    I have recently released new video about cleaning the Mac in 2023 ➡ (ruclips.net/video/bC_MvCO8VLo/видео.html), but if you don't want to bother with it manually, check out the iBoysoft MagicMenu which you can use to completely uninstall unwanted applications and you will find there a lot more other features worth trying ➡bit.ly/41sd9W3

    • @OneByteAcademyOfficial
      @OneByteAcademyOfficial  Год назад +1

      It’s actually very simple. Mac is using free storage to cache files in order to make them easily accessible👨🏼‍💻 And Ram memory is also offloading some data to a storage, it’s called ,,Swap” I am just working on the video explaining this I will let you know when it’s shared. But in general don’t worry about it. It’s taking the storage only temporarily. If you restart the computer it will be automatically freed again 👍

    • @OneByteAcademyOfficial
      @OneByteAcademyOfficial  Год назад +1

      @@jeannguyen3199 there is nothing to worry about especially if it’s such a small amount like 1 GB. The Mac can take 20 GB in order to run smoother. There are many processes running on the background. If you start running out of space Mac will free up this storage, but until you really need it, Mac will be using this free space 👍

    Do I have to be careful with what files I delete from the library folder because I am suppressing the urge to delete everything for storage because I don’t understand what any of my files mean, so I don’t know what I need to keep and what I don’t. Also will anything happen to my apps if I delete something from the library folder?

    • @OneByteAcademyOfficial
      @OneByteAcademyOfficial  2 года назад

      You have to be very careful with the Library folder. You should not delete anything from there what you don’t know, cause most of it is related to system itself. I have few videos on the channel regarding this topic. I would recommend you to watch it and follow the steps. It might help you save some storage.

      Hello, I am happy you like the video. There is no others folder on the Mac. @@tttiffa I’m currently using beta version of macOS Ventura and it seems to be fine there, it shows system usage around 24GB. So hopefully it will be fixed for everyone after the official release 👍

      Hello, the right number is the one from system settings. You can't just right click the applications folder to find out how much storage the applications are taking, because a lot of these applications has data stored in system library or in other users profile 👍👨🏼‍💻

    how do i expand the system partition? i'm running a VM with catalina and my image is 32 gigs which wasn't enough for xcode. i shut the vm down, expanded the image to 64gb with qemu-img resize, restarted the VM and i can't figure out how their partitioning utility works or what the bar graph actually means. lsblk, fdisk and mkfs aren't commands on macos either so i have no clue what's happening apart from the fact i'm now stuc with a 32gb partition.

    I have a problem when im trying to fix the storage of my mac, i go to the volume folders (applications, library, system, user) and they add up to 90 gb out of 121 of storage used, but when i go to about this mac it says that i've used 110 gb out of 121 and i only have 10 gb left, how do i solve this?

    • @OneByteAcademyOfficial
      @OneByteAcademyOfficial  2 года назад

      Well the problem is that you can’t really count each folder separately 📁 they will not add up together the storage what is actually used. I’m afraid you really have only 10gb left, so you should review your files and delete what you don’t need and archive other files on external storage.

    • @arsenalz4400
      @arsenalz4400 2 года назад

      @@OneByteAcademyOfficial yeah, u can actually count and add them up, it takes a while, I checked using cmd+I and wait the data to load, it takes a while like 1 or 2mjnutes to appear the storage used by that folder

    • @OneByteAcademyOfficial
      @OneByteAcademyOfficial  2 года назад

      @@arsenalz4400 Yes of course you can show the folder info. The point is that you can’t find all the folders to count them together, there are hidden files or even folders which you can’t calculate manually. But the system knows about it. That is the difference between your calculations and the real taken storage.
