What a wonderful video Marta. The way u listed all d products one by one and answered their why's and what's is just fabulous...(.i mean why they r musts and what to be used when). The very best thing and a must must have thing for any creation...not just mixed media is actually INSPIRATION and giving urself a start. And the way u discussed in ur 11th point was just FABULOUS!! That is is main thing actually all crafters need to have. I travelled so much in last 2 yrs from city to city and met so many crafters who r gud in so many fields but very scared to give themselves a gud start....might b they r scared of already sitting expert designers or they are they lack confidence in finding the expert in them. Thanks again for inspiring us all!!

Marta you are officially my art mentor. I love your work, I love your instructions, and frankly I could listen to your voice all day long. I love your accent. I thought that mixed media work would be something I could have as a goal that I could shoot for down the line. Now I realize that I won't really get to learn until I start. I am planning on making journals for my family for holiday gifts and I asked in a few facebook groups for old greeting cards that I could use as collages and elements. I got the first set yesterday, and I as I went through them I could hear your voice telling me "this is a good thing, and you can use that thing for...." You are truly beautiful inside and out! I am new to this whole mixed media world and what a great video for me to stumble across!I started watching your videos about 2months ago and I LOVE THEM!!! I have been using my mixed media art as a way of healing from domestic violence and have set up an entire art room for me and my kids to do family time creating art together. I have seen such a huge difference in my kids since starting this time of healing through art! I have now taken this back into the domestic violence shelters and have set up time to create art with other survivors of dv. Marta, i would so love to go thru ur journals thoroughly. The more i see ur work, the more i fall in love with it. I've never done mixed media, but i am so inspired by ur videos and i have already started to get my basic supplies together, in fact, i received my first stencils today from Amazon.ca!! So excited!! I do have to mention tho, that i live on a fixed disability income, so i will have to try and compromise some of the supplies. For example, i will learn how to make my own gesso, since it is quite pricey online.
I am not sure on all the mainstream craft stores there but in my region of the states Hobby Lobby, AC Moore, & Michael's all have 40% off coupons & randomly have 50-60% ones as well. Dragging a friend or few out with you to use several of those coupons at once is a great way to grab the higher dollar items.
This is the video that I have been looking for! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent and for explaining in detail the supplies needed to get started. I have some basic things already but didn't know the difference between gesso, gels, etc. I have started an art journal just with cutting and pasting magazine pics, tissue papers, washi tape, and lots of mod podge... just so basic but it makes me sooo happy to play like this and have some me time. Thanks so much again... you are such a beautiful person!
Thank you Maremi ! Im in the US and I didn't know where to start with mixed media and i have a few supplies. It was nice to get a list of things that I add to my supplies and what you can do with them. I was looking for someone who can explain the basics so I can start experimenting a little at a time. Loved your idea of using an old book to journal in to start.

Do you know what I really enjoyed about this video? It felt like you were talking directly to me. I'm sure most people felt that way. And I kept nodding in agreement...as if you could see! LOL. Something that might help on buying the expensive stuff like gelatos or alcohol markers...buy a few at a time & use coupons. I bought all of my gelatos one pack of 4 at a time, and my spectrum noir markers one pack of 6 at a time. You don't have to buy it all at once. 😄 Thanks for another engaging vlog, Marta. You really are a natural.

Marta- thank you for this video. I have all these supplies in my stash but have found the idea of starting an art journal frightening. This is exactly the video I was looking for. Thank you for all this valuable information. I have been journaling for a long time. Now I am using my own ephemera that I have collected throughout the years and also using crayons and markers; glue, washi tapes; distress ink more recently, really very basic stuff. I am more inclined to use water colors but I am not sure jut yet. Also thank you for taking about giving credit to the people - more like artist I must say - that inspire us. That is very nice of you. Keep the videos coming !! :)
I am just about start my journey and find this really helpful . Your advice will save me a lot money when I know what I need to get started and simply don't end up buying everything I see just in case .
