I mean that a nice tips but i would'n say your a pro to know basic stuff like that. ^^ I understand the tip with the attacker and the looter ship cause i do it my self but why the heck your ships must be that ugly like what? XDD How can you play a Game that give you that many tools for symmetrical building and just build Minecraft houses?? XD
Pro tip, you can attack and loot friendly ships with attack command, you get wanted level like in GTA, but it disappears after a time. Meaning at the start of the game, just destroy bases control room and bail, come back and take over. Wola, you now have a whole base full with resources.
What happens when youre in a wanted state? Like will they swarm you? Im planning to use this to hijack a ship for storing stuff but im afraid that if i do this i wont be able to buy ammo anymore. Ps.im still at risk 3-4 and short on resources to build Factor hence the hijacking
A tip for the PRO tipper, if you do "abandon ship" instead for transferring the crew back. The crew will join the nearest ship, and the remaining airlock and crew quarters will be considered derelict, and can be scavenged normally.
A pro tip missed: if you group utilities and you have more than one ship selected, calling a group will call all ship's corresponding group. This can be used at your advantage, but only if you have the habit of giving the same group number to the same utility across all ships. For example, if i want to power down all sensor of my fleet with two clicks, I just have to dedicate group 5 to the sensor on all ships, than with all ships selected call 5 and all the sensors are ready to be powered down. I usually keep weapons and shields on 1 so I can roleplay the "shields up, power to phaser banks" for all of my ships without having to manually scroll through each single one.
I just started playing cosmoteer and your videos have been so helpful for smoothing out the initial learning curve. If you’re up for challenging requests, it would be really great to watch you complete the first galaxy of a new game, especially if you could talk through what you’re doing and why.
In the case I showed yes, but when looting an entire station or the very late game ships no. I think the fastest would be to only have your crew pick up the rare stuff and use the large storages to pick up all the metal while your crew is working instead of pausing.
for the last piece of the ship, if u instead of transfer crew you click abadom the shipo the crew willbe back aswell but u can pick it it as a normal resource. :D
I appreciate the hint with the build of adjacent scrap but just pressing G and let my crew scrap everything is just easier. BUT you gave a friend of mine a good tip by reminding us that there is actually a diagonal mirror mode because he wants to play with a diagonal ship.
1:50 Ok, the tip to repair whole ships might be super useful. Basically you can either make a docking bay that generates smaller shipps as you like. Or you can go full carrier and fly your behemoth to the enemy just to engage the swarm. Only problem would be crew members if you throw them away.
So i have yet to understand why people think its best to build ships they want off of one of there current ships and separate them using the demo charge. My friend does the same thing, but you can just use the "build new ship" button and so long as you have the resources in a ship near by or in the space around you, you can build that ship where ever you want. Plus you dont need to spend the resource needed to build the demo chage in the first place making it just a tad bit cheeper too.
You can make some early money by buying a Ressource collector beam and gently pushing a random starbase insede the danger zone of a star. Or you push it towards a pirate base and get double the money.

Thanks for the great content, it helped a lot. Any change of getting the ship pack on a google drive link or something because the workshop thing isn't working for me.
Wow I didn't know that you could just make another ship from existing one, I am always looking for abandoned ships or from defeating enemy ships. And I am always having trouble of exploration since I'm always going for big ships. It seems all I need is just a spy ship.
TIL that you can CTRL-click tractor beams and have them individually target parts of a ship, and also switch them from 'maintain distance' to 'push' or 'pull' On a test ship with an array of four of them, I was able to spin an enemy to get to the juicy hindquarters and just blitz out the bridge, virtually without damaging the rest of the target... But they *eat* power.
None yet, but I suggest using point defense or having small pieces of armor out on structures to make them blow up further from your ship. Kinda like the RPG cage you see on a lot or IRL fighting vehicles.
@@jdshl8423 That's not the same as a missile cage. A missile cage looks like some makeshift grates held a foot away from the vehicle. Reactive armor is the brick looking things.
@@thatonekmc , oh. Yeah, I guess what I've been doing is a missile cage then. Layers of 2x1 armour connected by just 1 block of structure. Falls apart like debris all around the ship and has a chance of catching more missile hits. It's a good tactic, and keeps weight lowered overall as well.
@@thatonekmc Oh sorry, I went about it the wrong way.. I needed to go into the crew management settings and load roles from a ship, and then load your role ship's file.
Pretty sure you lose resources on the refunds, but eh, you are the pro. Who am I to say. 😅 Unless, you are saying that the player should use the opportunity to build actual useful parts of the ship, which is an okay advice. But it seems like you think that's some kind of a cheat/exploit that they are going to fix. They don't need to fix it, cuz there is still the refund mechanic in play. Edit: I don't know anymore. For me at least, I'm pretty sure there is. Probably a difficulty setting thing?
Why would you want to create new scout with repair button and use explosive every time to detach it? You can just load the ship from library in like 5 seconds, but you don't waste money and have ability to repair just your actual ship, lol.

Very useful, specially the ship cloning tip! thank you. I wonder walter will want to patch this as well, to make building ships a bit more special

Sometimes 8x is too slow, and sometimes you just play multiplayer.
In the late game you only loot high valuable itemd anyway.
great build-to-pick up trick, ty

The game used to not have the new ship button in career

awesome -..
Do you happen to know how much weight each engine can effectively accelerate, and how engines/weight effect top speed?
I legit think your "building" trick is slower then flying over it, clicking 8x, and letting me crew gather it all? at least to my stop watch

@@thatonekmc Thank you!!

great video! Is it possible to make a spinning ship? (eg. 4-way with railguns, where it rotates as it travels)
This was a very popular strategy in cosmoteer classic, so most likely: yes.
Yes it is, they are called rail spinners. You often see them with two rails too.
My ships list. Concept, Prototype, fighter, corvette, destroyer, frigate, crusier, heavy crusier, battleship, dreadnaught, titan ^^
Can make a ship via a top of screen menu now
What's the benefit of blowing a ship off the side of your main ship Vs just creating a separate ship?

If they are sitting next to a large reactor they only need two crew to keep full on power.
thx for the roles!!!!
When I load the ship from the workshop the whole crew is redshirts. Is there a trick?
Why use the explosive charge? Why not just make a new blueprint and paste a ship in there?
That used to not exist in career mode. Now the charge makes no sense
OH Thank you! I've been going crazy having to re-create the crew role-assignments for every ship I make! Now I know how to copy-paste-save-default! 😇
I think you need "i hate crew contruction" for to do all that
Any chance of including your warehouse ship in your pack?? :)
Yeah I'll add it, I was reluctant to because it isn't perfect.
Comment for the algorithm.

Complete all the high level missions, they can increase your fame by more.
