------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So I recently bought the Magene P325CS, this is a dual sided crank based power meter that is sold here in China. I believe it's the cheapest dual sided available today. It's also available in other countries through Aliexpress. This is my first impressions review and unboxing.

Sadly the data like left right balance and pedal smoothness need to be purchased additionally via the app. This was not mentioned anywhere on the website and I was quite disappointed when I found that out. Also it is not compatible with SRAM 12x so I had so sell mine after I upgraded the drivetrain. Otherwise it’s a decent product for the price.
That’s odd, once I connected it to my garmin I got left right pedal balance without having to pay anything extra. I’ll ask magene about it and see what they have to say. Thanks for pointing this out
I was an early backer of the Magene P325CS and I also own about a dozen other power meters. Unfortunately the P325CS is pretty much junk. It reports garbage values at high torque, especially if your pedal stroke introduces non-rotational forces. The included chainrings also have mediocre shifting performance and are placed too close together. The latter problem means your chain will hit the big ring while using the small ring and any of the smallest three cogs.
You get what you pay for in this case.
I read there were some problems with the cadence being off on the earlier units. I'm hoping they've fixed it by now, my wallet can't handle buying another power meter 😂
@@JMower They haven't fixed it.
@@kidsafe That's not what I needed to hear. Thanks for pointing it out thought, I'll mention it in the full review 👍
Nice I have asked Luke from trace velo if he would do a review of Chinese power meters. 😁
That's cool! I saw a review from GPlama, but that was from last year and Magene say they've improved the powermeter since then. It would be good to see another review from someone who has the resources to test it against the expensive ones. (unfortunately, my budget is very minimal 😂)
loving the sports direct mug !!!
Did you make any attempt to calibrate them and test them against your smart trainer? One of the common issues with budget power meters is accuracy, so I would be interested to see a comparison. Take a look at GP Llama and some of the tools he uses to compare against a "control" when doing Power Meter reviews to get a sense of what the community is looking for!
Nice review. Thanks
hi mate sorry i haven't caught any of your videos they havent been coming up on my subs page. weird. anyway keep it up mate
Shout out to the sport direct mug
Hey guys, so the website says it's only compatible with 10/11 speed front derailleurs, however I installed it one my Trek Domane AL 3 disc, which is Shimano Sora (9 speed) and had no issues so far.
Let me know what you want to see in the full review!
I've just finished my 6 week training plan, so there'll be a video on that coming very soon!
Thanks for watching!
Surely it wouldn't matter what size the rear cassette is, it's only whether the crank fits the bottom bracket that matters ? I will be waiting for your review, might fit one to my Sora.
@@Mike_in_Thailand The compatibility has to do with the different chain widths. While the inner width is the same amongst them all the outer gets narrower, this can affect shifting on the front derailleur and how the chain hits the ramps on the chainring. So it will always "work" but it may not work optimally.
Price starts from $380 + duty in EU
Is it a 24mm or 30mm spindle(axle)? This is important for proper bottom bracket and/or frame.. (Since you are replacing a Shimano crank I assume it is a 24mm crank?)
I assume 24 because it's Schimano
Yep 24mm spindle!
Good hill that for reps
I have been using the same. I have a shoe rub problem with this crank, Its too narrow. Also my right side PM failed to report properly so i had to send it back to china for repair. Hope the fix the problem and send it back.
So the inner part of the shoe rubs against the crank? That seems quite strange, I'll check mine and see if I have the same problem.
That's annoying having to send it back, especially for something so expensive. Hope they get it sorted!
@@JMower yeah hopefully they sort it out!! my shoes are EU 46 wide. So that could be a problem
From what app you get the data overlays?
It's an app called telemetry overlay, but you have to pay for it. Garmin VIRB is another app that does the same but is free.
support and claimed calibration accuracy range is an issue for me
is this compatible with shimano 12 speed?
The website says only 10/11 speed. But I'm using it on a 9 speed with no problems. I don't see why it won't work, as it's just the front crank and it shouldn't affect the rear derailleur.
still use this power meter? i returned it as ther shifting from small to big was really horrible
Still using it, was actually planning on making a '6 months later' video. How was the return process? Did they give you any hassle?
have you tried magene p505 powermeter?
Sorry pal, never tried that one
So how is it long term?
Overall not bad - big power spikes is the main problem, alright considering the price...
