too, but yeah, Opp has the edge, probably cus he's a real person and the reality of it makes it even more affecting.
I love how Oppenheimer described Thanos in the worst way possible, but struggles to talk about his own actions. It just shows how scarier truth is from fiction.
Nobody involved with the Manhattan Project had any pride or false belief that their work was heroic. They knew it was the tragic necessity of that war because if someone DIDN'T make them before Germany, Germany was going to and they really would've bombed the whole world.

This last phrase is one of most horrific phrases in the human history. It's the time when humanity realized the world destruction by humans is no longer a chance, it's a choice. Alright, this is the first time I'm seeing this one, but Peter's portrayal of Oppenheimer is incredible. From the thousand yard stare to the lo-fi sound they gave it, it's just perfect. One of the best ERBs for sure.
Thanos is also pretty ok with some decent bars. Oppenheimer is better I have to say. On my first time watching I really liked it. This is probably one of the best from season 6.
I don't disagree. The writing is amazing too. I went looking to see who it was even. It sounds like a lot of it would be Llyod mostly, but they are all so creative it's hard to tell. My favorite ones either have a good beat or good writing,and this has both.

It is so perfect that 2+3=5 so that works out, and it goes even further than that, 2 and 3 are about as close as you can get to halfing 5 without going into Decimals, as half of 5 is 2.5, meaning if you were to round, it'd be a 2 and a 3.

The imagery of nuclear bombs, explosions, destruction, and fallout hits WAY harder than the imagery around Thanos. That combined with his soulless voice over radio is just so chilling.

It's kind of a paradox like that. When one character has a way bigger reputation, there's usually a lot more material to diss them with, so in a way it's actually easier to wipe with those type of guys.
Thanos chose the wrong opponent to try and use roasts on. Oppenheimer is so deep in his own self-loathing that all Buttchin did was give him something to vent on.

According to a reply that ERB left on another comment they did in fact purposely use outdated sound equipment so all the static was made from that, they only used a default telephone effect on the voice to finish it
Very, very late fun fact, but when nukes drop microphones can only pick up static. It's sort of a unintentional easter egg that heightens the rap's effect for me as it's like every bar Oppenheimer drops is a nuke.
I couldn't agree more, couple of months ago I watched oppenheimers "I have become death" video multiple times, the look of being dead inside on that man was unbearably clear. My heart jumped as soon as I heard that voice perfectly recreated in this video as well as his eyes that pierce your soul. Simply perfect.

Or perhaps infamous. The bomb was going to be made regardless of the scientist leading the charge. Most people couldn't tell you many, if any, names of the scientists who worked on the Manhattan Project but Oppenheimer's name is. So in a way he was his own worst enemy as he talked himself into it for the fame. The hydrogen bomb being a great example of this. Oppenheimer opposing it and refusing to help make it didn't stop it from becoming a reality.

Oppenheimer won with his first couplet - "after your rap, I am become deaf," and then just keeps piling it on. On top of that, his delivery makes him the most chilling ERB character since Stalin.
That was exactly what i thought - Before this one, Stalin and Lenin were the most accurate, while Staling being the most chilling. BUT - all gone now. Oppenheimer is the new one to be crowned. I mean - that facial expressions, voice tone, speaking tempo, that empty, regretfull eyes full of inner confilcts. Truly masterful.
I thought Pennywise was really chilling too, but yeah, Opp has the edge, probably cus he's a real person and the reality of it makes it even more affecting.

I love how Oppenheimer described Thanos in the worst way possible, but struggles to talk about his own actions. It just shows how scarier truth is from fiction.
Nobody involved with the Manhattan Project had any pride or false belief that their work was heroic. They knew it was the tragic necessity of that war because if someone DIDN'T make them before Germany, Germany was going to and they really would've bombed the whole world.

The mushroom cloud and destruction, the atomic, toxic rain from the explosion, the broken voice from the realization of the death and destruction, the mushroom cloud in Oppenheimer's eyes in 1:37, the "Split 2 and 3 from 5" which is a pun on the "Uranium-235" and last but not least the phrase "I am become deaf". This last phrase is one of most horrific phrases in the human history. It's the time when humanity realized the world destruction by humans is no longer a chance, it's a choice. If the U.S., Russia and China decided today to fire all their nukes, tomorrow the planet wouldn't even exist.

Alright, this is the first time I'm seeing this one, but Peter's portrayal of Oppenheimer is incredible. From the thousand yard stare to the lo-fi sound they gave it, it's just perfect. One of the best ERBs for sure.

It is so perfect that 2+3=5 so that works out, and it goes even further than that, 2 and 3 are about as close as you can get to halfing 5 without going into Decimals, as half of 5 is 2.5, meaning if you were to round, it'd be a 2 and a 3.

It's kind of a paradox like that. When one character has a way bigger reputation, there's usually a lot more material to diss them with, so in a way it's actually easier to wipe with those type of guys.

The Oppenheimer performance is probably a reference to the his famous 'I am become death' quote and ther interview its taken from- the sound quality is similar
According to a reply that ERB left on another comment they did in fact purposely use outdated sound equipment so all the static was made from that, they only used a default telephone effect on the voice to finish it
Very, very late fun fact, but when nukes drop microphones can only pick up static. It's sort of a unintentional easter egg that heightens the rap's effect for me as it's like every bar Oppenheimer drops is a nuke.

@@pooperdooper3576 The kicker is though it was a mental battle for him. He knew for a fact that if he didn't do it someone else would and at that point he wouldn't have been nearly as famous. Or perhaps infamous. The bomb was going to be made regardless of the scientist leading the charge. Most people couldn't tell you many, if any, names of the scientists who worked on the Manhattan Project but Oppenheimer's name is. So in a way he was his own worst enemy as he talked himself into it for the fame.
The hydrogen bomb being a great example of this. Oppenheimer opposing it and refusing to help make it didn't stop it from becoming a reality.

Oppenheimer delivered the biggest stomp in ERB history. Most one sided battle ever. That radio effect on Oppenheimer's voice is definitely the cherry on top.

The main reason why this was one sided for me was because Thanos’ second verse was so dogshit. The first one was good.
Speaking of, Oppenheimer’s second verse was also worse than his first imo. Not because it was actually bad, but it just had a different vibe than his first that I didn’t like as much.
