The best Zwift video ever.
Thanks!! I really appreciate it!
super well made video
Thanks!! I really appreciate it!
the evolution of your videos since you started the journey is incredible. keep it up mate
Thanks!! I really appreciate it!
quality watch! we were both chillin at the back as much as possible haha. im the one on the pink with the afro.
Dude, good result. This video was so outside your normal format with the dramatic music, good watch. I just joined a team for the last 2 races and holy crap is this a hard series. Absolutely got crushed on that last race.
Yeah the last 2 races were brutal, the courses for the next round have been released and don't seem quite as hard
one of the best Zwift Video I have ever seen in terms of quality, nice work👍
How tall are you
185cm
Top result 👍🏻always pleased to see riders push their limits. I've not rode zwift since the covid lockdowns (PTSD 🤣) but the new league format may just tempt me over winter. Keep pushing !
You should definitely give it a go! The zwift racing league is seriously fun!
@@JMower Pref real roads and nature... but when -25 hits then its indoor trainer time :)
Great vid!!! Me and the SikhCC team were in it with u guys… unfortunately not a great overall result but I had some good races with you on the sprints!
Cheers for the good competition! It was good racing with you too!
Great all around video...ZRL information with real world experience and the appropriate background music for the drama. Should make ZwiftInsider's top 5 videos.
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it!
Wanted to get into zwift racing but this seems stressful and scary 😂😂
The scariest part is finding a team to race with, but once that's all sorted it's so much fun!
Glad to be in the team, so great to watch this recap and your feedback 🙌 cheers mate
Thanks Hugo, some huge performances from you, especially the london ttt!
Great recap :-)
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent summary. Looking forward to see how your next racing season goes.
Cheers! Next season will be against some tougher teams, so perhaps we wont be fighting for the win!
Very informative video!
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it!
You are good at cycling🎉
Thanks!
Fun story and congrats!
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it!
Good effort 👍🏻digging deep at the end!
Cheers! Yep left it all out there for sure!
Cracking effort Jarrod :-) great result for you (and your team) really seemed to suit you this course. For me too quick and hard to set into rhythym i got well and trully ghosted from 9km dropping off, just couldnt keep the pace.
Yeah I really liked this route actually, none of the climbs were long enough for the proper climbers to get away!
Well ridden, mate!
That was a really good race!! You looked strong up that last climb! Congrats on the 7th place finish!!
Cheers! Yeah it was my best result in the ZRL so far!
I just got the scott mtb heater goretex boots. Gamechanger…
Congrats on your progress! Here things have plateaued and reverses lately due to a lot of travelling for work and a busy thanksgiving weekend. (Down from 84kg to 79kg and back up to 81 after this weekend) But one big progress has been to be mindful of this and not stuff my face without limit. Another part of my journey right now is body exhaustion. I wanted to share as I’m sure I’m not alone and heard this too this morning from an athlete interviewed on a podcast about end of season body exhaustion. The year has been busy with work, training, family and l kids and I reach the point after two week of travelling and intense workload and my last gravel race 85kms 1,800m of elevation where I felt chronically tired. (I wanted to forfeit it but did it anyway…). Everyday. So I took a week off training after the race to sleep more. Didn’t feel like I was getting better. Only ride the bike again yesterday as a zone 2 ride and felt like I was out of shape for the first hour then really felt good after that. I will probably need more rest to recover and more low intensity rides. That’s it wanted to share my up and down to make those in the same spot feel better about it
Good luck Jarrod, looks like a tough challenge. Concentrate on them long rides and you'll be fine. Maybe try some Audax rides as extra motivation with such a long build up time.
Congrats on your progress, keep on it! I’ve had a bit of a plateau week again, stuck at 96.5kg from a starting point of 100kg. The Dragon Ride will be brutal. I did a few 100 milers when I lived in Cardiff but would never sign up for the Dragon Ride. Too tough for me. I’d suggest getting across to South Wales and doing some of the climbs in the DR individually. This will give you a taste of what to expect when you do the race proper. Might also make for good content. Best of luck!
You are absolutely in the sweet spot - 1kg per week is hard but you are not far off and making great inroads. Just keep it going. I was ill this week so didn’t exercise much, but was pleased that I still managed a slight loss of 0.2kg. I don’t particularly mind if my progress is slow, so long as I am headed in the right direction…
I lost another kg but I do I feel run down.
Nice work. I am done overall half pound which is less than 0.25 kg. But still down Good luck on zwift.. Happy training
That welsh race sounds absolutely brutal. Signing up for an event is a good idea, will do that 👍
What is you height?
I was 105 Kg in May of 2014, by June I was 80Kg. a mixture of cycling, walking and hill walking as well as eating mostly salads (chicken) was the method. When training, do some rides longer than the final ride - this will make the final effort less of a mental or physical challenge, train with a challenge buddy so you can encourage each other. Don't forget to rest and allow the strength you have put into your legs to consolidate Good luck
Outstanding! I love the idea of a massive challenge!!!!
great challenge and rooting for you !!
Amazing and inspiring. 🙌
Will see you at the side of the road when you climb The Bwlch IF the event is going the direction of your map the last 15 miles are all downhill from the top of the Bwlch (wind turbines) I live at the foot of The Bwlch
Good luck! Get yourself a bigger rear cassette. I did a ride called the Cumbrian Cracker last year (92ish km/1400m) in around 4:15 with 46/33 front, 10-30 rear. Did it again a few days ago with 46/33 and 10-36t along with sugar water, I finished in 3:45.
I'm getting annoyed by constantly having to look at my watch while running to keep a consistent pace. If I want to do a threshold run, it's almost impossible to check the watch because that split second disrupts my running rhythm, and shaking the watch to see the data makes it worse. I think Sunglasses would be especially useful for running.
Hi, I have been following your channel for about a year now. Last year at this time I set a "similar" goal to celebrate turning 60. I was @ 98kg and signed up for the Albextreme 2024 here in Germany. I rode the 220km and at the end of the day it was 3800m of climbing. My goal was 90kg but I ended up at 85 on "race" day. Jut a few things from my experience. A strict training plan which I did on Zwift. A healthy diet and lots of LONG rides outside in the spring. A ride like the one you're taking on is a massive mental challenge. Heck, you know all this stuff having a personal trainer. My aim was 10 hours moving so a 22Km/h average so I think your average speed is a good goal. I think going down to 80kg is a tall order. I stalled at 85-87 and that seems to be my ideal weight. Remember you will lose some power as well. My FTP went down but my w/kg went up but at the end of the day that is what we want right? I have a new goal next year of 260km and 4400m so I will be training along with you so to speak. You WILL get it done....know that. I look forward to following your progress.
nice , did Alb Extrem back in the 90 s , 4 times , 2x 260 km 90,91 and 2x 300km 92,93 , 93 rode back to Stuttgart after the 300km , if you ve done the 220km you should be able to do the 260 km , find a group for the flat parts to save energy
Just a side note... You're a big dude, heard you say 100kg during the ride. Gotta use that to your advantage. So many times I saw you sit up and stop pedaling as soon as you crested a hill and those descents are your advantage. Try to get into the habit of putting in another hard push till you are truly over that hill and already moving down. That will help your momentum. I'm pretty sure you could have caught that chase group if you had just another 10 seconds of pedaling over those rollers.
Man, this race was brutal. My zwift club asked me to fill in for a missing rider on this race. My first experience with ZRL 😄Posted my best all time 5 and 20min power records on this race. Picked up a coach now too and he's bugging me to make ZRL part of my regular training so looks like I'll be back. Good job on this race man, it was hard.
Yeah it was a brutal route for sure, thankfully next weeks race is on a much flatter course!
Two years beats the 14 months I only got out of my Garmin Varia. I turn it on, it connects to my Edge, then within about 60 seconds it turns off. The battery is done for I’m afraid.
That's pretty poor, I would expect much better from garmin, did you contact them they'll probably send you a new one
@@JMower that’s my next step in the troubleshooting process. I did everything they said to do on their website. Tried multiple head units, verified software versions installed, hard reset, etc., etc.
I have this same unit. I have found that it works well, however I have had some inconsistent issues with the battery life. A few times the battery seemed to completely drain in just one ride. I spend a lot times riding on bike trails where I don't need the radar, so I have not used the device a lot.
Great to see a video of our race! I am sorry you didn't like the surges in the first 6 km. But we tried to make the race more difficult on the flat for the lighter riders 🙂
very expensive and you also need very expensive additional devices, which no doubt go obsolete every few years too. its ridiculous. everything should be integrated into the glasses so they just work. probably impossible but i aint buying an ipone or garmin for this gimmic. i'll stick with my £10 glasses and old free to me cateye cycle computer thanks
Great effort holding on to the lead group as long as you did on the climb, and to hold to 23rd place like you did is amazing. Great work. Keep it up. Cool videos as always 👍
Hi. Saw you in zwift. What's your new trainer? Wahoo?
Nah still using my old thinkrider x7 pro, but I use the power data from my bike's power meter instead
Impressive cadence man! Have you always had such a high one? I don't seem to remember that from your earlier videos.
Nope normally my cadence is really quite low, I was trying to keep it high during this one to save the legs for later
you blew the 2no SYN riders away up the Epic KOM :-)
You really managed your fitness very well, with high RPM to save the legs 👍
Good effort! You're an out the saddle climber, like Pantani
