    Would you use this power meter??

    I am in the UK and bought one. It's pretty good gives a similar perceived power as my Trax flux 2. I like the left right feature as I have an imbalance so can work on my weak side.

    Favero Assioma Duo are my goto for power. Its nice to have on longer rides, just to check in on yourself that you are not overdoing it too early.
    Love my data, so detailed and accurate is key. Plus its nice to be able to quickly swap pedals.
    The Magene do seem to be pretty well rated though.

      I'll definitely be buying a proper brand once I return to England. But for now I'll stick with this one until the batteries go bad. I was eyeing up the faveros, once I get another bike it'll definitely be nicer to be able to just swap the pedals rather than having to buy many power meters

    I was part of the kickstarter when this power meter crankset came out. Got it at a pretty good deal of around $220 or so. You pretty much covered all the experiences I've noticed as well. Sometimes I'd see that spike for like 1400 watts or something I know I couldn't have done. All in all, it was a decently constructed crankset, felt super stiff, only had a few gripes such as the short charging cable. Too bad the batteries eventually crapped out and couldn't hold a charge anymore :/. I also own a dual sided 4iiii power meter on one bike and a stages left sided on the other, can't go wrong with either or, but I'm glad magene was able to produce these at a decent price point! Great vid bro.

      How long did it last before the battery went bad? I'll probably end up using it until it goes bad too. No point spending anymore money until then. For the price it's decent, maybe it'll force the other brands to offer some cheaper options

    Sweet review thanks for all these valuable info! Have you had issues when changing from the bigger to the smaller plate between the crankset and the front derailleur?

    For those interested in EU region - There are those companies like inpeak or stages good quality and price. I myself just bought a bike with giant power meter pre installed, but haven't ridden outside yet :)

    I use Xcadey left crank PM (another china PM).
    Indeed i think its reading my power lower, im doing 36kmh ave for 20km at around 200w solo in a duathlon race and not drafting. I dont think its correct but its consistent/stable. But i dont have reference of other pm.
    I also get high spikes, but im not a sprinter, so i dont really use that data.
    for the money, its useful for me so i dont over do(stay close to power that i trained) and suffer in my run segment

    • @JMower
      @JMower  Год назад +1

      Interesting, yeah 200w at 36kmh seems a bit low, but with a slight tailwind it could be possible. I agree definitely worth it for the money, as long as the numbers are consistent then it should be alright. Who knows when you upgrade to a new one maybe you’ll get a few free watts 😂

    I am wondering about battery replacement after 10+ years intensively used. Do you need to replace the whole units or just send to the service center and get some charge. What do you reck on as a user?

    • @JMower
      @JMower  Год назад +2

      I don't think the battery can be replaced. I don't think it will last 10 years, the teeth on the crankset will definitely start to wear out much before then. I think for such a cheap power meter you will be lucky to get 3+ years from it.

    As long as it is constantly inaccurate it shouldn't matter much from what I have been told by a PT and if it is near the true power it should be ok.

    • @JMower
      @JMower  Год назад +1

      Yeah I think it should be alright. The garmin’s estimated ftp is within a few watts of what I got from Zwift so I think they’re close enough to not need to worry

      To be honest when I've been out riding with some local guys most of them seem to have foreign brands. I've seen a lot of Trek and Giant, and a surprising amount of Pinarello. It seems here that road cycling is an upper class sport, a lot of older guys on very expensive bikes it seems.

    Its a very terrible powermeter. the power numbers are unreliable it give me ridiculous numbers that i only dream of. I received mine and the other side battery was literally dead so it become a single sided powermeter
    when it rains its even worse it goes to zero most of the time.
    Sometimes it says am doing 350watts which i can never achieve for 10mins.
    Never buy that thing its ridiculously unreliable

  • @ChrisP978
    @ChrisP978 Год назад

    Even Shimano can't get a dual sided crank power meter right (at over $1000). Bad data is worse than no data. Generally the left single sided power meters are pretty accurate, Stages, 4iiii etc. Dual sided is just extra cost and drama and unnecessary for most of us.

    • @JMower
      @JMower  Год назад +1

      Yeah I saw dcrainmaker talking about the Shimano one, shocking really. I'll probably end up getting a power meter from a normal brand once I return to England. Yeah I've never once used the features of the dual sided one, bit of a waste of money i think
