Thank you for putting this video together, it was really helpful. Haha, I was kind of going crazy over how much my storage wouldn’t stop filling up despite all the photos I deleted and after following along in your video I cleared a whole 7 GB from my systems data and have enough space to take care of sorting all my memories and photos. Thanks again! Huge help.
This really works a LOT better compared to these types of videos other content creators I have made. I must have had 3GB of Siri caches because now I have 20.1 GB of total storage used. No one else has said this
Very helpful video. My iPnone is going on 6 years old and it was limping along getting storage full messages often. Following several steps in the video, I was able to free up 25% of my overall storage. Thanks!

And often, cache is managed automatically by the OS. The whole purpose of cache is to store constantly used or displayed data (like images and other types of frequently rotating content) so that it won’t have to constantly re-fetch that data from its original source. It’s going to dump it and replace it with new content along the line and a multibillion dollar company like Apple is obviously going to have people smart enough to do this. The only time cache is really beneficial to clear is when a cache-leak happens, this is where a programs cache gets clogged because the system wasn’t smart enough to see the data as junk and delete it. But on most modern programs? You don’t really have to worry about it. Unfortunately, large system data is often the result of files outside of the users full control within the walled-garden, forcing a user to factory reset to really make a difference in this data.

This was terrifically helpful. I followed all the steps, except the Developer and Restore suggestions, and I successfully got my System Data from 5.6G to 17.9G.
My system data was almost 40GB and my iPhone started removing apps because the storage was full. I couldn't understand why after deleting nearly everything & updating it, until I saw the System Data. I couldn't clear it no matter what I tried, so I started Googling solutions with no real results and went searching on RUclips. This video brought my System Data down to 9.5GB! I have so much memory now. Seriously, THANK YOU for this video & the easy step-by-step way to locate and do everything on my own! You saved my iPhone!
My iOS 14.6 doesn't let me delete voices, there's an iCloud icon and the size, but zero clarity if the size taken on the phone or on the iCloud, swiping does nothing.
@Danny Reed Yeah that'll be it, but their video just assumed we all had all voices on our phones, you have to choose to download them in the first place! Maybe that's what the, 'I tried lots of voices' comment was about, still, not very clear.
Thank you. At 75 I feel like I’m starting school over from scratch. Now since I upgraded to the new 16.whatever, my battery went from lasting three days to lasting 24 hours. It dropped over 30% while I slept. Wish I would have never done the system upgrade???
Loved it all except for Enable Devel Mode...you really didn't explain how to get to that ...or so I thought. Or perhaps my IPhone 11 doesn't have it...wasn't sure where you went to access it. Thanks for all the other great tips! Great video.
Why not back up to a Mac or PC? I've owned an iPhone since the 3Gs and have NEVER backed up to iCloud, only my Mac. It's never been an issue. My current iPhone 15 backups only take up about 6.5GB on my Mac and that includes all of my texts with images and attachments going back 15 years to the aforementioned 3Gs from 2009. Every phone upgrade has been yet another restore from backup through the years. Of course I offload most pics when syncing, so I've never really felt cramped for storage even with the entry level128GB on the iPhone 15.
Everything was good and I was following every step… Until they told to open the multitasking interface and close apps. I then stopped and closed the video.
In tip 16 it is mentioned that iPhones use the system data to supplement the 6gb of ram. This is only true of certain models of iPad running iOS 16. All other devices have no “swap” or “page” file. They have a virtual memory manager but no page faults. If you run out of ram the phone is dead. To prevent this iOS notifies apps if they are using too much ram. If they don’t free up enough memory they will be ejected from memory leaving the app the user is running for last. If your app is running and you still don’t free up enough memory the operating system will crash the app while you are using it to prevent a system lock up. I have been developing iOS apps since before iOS 2.0 was released and have spent lots of time debugging crashes for this reason to the point I had to study how the iOS kernel is implemented. Prior to iOS 16 no devices had a page file and with 16 only iPad Pros with new apple silicon have support for a page file.
The most important thing these guys say as far as I’m concerned anyways, and this info is absolutely correct, essential to understand and hugely important!!!! Is an iCloud back up does NOT contain all that horrible system data that nobody needs or wants, it frees up tons of storage doing a full factory reset and using iCloud or ya Mac to restore from a backup!!!! That’s THE main / best way to create storage and it’s super easy to do. These guys are the only ones who actually make this point clear, coz as they said loads of other utubers have absolutely got it wrong and do not understand what iCloud backs up and doesn’t!!! So many people online make this specific issue over complex for god knows what reason or they just don’t have the correct info. Anyhoo these guys are right re this!!!!! I just did mine and it all worked beautifully and created TONS of storage!!! So happy..
Thanks for the tips and suggestions. I went from 18.6 to 17.5. Not bad, huh? I have a tip for you-when heading back to the main page of settings, press and hold, and scroll down with the same finger to settings. Instead of pressing multiple times, you just press, hold and release. CONGRATS!
Bro mine went to 28 gb this morning after i updated to iOS 17 DEVELOPER beta yesterday and my entire phone crashed, i tried rebooting it and it took like 20 min because it was boot looping, and then finally when it turned on, the screen wasnt responding at all, so it took a long time and then I remembered the method to force restart my iPhone and now it works but yeah my system data keeps going up so hopefully this will work💀👍 (Edit) it went up to 32 GB OMG but still works, and for anyone who has the same problem with this iOS update (iOS 17 Developer beta, NOT public beta, Developer beta), i think it helps to restart the phone when it starts going up a lot (for example 27 gb). It kinda works for me atleast.
anyone complaining about memory going up, restart your phone! Yes it may storage might increase following some of the instructions, up until you restart. My memory before I cleared the AppStore cache: 52.41GB. Memory after clearing AppStore cache: 53.27. Memory after clearing AppStore caches AND restart: 52.41GB.
I was really hopeful and followed all the steps (besides restoring). In the beginning I had 14 gb of system data and now I'm down to 8,9 gb. That's pretty good I'd say but should I maybe restore it? It's an iPhone 8 Plus (yes, I still love it and it works perfectly fine :) and I feel like with the older models it can sometimes be good to delete everything?
I started with 10.34gb and permanently deleted the deleted photos and videos which dropped me down to 2.06gb! Followed many of the other suggestions and it raised up to 7.45gb? I also cannot delete the voices like many others are saying (12 pro)
I went through this video and followed the recommendations three times since this video first dropped. My system data was at 202.49 gigs. I gave up and did the system restore. System data is at a manageable fluctuating 3.86- 4.87 gigs
The only one that makes a difference is clearing safari cache. Do it regularly. Messages as well but I wouldn’t do it. You may need that for evidence some day.
My system data was up to 40 GB 😅 and I didn’t want to reset my phone so what I did was offload frequently used apps that way I keep all my settings. I didn’t have a ton of pictures, videos, or files eating up storage but offloading a few of those frequently used apps reduced it down to 5gb of system data. Idk which app it was that was taking a lot of system data since I offloaded a bunch of apps, gave it 10 minutes then reinstalled those apps.
Love your show and learned a lot. But….i was doing what you stated and my RUclips on tv started doing Spanish caption writing instead of English. I don’t know why and I can’t figure out how to change it back to English. I have the CC on because I’m very hard of hearing.
Great tips thanks! I cleared out 8 gigs in just the first few steps. I notice the system data number at the bottom didn’t change much but along the color coded bar at the top it sure did.
i did all your instructions. helped a little. now I'ed like to delete messages on Messenger. Some go back years from one particular friend. How can I delete in mass?
I don’t know if this works but many of us are complaining about our system data going up after doing what you just said. I I dated my phone like you said and now it is up by 4gb what haaaaappppeeeennneeeeddduuuuhhhhh😅
I have deleted 30gb of data on my phone from photos, but photos app is still occupying 30gb space. Last month I had 113gb system data on phone, and had to do a factory reset, but it’s not possible to do a reset every other month.
What happen if the voices you guys claim to delete are in the cloud and not in your phone? In my phone its showing them with the cloud symbol... does that mean they aren't in my phone taking up space?
Can you guys do another more in-depth video on how to clear out all those installed voices we don't need? I'm sure my navigation app doesn't need Turkish and Indonesian voices to direct me up I-25.
Stumbled across a remedy that seems to be much easier, faster. I simply switched my SIM card from my SE to another active SIM card I had in my other device. Let the 2 devices assimilate. Then switched them back. The original sim back into my SE and what was 62 of 64 gigs used is now 17.5. Simple, far more simple then any remedy I have seen. Kinda blows every other remedy out
I have a 14 promax, and it doesn’t allow me to slide left and delete the voices I don’t use. Any workaround? Thanks so much for all this great information!💜
If you don’t use them then you never downloaded them. So you can’t delete something that wasn’t on yre phone in the first place. So it won’t be taking space up on yre phone. This only matters if you already downloaded them all or some
This method frees up 113GB of system data and make my iphone 15 pro max feels like an aeroplane butter smooth experience after doing it. And ill always clear history and closs tab to keep up the performance.
Actually, if you go to settings, then to general time and date, turn off automatic time and date, set your phone back three years, go back to your home screen turn off your phone, reboot your phone go back to settings into general to time and date. Turn on automatic time and date again go back to iPhone storage you will see you will clear out some of your system data. It’s a neat little trick. I’ve tried it on my iPhone 11 and I am running iOS 17.1 and it works doesn’t get rid of all of it, but it does eliminate, some of it
I would love to know what “iCloud data” is on my iPad. I spent a long time on the phone with Apple, trying to find out how to reduce the size of iCloud data. From the tone of the conversation, they really did not want to explain to me what it was, and would not tell me how to reduce. I have an iPad Pro with 256K and iCloud data is taking up 9.6 GB.
How much storage space is “System Data” taking up on your iPhone? Don't forget to share this video with your friends!
12.57gb💀
4.94 gb
15gb, I'm Jailbroken :|
6.14 gb
It was 17GB until I went thru 16 steps. Now at 7GB. Thanks
Thanks, never really thought about it that much! Went from 10.41GB to 6.05GB
I followed your first five steps and my system data INCREASED 2.5 GB. So thanks. :)
same😂
Same
Same lol
I also noticed that permanently deleting videos and photos from the recently deleted tab in gallery can clear a lot of space from system data
HEIC files are larger than what you think, hence the great relief of storage after deleting some.
THANK YOU FOR THIS INFO, THIS HELPED ME WITH SO MUCH STORAGE, I NEVER KNEW THERE WAS A RECENT DELETED PHOTO
Omg tq. I just deleted it and now my storage went from 120gb to 60gb

This is hilarious… I did almost everything you said, & my system data went from 15 to 17 gbs lol.
Lol
Mine went from 11 to 12 😂
Mine went from 1 to 2.22 gb 😭
It’s at 8.65 gb now 💀
Literally a day before the unedited comment
Mine went from 13GB to 27GB
Mine went from 18 to 21
This is the only video that has actually helped me. Following this video I cleared 80gb of space. Updating my ipad is what ended up helping. Thank you
I have an SE2. For some reason, after accomplishing most of these changes, my system data doubled to 8.59 GB!
Mine too

@@soyamchhetr 😮Why?? What happened??
Mine to 4 to 6 sueing them 😭 its still raising
Mine went to 5gb to 21gb what😭🤚
I started with 10.34gb and permanently deleted the deleted photos and videos which dropped me down to 2.06gb! Followed many of the other suggestions and it raised up to 7.45gb? I also cannot delete the voices like many others are saying (12 pro)
so basically just don't use your phone... :D
:D :D :D
I just went from 72 to 24.5, thankyou!
Thanks you so much
I went through this video and followed the recommendations three times since this video first dropped. My system data was at 202.49 gigs. I gave up and did the system restore. System data is at a manageable fluctuating 3.86- 4.87 gigs
Lol, my storage numbers went up when I tried to delete voices. Which it would not let me. Started with 7.26 gig and afterwards now 8.1 gig.😢
lmao same
That's because apple is playing you . Android we don't have this problem. Apple when you delete thing it adds it to other system storage
That apple cache helps somewhat. I was at 21.72 and followed the app store cache and got 21.38
Thank you!! Only did the first 5 and went from 50.2 GB out of 64 to 39.7 GB!!
50?? and I thought my 30 was bad..
@@tessacalzone yeah lol before that it was at 63
The only one that makes a difference is clearing safari cache. Do it regularly. Messages as well but I wouldn’t do it. You may need that for evidence some day.
YOOOO THIS HELPED SO MUCH TYYYYYY!
I did all the steps you mentioned and it increased the storage by 1gb
Tnx for this great video
I followed a few tips and it started at 8.50 then jumped to 14.6😮
You guys are fantastic and with such clear presentation too.
Love your show and learned a lot. But….i was doing what you stated and my RUclips on tv started doing Spanish caption writing instead of English. I don’t know why and I can’t figure out how to change it back to English. I have the CC on because I’m very hard of hearing.
Love you guys that was so helpful went from 20.52gb to 2.99gb
Killing app? I’ve head that it is not interesting as it has bad effect on battery as the app has to start again…
Very good video…
What about MacOS?
i like my history. i forget things the phone remembers.

Question. How to get rid of unused iCloud photos , emails, etc taking up space and causing my iCloud usage bill to keep going up, using my cell phone?
Great tips thanks! I cleared out 8 gigs in just the first few steps. I notice the system data number at the bottom didn’t change much but along the color coded bar at the top it sure did.
i did all your instructions. helped a little. now I'ed like to delete messages on Messenger. Some go back years from one particular friend. How can I delete in mass?
Everything worked great except the Xcode part. I tried to do it from my DELL laptop and it didn’t work.
My phone seems to react faster, thanks! 😎
Thanks for this! was so annoyed and alsmot had to reset my ipad. My system data was at 37.4gb and after clearing safari data, it went down to 4.71
WHY IS IT GETTING HIGHER 😭😭😭
Hi! If my Mail app is already offloaded, would the mail attachments still be taking up space? Thanks!
So I am finding out that a lot of this does not apply to me being an iPhone 8+ user. I don't have most of these features.
Same, I got stuck with half, but hey! half is half and better than nothing :D
I have iPhone 8 his do I know if it’s plus or not?
I don’t know if this works but many of us are complaining about our system data going up after doing what you just said. I I dated my phone like you said and now it is up by 4gb what haaaaappppeeeennneeeeddduuuuhhhhh😅
This is so great, important and helpful.🎉Thank you so much for your work, guys.😊
Thank you so much. That’s so helpful.
I have deleted 30gb of data on my phone from photos, but photos app is still occupying 30gb space.
Last month I had 113gb system data on phone, and had to do a factory reset, but it’s not possible to do a reset every other month.
Reinstall iOS using iTunes on computer
When you say you use Chrome sometimes because you dont want to pay $9.99 for a suscription, what do you mean?
Bruh I went from 24.79GB to 25.19GB 💀💀💀
What happen if the voices you guys claim to delete are in the cloud and not in your phone? In my phone its showing them with the cloud symbol... does that mean they aren't in my phone taking up space?
What’s a number that’s okay for system data? Mines 12.23. I feel like that’s a good number to be at.
I’ve 20 😭
Same to me 12gb didn’t think of went into developer mode cuz i that has to do with installing beta software into our phone which i am not ok with 😂
Mine over 100 gigs on my ipad
@@User-le1hs bro i got 31 💀
Is there a way to delete a group of attachments or do I have to delete one at a time? Great channels👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks!
Thanks for the Super Thanks!!
It's worked ❤❤ bro
You can long press and select settings..😂 I think apple should revamp the settings app..it’s all over the place now..
This didnt help at all. I didnt even lose a GB of storage.
Same, in fact I ended up loosing more storage 💀
Same
Y'all did something way wrong then
What if you no longer have a laptop or desktop? How do we do backups or flash drives? I apologize if that sounds silly. 😅
do NOT listen to these people past step 1, everything but that step made mr storage go up
U messed up
Hack #1: dont buy eye phone
Can you guys do another more in-depth video on how to clear out all those installed voices we don't need? I'm sure my navigation app doesn't need Turkish and Indonesian voices to direct me up I-25.
Have a question. I pay for iCloud storage as I use 38 g. If I stop paying, what do I lose out of storage first.
Geez, Thankyou so much. Mine went from almost 75GB to 10GB :)
Please show us how to clear the system data on a Mac! Would love to see a video on that.
Kinda blows every other remedy out
Thanks bros…I just only cleared my safari data and it was using it 49.8GB before and after clearing it was remain to 10.9GB 😮
