"I've never heard of you" proceeds to rap about very specific parts of Mansa's history
Heck, he even rapped about his predecessor (Abubakari II) sailing the sea…
I guess Bez is a Puppet History fan, too
Then later says he's "overrated." Which is it, Jeff?
I mean, it wouldn't be a very interesting battle if one person just went "who the fuck even are you" over and over.
to be fair honesty is not something i associate with him.
"He aint a Bezos his real name is Jorgensen"
hits like
"This guy is a gansta? his real name is Clarence"
that's what he was referencing! he says so in his reaction to his own battle
"And Clarence's parents have a real good marriage." Not so much for Jeff, though.
Mansa real first name or Scru? Scru’s government name is Darren
Fax
i also caught that reference lmao thanks mista!
Mansa Musa saying "take one small step towards a different 'prophet'", with prophet being a homophone for "profit" completely flew over my head the first time I watched this. Scru is INSANE!
I only got that because the same wordplay was done in Bill Gates vs Steve Jobs.
Don't forget that "One small step" was taken from the excerpt of Neil Armstrong's moon landing clip, playing on Bezos' space exploration with Blue Origin.
Listen..... This whole damn thing was enjoyable af. To think this is my first ERB in yearsssss. I just decided to pull them up to see if they were still going. This vid did absolute justice and was the most ideal welcome back I could've ever imagined.
My jaw is on the floor.

@@adamthomas1222Why did you randomly bring up Key and Peele as a comparison? But anyway it’s fine rapping in your own accent, rather than then putting on an accent you’re not using to and doing it badly.

Bless the man. Also, not knocking ya, but the first part of your comment - "one of my favourite black people" - is HILARIOUS to me for whatever reason XDD
Do you know slavery is still legal in Mali?. He was likely not paying with gold but with salt, Mali has gold and salt mines. And I asume the reason why he was giving away so much "geld" (in german gold and money are the same word (EDIT:turns out it is not the same word)) was to cause inflation so when the subsequent deflation came people would sell/get rid of their workers and slaves, which is a normal thing during deflation, so Mansa Musa would buy them and sell them in other place for a higher value. Amazon pretty much does the same strategy with their low prices establishing monopolies.
@@miguelcarunchod.1493unfortunately it still exists in a lot of places including America but here we just call it prisons aka the prison industrial complex who makes people brought in for non violent crimes like drugs and have them make military equipment for the military industrial complex
@@ligma212 That's penitential labour, It also destroys the USA economy with their low prices. Slavery is a different thing because 80% percent of all known slavery is s** slavery.
@@miguelcarunchod.1493 While you're not wrong about the economic strategy, it's also part of the muslim religion to share your wealth during your trip to Mecca, and Musa was a very devout follower. It's possible that him crashing economies on his way to Mecca was just a legit accident. Mali at the time of his trip was the richest empire in Africa, and some argue Mansa Musa still is to this day the wealthiest man to have ever lived. We need a time machine and some truth serum to find out if he accidentallied those economies or if it was a slave investment
Even almost 2 years later, this is still one of the best ERB's of all time. The lines were straight up godly, with both sides dishing out roast after roast, but the instrumental is what really brings this battle to god-tier. I like how in Bezos's verses, you hear more techno sounds than Musa's instrumentals. Also, I love the occasional church bell sounds. Overall great battle.

It took me a year and the many re-watches to realize that "Lord of the Rings" didn't refer to the TV show but the security system, even with that musical queue. God, Amazon owns too much.
I was wondering what that was a reference to, i thought it was a sound effect from an old LOTR game.
But isn't it a double reference to the Ring doorbells and the Amazon Prime Tv series LOTR Rings of Power ? or was that before then
@@snowfox6795 I think the show was at least announced before the video so yes but it's a double entender, in the first layer is the security system because grammatically it doesn't really make sense as a boast otherwise. Like he's making LotR references and ending with a justification for bringing up the franchise in the first place. Otherwise it's just a non sequitur that doesn't go anywhere.
I'm convinced Mansa Musa found an actual genie and wished for infinite wealth.
I'd believe it, he was on a whole other level than even today's richest. He was estimated to have like double Elon Musk's networth (IDK if Musk still the richest today but I think he is)
@@iamacatperson7226 it is literally impossible hahaha
@@power_0007 or is it?
*Vsauce theme*
i mean, there wasn't really anything he had to wish for. the wealth of mali and therefore mansa musa came from the fact that they had some of the biggest gold mines in history and managed to build a massive trade empire in salt and gold through this. At mansa musas time, it is estimated that a third of all gold in circulation was of mali origin. And as gold was literally money then, he basically held a third of the economy of the then known and connected world in his hands.

Ok but the "Musa I'm Lyrically Lethal I'm Relentless African Verse Immune" part was actually super clever.
It's all capitalized because the first letter of each word spells out "milliravi" which was a term Bezos once used as a clap-back to people saying Amazon would go bankrupt back in 2003. He said it meant a miscalculation of a million dollars or more, and also titled Amazon's next quarterly report "Meaningful Innovation Leads, Launches, Inspires Relentless Amazon Visitor Improvements" to make it an acronym. From the wikipedia page regarding Musa's wealth: "Though some sources have estimated his wealth as equivalent to US$400 billion, his actual wealth is impossible to accurately calculate. Contemporary Arabic sources may have been trying to express that Musa had more gold than they thought possible, rather than trying to give an exact number. As for who won, Mansa Musa. He had consistently good disses, Bezos didn't.
maybe bring back the actress who played Julia Child for Margret Thatcher?
Well, Bismarck does have a plan.
Bismarck ALWAYS has a plan.
@@SorceressJacklyn Be so damned hilarious if they drop that reference in the lyrics - even if it's "wait for circumstances to present themselves to formulate an advantageous plan".
Fuck yes
There's so much material
“Your ship has sailed just like the guy before you” is an amazing line. The whole reason Mansa Musa became the emperor of Mali was because his predecessor went off exploring the Atlantic and never returned.
Jeff says he never heard his story yet he knows everything about him.
So his predecessor went to go get milk?
@@ET_FRB no.. he left to get cigarettes 👀
@@ET_FRB dude sailed the Atlantic just to get the best damn milk to ever exist
scru really went all out for this... please bring him back for more roles
Dude every fucking line in this was fire. I keep coming back month after month to binge it again. And soo deep too!
*In 70 years in history class*
Teacher: How did Jeff Bezos die?
Grandson: He was murdered by Mansa Musa.
in a rap battle 😂🤣
Cool profile picture.
Nah bezos destroyed musa here
@@xercuses5778 Respectfully disagree. Mansa Musa totally slayed. One of my favorite rappers on ERB. If I get a 5 on the APWH exam, I'm thanking this video as well as the Rasputin vs Stalin one.
@@alphabravoindia5267 Fair but i think bezos's firepower and i really liked the feel to his charater its what gave him the win to me
when bezos says “Musa Im Lyrically Lethal I’m Relentless African Verse Immune” all the first letters make the word Milliravi, a word Bezos invented meaning ‘a significant mathematical error of 1 million dollars or more’.
wow, that’s crazy
You KNOW they've been waiting for someone to notice that
I can't tell if that's next level nerd logic or just billionaires making up crap for the masses to horf.
Wha- how the hell did you spot that?

it’s a crime that this only has 8 million views this is one of my favorite ones ever
Scru’s first verse was great, but his second verse was incredible.
Musa chopped Bezos, but God damn, that Civ VI bar was ruthless.
@@TheLastMillennials LMAO
Could.you explain that bar?? I know it was meant to be a hard hitting bar but dunno what it means.
@@ashmazr3539 civ vi is a videogame, his character is not a top tier character in that game.

It's so fun reading up on the history of the characters
and then when you come back to all the disses it's like "OH"
"bro what was sick"
Ignaty Shadrin was here 😎😎😎
Bru love your reactions man
i literally learned so much from watching 2 figures rap it out, thanks erb. just to clarify, i didn't know anything related to the disses till i checked the wiki, the amount of genius in every diss and word makes my brain explode.
Love that you got Scru in with ya guys.
"Im hard corporate, top-tier in the forbes list ... you couldnt even hit top tier in Civ VI" X,D bro that caught me off guard so bad i did a spit take
Musa’s flow on this was was absolutely killer honestly

Damn. ERB's lyrics never disappoint. Absolutely surgical.
they really rhymed "cattle on" with "Catalan" and I'm here for it
The connection, in case people are wondering, Mansa Musa is often credited to be the richest man to ever live.
The richest man who ever lived is Prophet Solomon or Qarun and Qarun is not the Qur’an so as not to be merged ✅
@@mohamedexedell7973 Is there even proof they existed
