Nice Video! I backed the Kickstarter campaign and received the Dual-Sided Powermeter only yesterday. Cant wait to test it on my Emonda SL5! Total value for money - 52-36 Crankset and a dual sided power meter all for $300 or so. I had to pay an equivalent of $60 as customs duty in India.
thanks dude!! Good to know
Love to see an update on this crankset, with all the fireware that have been relased since today.
Haven't checked out the new firmware yet
Any update on this crankset? I wanna buy them
I bought a power meter Magene P325 in July 2021. It came with a battery problem, I got a direct warranty from Magene 2 months later.
Worked fine for 14 months of use, had the same battery issue.
I contacted support more than 10 days ago with no response.
When it worked, it had good information. Currently I don't think it's a really good choice.
LoL. Done that with the chainring cutting me up. You are not the only one.
Ahhaah yup 😁😂
Hey Charles, I am thinking to buy a Power meter and most likely will be going with P325, My only concern is, whether Ultegra crank is compatible with SORA Groupset? Because on my bike its a complete Sora gearset so if I replace sora crank with an Ultegra one, will it still work? Many Thanks
Have one magene trainer. Their app would not function properly unless I give all the permissions to notification and location which should have nothing to do with connecting with the trainer. 4iiii is based in Calgary I think for getting support 4iiii is going to be a better choice for Canadian
Maybe yes! But 4iii are quite more expensive
I pledged their dual sided power meter, first power meter so I'm excited. :D
Hell yes!! 💯
@@CharlesOuimet I also pledged but for the single sided ..looking forward to it
How long use this ultegra p325? Any issue maybe accuracy, lost signal? Im interest with this ultegra magene
no problem so far!
The Magene isn't necessarily sending the data first. The clocks on each of your recording devices are out of sync.
Good to know, thanks!
Can use an ultegra one when the rest of my bike has 105?
Yes you can no problem!
I'm you I have assioma pedals but want something for my gravel bike and hopefully this will fit the bill. Just waiting for it to arrive.. happy days
Great video
Thank you David! Yeah I'm sure it will be plenty good enough for a Gravel bike
Would this fit my 2014 Cervelo s3 with a BBRIGHT bottom bracket?
I don’t know😅
Hey Charles I ended up backing this project as well! Thanks for the review, I just had a quick question. When you’re doing the unboxing, is it an ultegra crankset that you receive now? The reason I ask is because in Ronald Kubas review I guess he has the magene branded one. Do you get to choose? And is there any real difference between the two models? Thanks in advance sir!
Hey! Cool man!! Magene didn't have any more pre production model of their crank to send me so this is why I have the Ultegra! Same powermeter unit taught, this is why I didn't talked about the crank itself
@@CharlesOuimet thx for the response, is it bad that I’d rather have the ultegra one than the magene branded one 😅
Ahahah understandably, but for 600$ instead of 300?😂 I think it's a solid option for a budget bike
Been using their P35 dual sided R8000 cranks for two seasons now. Very durable, ridden through salt water and mud.
That's awesome news!
Did you find the same problem as Shane Miller with a wobbling pedal?
Shane had the kickstarter crank, I have the ultegra one. In this video I talked about the powermeter unit only. Maybe in the future i'll have my hands on their own crank, and I'll see if there is any issue with it!
Usd199 for dual base PM ??? Link please
Link in description, 199 for one sided PM crank, 299 for dual!
@@CharlesOuimet thanks but I cant seem to find the link to buy 😅
One thing that might surprise you... P35 dual side r8000 cranks cost ~cny 2100 or $300 when on sale in China earlier this month. =P
That's a bargin!!
link?
@@johnnyboy4711 it was double eleven sale, already ended. If you are not based in China you would actually be looking at (price in China + shipping) * (1 + VAT in your country), no much difference than Aliexpress I guess...
@@realEthanZou any info for the website provide the sale ?? or good place to shop shimano parts from China?
Those bike shots dans le garage!
Ahahah B ROLLLLL
Does the mangene capture cadence as well?
Yes it does!
@@CharlesOuimet thank you!!!
Happened to me once too to forget removing the pedals while the crank is on the bike, also cut myself lmao. Needless to say I know now
Ahahahah yes, same..!!
I'm not the only person to call themself a dumb**** when you have a slips and remove some bark. Refreshing to actually see that in a video.
Ahahahahah it happens to everyone 😂 stupid mistake I'll try to avoid next time hehe
ils font pas de powermeter pour un 1x :(
Dommage! Aupire tu le run en 1x et tu peux changer manuellement si tu met big ring ou small ring ahah!! D'après moi dans le future maybe?
sorry like comparing apples and oranges, you need to review the exact version from kickstarter.
I'd say more like comparing an apple to an other type of apple. It's the exact same powermeter unit, different crank but still show accurate data, same recharging process, etc...
@@CharlesOuimet love the channel, I have a winspace TT100 and it is some machine, pity there is no bigger chainring options than 53,yet! delighted the power data is consistent with other sources!
@@CharlesOuimet But they are selling it with the crank, and the only review so far of the entire unit cites fundamental issues with the crank.
Ha, that phrase on the box is typical Chinese English. It actually means "(this unit hopefully will)take you to the peak of your cycling performance." Makes perfect sense in Chinese albeit a bit corny…and it loses meaning when improperly translated into English.
Ahaha yes really corny, thanks for explaining man!
its unfortunate you couldn't get the Kickstarter crank, i think the ultrega crank makes certain parts of the review mute, still a very well made vid though!
Thank you!!
That is not Cs version ,that's the commercial available version currently.
Exactly!
@@CharlesOuimet the CS version was Kickstarter and had some issues ,so to say the one you reviewed is the CS is not accurate.
@@johnnyboy4711 I reviewed the powermeter unit. Which is the exact same on this Ultegra than the CS. Not the crank itself
@@CharlesOuimet surely the crank and power meter are the same system, where one generates data to the other.
Hi Charles,
I am a great fan of your channel. Love the clip on your toughest climb (ruclips.net/video/o_Ssarp4CGw/видео.html). Very motivating :-) Thanks for sharing your story.
Regarding the Magene Ultegra P325, I am short to buy those, but still have three questions:
1.) Your review is >1y old. Any long term negative experiences?
2.) Did you try the Lite or the Full version? The Full version enables software functions for Torque Effectiveness, Pedal Balance, Pedal Smoothness, but it costs about 150 USD more, so I am wondering if I need those functions?
3.) I see that you used a 170mm crank arm length. Is this you normal size or did you switch from a different length? My usual size is 172.5mm (I guess the most common standard), but this version is sold out, so I consider to choose between 170 or 175mm.
Appreciate your feed. Many Thanks in advance,
Thomas (currently cycling in Singapore).
Thanks Thomas! appreciate it a very much.
1. No long term problem still works fine.
2. I nerver used those data
3. yes 170 is my normal weight. I dont know your height but usually these days, the shorter the better
But if I were you, I'd check out Stages powerpeters :) They are better, and you have real warranty from a US based company

Magnetic charging cords don't do well with cats... You should know this! They will knock that charger out of that port in no time!
Ahahaah!! yup they would. should have mentionned it
Magene and the way you pronounce it makes me think of a strongly resembling word Hambini often uses......
not sure what you mean here
@@CharlesOuimet Replace M for a V, and with your pronunciation of the rest.
@@airgead5391 ahahhhahaahah
But it's still to expensive over here
Yeahhh!
Nice video but I have to say that these Kickstarter projets are just "project" so they are not reliable or trustable. You are taking a big risk when you pledge your money, it can be a failure and they have rights to not do the refund, I’m saying because it already happened to me. I would suggest you to buy a proper power meter. You can find a 4iiii or stages one sided power meter for 250$
Thanks man! As mentionned, this is not a start-up, and they have pre-production device out there already, this ''project'' is more of a discounted pre-sale from what I understood. $250 for a left arm + $250-300 for a crank. That's over 500$, lots more than what Magene has to offer with this launch
@@CharlesOuimet yes you are right that for dual side with the crank arm price go up to $500. And I want to say that I really like your videos, keep up the good the work! 😁
Magene is pretty reputable and have an expansive product line. They even have their own virtual cycling platform called One Lap.
My whole bike is of 338 dollars 😢😢
Cheap!
broo you need take out your pedal first before remove the whole crank part from your bike
I know man I fcked up lmao
Any update on this crankset? I wanna buy them
