    • Deep Purple - Hard Lov...
Taken from the classic 1970 album, Deep Purple IN ROCK, check out this brilliant new clip compiled by long term Ian Gillan fan, Igor Gruden, who has done an amazing job synchronising the material in celebration of Ian Gillan's 70th birthday on 19th August 2015.
deep purple (musical group),hard rock (musical genre),hard lovin man (musical recording),music (tv genre),ian gillan (musical artist)
hello from Sydney/Australia I picked "hard lovin man" from deep purple's "in rock" album for you to check out. It was the first LP I bought in 1977. it left a deep impression on me back then, and it continues to be my favourite hard rock album. Yngwie Malmsteen said that "Hearing In Rock was like taking a brick and just shoving it right in your head. Everybody talks about Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, and I love those bands, too. But In Rock is heavier and more metal than any of the other guys." I could not agree more! a few comments from me: iron maiden fans might feel that the song sounds familiar. that is not a coincidence. deep purple were massive in Europe in the 70ies, and iron maiden were heavily influenced by them . and when "hard lovin man" was recorded in January 1970, it was the very first time the band worked with sound engineer martin birch (who was credited as 'catalyst' on the lp). and a decade later the same Martin birch became the sound engineer and producer of - wait! - iron maiden! richie blackmore and jon lord deserve special mention. these days Blackmore isn't talked about much, yet he influenced a generation of heavy metal guitar players such as malmsteen. in rock was Blackmore's album, he wanted to make a statement after purple had performed with a symphony orchestra, and so he stamped his authority on the album and the band. the result is a timeless masterpiece. Jon lord was considered the "King of the hammond organ". not only did he establish the organ as a solo instrument in hard rock, he also pushed his hammond to the limit, and beyond. a music critic said that lord "could make a Hammond organ do things that other keyboardists could only dream about". you will hear the evidence of that in "hard lovin man". And finally: there is no promotional video and no live footage from that area, but deep purple posted this clip on their offical youtube channel. and If it's good enough for them then it's good enough for me. There you have it then. it is well worth remembering that this song was recorded in January 1970, and more than 50 years later it still sounds insanely good. fasten seat belts, and turn up the volume. hope you enjoy!

I'm so glad you guys got to hear this! Awesome reaction just as I was expecting! So much more out there for you - including dozens and dozens of organ solos! To match the power of Ritchie on the guitar he fed his Hammond organ into a Marshall guitar amplifier - and the rest is history! Just so annoying that there's not a lot of decent footage from way back then, but thought the guy did well with the effort on this one! I used to test out the stereo settings on Dad's gramophone by playing the end of this track!

DP has a great new album out. I was impressed and am going to see them Sept 7th. New Guitarist and Don Airey on keys and Ian is sounding great for being 78. A version of Yes with Steve Howe are warm up. Should be fun! Keith Emerson was the master of the keys if you want to see solos. This V2 of Deep Purple was killer!

The heaviest Deep Purple album up to date. The modern power and speed metal is based mostly on Deep Purple. Never heard of a keyboard solo? Clearly you’ve been living under a rock your whole life.
Deep Purple have been the kings of the organ solo since 1968, check out their first hit song “Hush” for example.
Here we are 56 years later and they have just released their 23rd studio album, “= 1” (equals one).
Purple is still on the road and currently touring Europe (the only time they stopped touring in recent years was when everyone was forced to during Covid).
*Ian Paice, drums - age 76, since 1968
*Ian Gillan, vocals - age 78, since 1969
*Roger Glover, bass - age 78, since 1969
*Don Airey, Hammond organ - age 76, since 2002 - (Don replaced the late Jon Lord when he retired in 2002)
*Simon McBride, guitar - age 45, since 2022 - (Simon replaced Steve Morse when he left the band to look after his wife who had terminal cancer, she recently passed away. Morse was in the band for 28 years, from 1994-2022, much longer than Blackmore who quit mid tour in 1993)
Still making and playing good solid rock n roll.

RITCHIE BLACKMORE...a God of Guitar! Yet he hardly gets the mentions that others such as Page, Hendrix, Beck, Clapton and Van Halen do, but make no mistake about it....he was greater than them all! A major influence on Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy Rhoads, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and even if EVH was loathe to admit it, yes him too. And, Blackmore was the Godfather of Shred guitar and Neo-Classical rock. And, JON LORD - The Maestro on the Keys, running his Hammond organ thru a Marshall Stack and unleashing the Beast! IAN GILLAN, the Original Jesus Christ Superstar, who in his prime was absolutely untouchable in vocal range and power. IAN PAICE on drums...waaaaaaay underrated and far superior to most other rock drummers of his time...and still playing in Purple to this day. And ROGER GLOVER, rock steady on bass and holding it all down on a firm foundation so that the others can fly into the cosmos. DEEP PURPLE......a group of virtuosos......best band ever!!!

no, that's how everyone who doesn't know the swedish language mispronounce his name. It's actually pronounced differently but most likely impossible with the english language sounds.

This is bound to grind someone’s gears, but for me, from the age of about 18 onwards (I’m now nearly 65) I’ve always considered Deep Purple the best hard rock band ever, and Ritchie the best individual ever to pick up an electric guitar. Lots of contenders for that title I know, but the guy just does a Vulcan mind meld with the strings. There is, was, nor ever shall be anyone to compare. Sabbath deserves every plaudit possible for creating an entire genre, and Zeppelin were certainly unique. But I’m sorry, Zeppelin are, in my opinion, THE most overrated artists in the history of rock music. Musician for musician they are inferior to every member of Deep Purple mk2 and 3 and have Peter Grant to thank for a status that is now way beyond their capabilities as a rock band. Don’t misinterpret those remarks. I’m not saying Zeppelin had no talent, didn’t write good songs, didn’t put on memorable performances, but as a band, compared to Purple, sorry, but the hype overtook the reality.

Dude your talking shit😂. Just admit you hate them. Page is a far more influential guitarist. And neither are the best. I mean saying Ritchie is the best is insane. And Glover a better bass / musician than JPJ 😡got to be kidding . Plant / Gillan even give or take ,each has strength and weaknesses. But Bonham is the most in grove drummer in classic Rock. But hey love what you want
