    Thanks for watching, this literally took over 20hr to make lol, probs not worth it. I will be trying to get more tutorial videos out. I am having to delay the tournament until I get the PC upgrade I need to record the battles.

    As a new player I would ask for an overview of what is wrong, then fixing. Speed montage of the actions is fine, but a more robust intro of what is faulty with the design, and how to avoid it and such.

      Thanks for the input, I'll make sure to do a overview before and after so people can see why I am doing stuff.

    Great vid! Slightly more attributes, like before/after top speeds, costs and weights, and maybe a half/quarter speed battle could all do a lot to showcase the "pimping" that you did. Also, giving a small summary of takeaways can help viewers build dope ships too. Love the vid, looking forward to the next ones!

    A more detailed Explanation would make it more usefull for knowing how to avoid making inefficiencies while designing the ships

  • @SmurfInHell
    @SmurfInHell Год назад

    A great series. Take the time to explain the inefficiencies by citing the problem then followed by possible solutions. You've done that several times in this video; with the incorporation of the pack presets for certain things like deck cannon rebuild. This a fantastic use and a great habit to get people into when building ships. Keep along that road and it will help a lot of people in the process of shipbuilding.
    Something I'd like to see more of explaining the thought process and "rules of thumb" for crew management. When I'm rebuilding ships for my friends most of the time they will have a functional ship design, but the crew management is what makes it seem so bad. So much time being lost to mismanagement of that major time resource is what ends up killing many large ship designs, especially over protracted fights when attempting to break through armor or having to re-break through shields between volley exchanges.
    Food for thought: When designing ships something to take into consideration is very common mods. I have a very separate design philosophy when building ships used for Optimal Storage / 10x Storage which is a very common mod people use. The Optimal/10x mods mean that ammo even for deck guns can be kept in a safe storage between several deck guns, but without needing the standard factory/sulfur storage connection as you are most often filling in between fights. During one of the pimp my ship episodes would be cool to see a design done with that kind of philosophy in mind because it could change some core mentalities for the shipbuilding, and be a great thing to explore / explain.
    Happy to support your content!

    I think ‘Pimp My Ship’ is such a great content creation concept! High community engagement, addresses the noob issues you might not even consider we’re having, and takes us all on a journey of improvement-then we get to watch the new version obliterate the old one…. Fantastic.
    I watched your part 2 first, and it was a little longer/more in depth. I enjoyed both episodes! IMO it would be great if you mostly did faster, more generalized pimping but had the occasional deep dive when you identify a ship that exemplifies common design flaws/opportunities.

    That is really going to be a good series. I know, It is suggested a lot, but a before/after of the two ships (Original VS the updated one by you), be it an exterior/interior view, top speed and weapon reload consistency would be great.

  • @50043211
    @50043211 Год назад +3

    If you are doing it for Career a price comparision in resources would be nice before and after. Also the reasoning for certain setups would also be good. For example, I know that you need a crew of 32, without the gunners for a Deck Canon to run non-stop until the ammo runs out of a 4x4. Which is ludicrious ineffective. With this amount of crew you can power a 24 part Railgun or 8 Ions.
    I dont know how it is for other people but its the ship building for me. It like playing with Lego. The game is nice and fine but its quite simple and the gameplay is the same and it does not change no matter the sector rating. Which is kind of sad but hey, maybe they will use the money from Steam to pimp their game too. :)

    • @thatonekmc
      @thatonekmc  Год назад

    Maybe you can make it into a ''I rate your ships'' type of series, where you look at ships from the community and playtest them / give advise (with excamples) on what can be improved, rather than recreating their entire ship which is way more time consuming for you.
    I love your content man, more of it please, Cosmoteer became my favourite game and you're the single best/most experienced player I've seen yet.

    Thanks for the video! I saw the result, the modified ship beat up the original, but I don't understand how or why. Also, how did the modified ship compare to the original in terms of materials and crew?

    • @thatonekmc
      @thatonekmc  Год назад +1

      They had around the same material and crew, I forgot to mention in the video but the point of the series is to change the design and not much to the weigh class.
      Main reasons the modified ship won was better shield regen, more powerful ions because it used 3 final prisms instead of two, the ion was able to fire straight, the deck cannons were constantly firing, the flak was stopping the opposing deck cannons, the rails kept firing, engines made it maneuver better.

    I did not learn much from this VOD. I rather would have seen building from almost scratch, with reasoning why do it this or that way, skipping repeatable parts. Maybe do this series about (prebuilt) sections, using submitted builds to show how to improve one. To avoid too much repetitions, then can skip parts explained in a previous VOD and just refer to the series.

Also explaining some of the descisions in detail (why multiple command rooms all over the ship and not one single bridge?) is something I would like to see in the future :)

    What's your thoughts on including an extra prism for aiming the ions? Keep the core protected and aimed straight forward, but add one more prism up front on free rotate? I like that the beam can aim instead of being restricted straight forward, but i keep seeing youtubers building fixed beams like this.

    • @thatonekmc
      @thatonekmc  Год назад +2

      The problem is that these prisms are vulnerable, and when they get destroyed they explode damaging stuff around it. But this does not mean that they won't get used. Sometimes it is nice to have one extended away from the ship to get first contact even if the enemy is flying to avoid you. The prism gets quickly destroyed and the ship reverts to being fixed. But it can be worth the cost. It can also be useful to target a small but nimble flanking ship at the start of a battle.
      If you use one make sure the main fixed prisms are not aimed at the turning prisms, and instead just aimed straight ahead. If you don't do this the fixed prisms will start turning and not getting out of the barrel one the aiming ones are destroyed.
