Probably because it was so advanced, so sophisticated. I mean, anybody can play Smoke on the Water on their guitar at home. Very few can play Rat Bat Blue...... Machine Head and Who Do We Think We Are were their zenith studioalbums, with Made in Japan in between as the best live album ever. After that Burn, which was slightly less super, And then the decline.... Don't get me wrong, any DP album is better than most hard rock albums out there, but 1971-1973 were their peak years.
hello great reaction ,you were absolutely wright describing deep purpel as the " DEFINITION OF ROCK BAND " NO BAND ROCK HARDER THEN DEEP PURPLE,YOU ALSO MAY LIKE SPACE TRUCKING , FROM MADE IN JAPAN ALBUM WHICH IS A LIVE RECORDED ALBUM WITH A LONG VERSION OF LIVE SHOW IN JAPAN TOUR ON 1972 ,YOU MAY BE AMAZED WITH THAT PERFORMANCE .KEEP ON AND MANY THANKS .JOSEPH FROM ISRAEL.
… Yes, there are other bands and not just Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Black S. etc - there is also Deep Purple and they have been making damn good music since 1968 ... especially from 1969 to 1975 the best songs for me. 🎸🎹🥁🎤 Thank You
Thanks again Travis and Suzi for a great reaction. Suzi nailed the WOA! perfectly. 🤣🤣🤣 I have never understood why this album (Who Do We Think We Are) did not receive better reviews and following. It is still one of my personal favorites by Deep Purple. By the way------the greatest band ever. IMO.
Who do you think we are is such an underrated album. The only song that gets any radio play is Woman From Tokyo. The rest of the album is just as good.
When I was a young lad in the early 70's, my older brother gave me my first real taste of rock which has stayed with me ever since: Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, and Black Sabbath
3:11 Rat bat Blue is not popular to the masses, because it comes from an album that is criminally underrated by silly music guides. I've loved the "Who do we think we are" album since 1973.
Deep Purple never dissapoint..... their music and productions are great.... this is an underrated track.... one more like this that you should check is 'You fool no one'
Most people reacting to Deep Purple choose the same songs, mainly "Child In Time", "Highway Star", "Lazy" and "Smoke On The Water". I wish more reactors would react to Purple's other less hyped gems like "Fireball". "No, No, No", "Demons Eye", "Fools", "Mary Long", Super Trouper","Sail Away, and "Rat, Bat Blue".
Excellent! So right! Especially like "Fools". Deep Purple had so many great songs. I once tried to get a local rock station to play "No, No, No" and they acted like what the heck am I talking about. Their loss.
Mark2 created their own genre with the monumental In Rock album. It was a genre only they ever played. They were quite simply the greatest group of rock musicians of all-time.
Last album of the mark 2 line up (except Perfect Strangers) and not considered as one of their greatest but I love it and this a great track, love Jon Lords keyboards, may I suggest Hard Lovin Man. Jon Lord at his best👌
One thing amazing about it is that the band was in turmoil when this was made. Certain people weren't even speaking to each other and were recording their parts more or less in isolation. It was the last album with Gillan and Glover until Perfect Strangers came out in the mid-80s, some 12 years later.
I love that album ❤ It is so underrated, because Purple made so many great albums during that period. Similar to Machine Head, they did many different styles on this album. I love the bluesy vibes on "Place in Line" as much as the straight "Rat Bat Blue" and the spacy "Our Lady". Great work 👍
Deep Purple is under appreciated in the States. Blackmore and Gillan each got sick on subsequent tours , then the lineup change when Made in Japan was peaking, and Who Do We Think We Are was dropped , Woman From Tkyo, people liked it but then they change singers, and fans wanted the Made in Japan lineup, though Burn was fantastic, and got airplay. They were very well accepted in Europe, Eastern Europe, Sweden and Japan at the time, probably to this day. Plus they were loud and they were appealing mostly to males, parcticularly aspiring guitarists, and noone played the keys like Jon Lord R.I.P., not to mention both Ians and Roger at the top of their games. I ramble on. Its my view. Many ask the same question, why are they not more popular.
For some unknown (to me) reason, this album just passed by. Maybe people were looking for another In Rock or Machine Head or something. I liked it just as much myself. The same thing happened with Fireball.
I always thought this was the best track on the album. Jon lords playing on this track and a the album as a whole was superb! What was noticeable on the album was the lack of Blackmore solos, a gap that mr Lord seemed happy to fill. The main rif sounds like a faster version of WFTokyo. Ian’s drumming was outstanding. Always thought Paice’s drumming was in a league of its own. All those jazz influences…. Great vid!
I have always considered WDWTWA as one of the best album right after In Rock and MIJ , better than MH , Rat Bat Blue is much better than SOTW , i always thought that the organ solo on that song is the best one i ever heard in rock music .....Jon Lord ....thank you...❤
Excellent Purple track! The reason it's not more popular is because of lack of exposure, lack of rock press hype, rock press animosity towards the band, band splits, poor management and poor marketing. The product however is far superior to most other bands' output.
The band was in turmoil at the time of recording. The entire lp was recorded separately from each member. Gillan and Blackmore were not even communicating. Shame this happened. I think the band got too big too fast. Too many ego's. But, Yeah. Some hard rocking tunes. My fav is Super Trouper. Check that one out.
Love Deep Purple back then, but overall, I was more of a fan of Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow material, especially the Ronnie James Dio years. Ritchie Blackmore got less bluesy and added classical elements to his playing in the Rainbow years, and Dio just even brought more depth to Blackmore's writing.
Best track off the album, trouble is they used it twice check out my woman from Tokyo . I ordered this album before release, waited patiently but it turned out to be a bit of a dog after fireball, in rock and machine head just not as good. nor was the next album burn. More like burnt out. I got the impression too much pressure from record label.
Purple is the best rock band all time❤
Criminally underrated album. And this song is a banger up there with their best.
The keyboards and drums are another level...such a great song and very underated
This is from the golden era of Deep Purple. Amazing!
FINALLY. Someone is reacting to this song. Thank you. WOOO
This was DEEP PURPLE `s best line up , also from the same album , Super Trooper or Place in line .
Great song. Love this band. Amazing musicians.
I LOVE SO MUCH ALL SONGS OF DEEP PURPLE. BRAVO DP !!!! FOREVER IN MY SOUL SOUL AND HEART.
Deep Purple were overshadowed by Led Zeppelin, which has always been a complete mystery to me. Personally I think DP blew LZ out of the water.
In US, not in Europe and Japan
Because Deep Purple professed the British style of rock, unlike the pro-American Led Zeppelin. America has been a leader in promoting show business
Great song from stunning musicians!
Never got why this whole album was considered not so great. One of my favourite albums of theirs.
And ultimately mine favorite too!
I felt the same way.
I've always loved this album just as much as the prior three Mach II releases! Next up go with Smooth Dancer and the groovy Place In Line. Rock on, T
Purple fans love this album and fireball as well.

Jon Lord on keys! Nobody could touch him!

Saw Deep Purple a few days ago, and they still put on a great show. AND I caught a drumstick from Ian Paice!!
I love this album! Early 80- listening DP, first I saw was in Helsingissä 87, still loving them. Underreated album, thisone!
After 66 years, this is now my favourite DP track! How did I miss it?? What killer riffs! Thanx guys, from New Zealand.
Masterpiece 💜
One of Jon Lord’s best solos ever R.I.P Maestro ✝️
Rarely played live for some odd reason 🎼
Gracias, gracias!!! Adoro a Deep Purple 💜 me han acompañado durante 50 años al menos!!!
Ustedes son encantadores ❤.
Ahaha, amo a Ian Gillan!!
💜💜💜💜💜
Semplicemente, stratosferici
It’s incredible seeing this genuine appreciation and enthusiasm for an often overlooked album from the Deep Purple catalog. Thanks for sharing!

Haven't heard this for ages brilliant.
Can't beat some early Purple when they were flat out, love'em
A disregarded master piece..

Totalmente de acuerdo es un tremendo álbum!!
I loved this album, but is was not only the critics who ran it down, Blackmore said he hated it.
@@ukpeacheater Very good album. He also doesn't think much of Fireball and Made in Japan which PURPLExes many.
@@bookhouseboy280 You can even hear from his playing that Blackmore was disinterested in Who Do We Think We Are.
@@ukpeacheatermenos mal que lo odiaba e hizo un tremendo álbum imagínate si lo amase!!!!

Fools also! From Fireball.
My favorite Purple album.
One of my top D.P. tunes.
It was real popular back in the seventies

Try fools live at Monterey jazz festival..
nobody solo like jonlord
Next: Mandrake Root live in Paris 1970
Black Sabbath,Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple the holy triad of rock music🤘

Jon Lord was a musical genius. Still sad he is gone.
They did 3 studio albums together after this one, but this was the last of their original run.
@@tuffs4it This was the last album of the Blackmore, Lord, Glover, Paice, Gillan line up until Perfect Strangers came out

Finalmente!! Tutto l album è fantastico, vai a SMOOTH DANCER.... registrato anche a Roma, tra l altro 💜💜💜💜💜
"Flight Of The Rat" next ;-)
Hard lovin man
@@grahamjeffries4566 That would be a perfect choice too 🙂Nothing beats "In Rock"
Best song on in rock..love the whole album.

great
Great reaction,great group!!
It's Deep Purple, before 1980, so of course it jams !
yes you are living on a rock
Ian Gillan's vocals were at their PEAK on this album and the production also was killer!
Listen to this all the time. I had this album when I was 14. Also had In Rock.
Haha that WOo was awesome!! Check out that song you guys accidentally skipped to! Deep Purple - Stormbringer!!
Très bons goûts geent ce groupe 🎸👏👍👏👍👏
ESTE ÁLBUM DE DEEP PURPLE ES SUPERB!!!! 🔥🔥🎸🎸
My fav DP track.
brilliant reaction you guys^^ You should also give "Black Night", "Woman from Tokyo" a try two other brilliant Purple songs 🤘
Great song and Gillan killed it.
Super!!!!!!!!!!!!++++
Great stuff. Try Deep Purple 'Maybe I'm A Leo'
05:06 Awesome!
Ah yes, the vitually unknown bassist of mk2 Deep Purple...Roger Glow-ver. 🤣🤣🤣
For some unknown (to me) reason, this album just passed by. Maybe people were looking for another In Rock or Machine Head or something. I liked it just as much myself. The same thing happened with Fireball.
5:05 perfection :D
Bardzo polecam utwór mistreated oczywiście też deep parple
don't remeber ever hearing this on the radio (b4 MTV) I think it was on made in Japan also
No, they never played it live. I think I have seen that they did with Steve Morse, not sure.

🤝👍🙏👏👏👏👏👏
Deep Purple were more successful than popular - Ritchie Blackmore.
This is not popular music, but serious music.
I still think Ian Gillan was the best vocalist in Deep Purple.
The thing Jerry didn't tell was they as a group they didn't like this album and this was the last album of the mk2 lineup
I have always considered WDWTWA as one of the best album right after In Rock and MIJ , better than MH , Rat Bat Blue is much better than SOTW , i always thought that the organ solo on that song is the best one i ever heard in rock music .....Jon Lord ....thank you...❤
You guys should listen to smooth dancer from this album
Good
Underrated swing. This is ROCK. Blackie did not contribute effort on this one - only the riff. .
Excellent Purple track! The reason it's not more popular is because of lack of exposure, lack of rock press hype, rock press animosity towards the band, band splits, poor management and poor marketing. The product however is far superior to most other bands' output.
Gillan and Glover left Purple after recording this album,to be replaced by Coverdale and Hughes.
Es un tema que no tuvo reconocimiento al igual que todo el lp pero tiene una calidad innegable para mí uno de los mejores discos de los Purple !
This is Deep Purple and this is Ian Gillan , bab😊y

Ian f**king Paice!!
The band was not getting a long at the time this was the last album for the mark 2 lineup the band did not like this album
Nothing.
Riff stolen from the Allman Brothers' "One Way Out."
What a shame.
To much interruption lady your to loud
This album has no line.
It's a song i hate sooooooo much, no melody. This album is trash.
This album is disco for me. No conseption, nothing, sooo bad tracks. That's why ritchie leave.
I have this album. It's my favorite from the purple. Not a bad track on this one...
Next reaction should be "Super Trouper" by the purple...
Mi pare che lei lo tratti con malcelato disprezzo e non mi piace per niente
Non guarderò più il loro canale....
