I'm not a young (I'm sixty) but I want to try art journaling because I feel the need to tell what I have in my heart at the moment
well I stop my speach, I think you will have some problems to understand what I wanted to say you!!!!
    thanks for all!!

thank you so much Sandra, I think I I improved my English since I look at Marta's videos and since I participate in her group on FB !! however I have to admit that I sometimes use a translator (some grammar deficiencies)

Good for you too Beatrice! I began collecting my art supplies on Amazon for my 54th birthday last April! I am ready for gesso and matte medium, and texture paste! I found a way to afford stamps and stencils getting them overseas. That really was holding me back because I wanted those things but they are quite expensive for me. I began drawing everything. It is so wonderful to hear that we middle age ladies can do this art and how truly amazing and expressive it is, and how good we feel, right? Thanks for sharing.

I have watched these 'breaking the pages' over and over and this videos is so special. I was doing Christmas cards and I thought they looked ugly but then your words came to mind 'there is no right or wrong' Marta you have NOOO idea how much it means to me. I have so much 'health stuff' going on but your words stuck. I will try and try again, please stay the person you are to help us that need someone like you to fill our lives with positive energy. Thank you and big hugs. 🌹

I read your note, but your English is great! So few people in the US are bilingual, your use of a difficult language is very impressive! You have such pretty eyes too. Unrelated, but who doesn't like a complement? 😄 This is a great video, thank you for putting this together. I have done almost everything else; drawing, painting, scrapbookong, cardmaking, etc. So, this is a new endeavor for me where I can bring it all together. I will be watching for your tips. Thank you much!

Marta I have to say you are so humble and sweet. You are not just Marta you are The Marta Lapkowska!!!I don't think you really realize how many of us you have influenced in such a positive way. I want to thank-you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to make these videos! They are so enjoyable and informative. I sometimes have them playing in the background when I work because I find your encouragement so inspirational. I have done my first art journal page which I will post and tag you. It is not great but it is a start as you say!! You crack me up buying those markers! :) And hello to sweet Emily she is such a cutie. Again many thanks for what you do it has helped me so much and I am positive there are hundreds more like me around the world who watch. I hope one day that you travel to Canada and have a class here. This I would save money for! All the best!

As a Mum to 4 girls, I have become aware of how much they have grown and changed before my eyes, and I look at them in awe of what they have all achieved. In regards to that, I felt like I wanted to look back at some of your older videos, as you are accessible, and it's not often that you get to see these changes happening to other young women, and I'm intrigued with that. It really is a treat to see how much you have changed and grown with us. It is a privilige to see you develop, come out of your shell, be a wonderful creator and teacher, and most importantly, be a Mum. Now, I wasn't intending to post here....just watch...but I'm glad that I did, as you remind us at the end, to share your videos, and honestly, I never have, as I don't have crafting family or friends, but, I am on Pinterest, so now, I will start sharing to my Pinterest page, as that makes a difference to you (don't really understand YT, but you say it makes a difference, so I will do it) Thank you Marta, for being the extraordinary woman that you are. You truly make a difference in my life, as I've always doubted my abilities, but you always are encouraging, and I often hear your voice saying "just do it", so I do.:) Blessings to you and your beautiful family.💜

I love your videos, your art, and your message to us about not being afraid to do our art our own way and don't try to be perfect. I'm getting back into crafting and have discovered art/junk journaling. I love your ideas on how to break a blank page and the suggestions about tools to use. I made a few pages of my own while watching some of your videos. I would never have thought about using some of the items you used if I hadn't seen your videos. Thanks for opening my eyes to the possibilities!

This is an excellent video for new artists, as well as old! This is a great cheerleading video to watch if you are stuck on a project, or with a blank canvas or paper!
We all get stuck sometimes, and hearing ways others work through it helps is to grab our paints & supplies, perhaps something new, and get out of the rut, and create something wonderful!
I was stuck on a painting on a substrate I had never used before, with a medium needed that changed colors on me (color shifting) while painting a landscape. I repainted parts of it several times, and knew I needed to step away from it & get some encouragement to keep going on it. It was a gift for a special date, so I was also on a timeline.
Watching your & other RUclipsr's videos gave me a fresh perspective & I not only got ot done, but the recipient absolutely loved it!
Your videos are wonderful! And you're right! The only rules about our art are really the ones we make up for ourselves! Making sure we aren't too critical of our own work allows us to loosen up, enjoy the process, and our creations look far better for it!
    Thank you!
I know you mentioned other people copying your work, and not mentioning you. I'd take it as a complement, and realize that unless we tell people, especially new people, they will not know that it is customary to do so.
I think sometimes I've seen a number of vodeos, yet seen so many that I'm not sure where a method or idea comes from. I've also painted for 40+ years (mostly recreationally), and learned methods many years ago that some seem to think is new today (perhaps they discovered it on their own?)
I've also painted a picture (& seen others do so, that I'm pretty sure didn't collaborate, and some hadn't talked to each other), and sometimes 2 or more RUclipsrs will paint almost the same subject, and I have as well sometimes, yet to my knowledge they hadn't talked, and I certainly hadn't talked to the other people!
Sometimes it's so close that it's spooky, and has me wondering what the odds are mathematically, and also if there's not some link between us that logic doesn't seem to be able to explain.
If someone is copying your work, using a "traceable" you've provided, etc., then they should give you credit, at the very least, on the back of the canvas.
There are SO many tutorials, so many artists, and so many years people have been sharing, we're bound to have some crossover of methods, and even similar pictures, pages in scrapbooks, cards, journals, etc., yet if using on RUclips, they should give credit where it's due!
I've seen some tutorials that seem to be a copy of images I've seen for art parties, which is fine to do, as long as the artist, or of not known (there are stock artists under hire by some, and names aren't released... (sometimes by the artists' requests, although a nod to whoever did it, IMHO, would be appreciated, I'm sure.
If someone wants to copy or do a rendition of your work, CLEARLY they found it something they liked well enough to copy for their home, a gift, to sell, etc., so the fact that they're copying it for themselves shows that YOU have talent!
For those new to the art world, If you're going to make any piece of art the way someone else has done it on a tutorial, give them credit for it! If it's for your RUclips audience, tell them! Put a link in the description, and if you want to copy someone's work, get their permission!
We will still have people painting the same things, but differently; using methods others' use, yet generally on different subjects, if only slightly; yet it's rare to have both (although I have seen some VERY similar paintings pop out of 2, 3 & 4 people in a day or two, that looked similar, yet still has some differences!
When certain things happen in the world, it's interesting to see how many artist's paint flowers in a simple painting, when all is well and calm, how many will branch out into far more intricate projects. Colors used seem to be more complex as well and less color contrasts during tenser & stressful times.
This certainly isn't true of everyone, but there seems to be something to this!
Has anyone else noticed this? Seen very similar paintings/pictures/methods come out on the same day?
Anyhow, we should give credit where it's due! (Although I think we can leave out things like the person/people who invented paint, paint brushes, and other tools, paints, etc., unless you are creating your own paints too, yet that's another craxy subject! So many names that are logical used, new colors sometimes have strange names that don't seem to make sense with the colors they are!
Sometimes the 'credit' thing goes too far, others that copy sometimes don't say who they copied from, and CLEARLY they should!
If you are copied, however, know that what you did is CLEARLY something that was appreciated!
If you are copying someone's work without permission, without giving credit where it's CLEARLY due, that's not right! (& if profitting from someone else's work still under copyright, could wind you up in a court room being sued for the money you made off someone else's work!
Being original is FAR more fun anyhow! If we all do exactly the same thing in exactly the same way, then can we still even call it art?
    Something to think about!
Broaden your horizons, break the "rules" of a "Masterpiece", then create a new Masterpiece of your own with your own rules! Keep those analyzing what our brain's think is "pleasing" scratching their heads, least, like TV "programs" (including movies), we all, in our quests for "The perfect masterpiece", will use a formula that will spit out eventually the same thing, and a "Masterpiece" will mean nothing more than a statistical probability that most people will like the formula's results, which is what is done for TV & movies, and why so many older shows are redone again and again, yet very few (if any) truly new plots, stories, etc.
TV is programmed & is used for programming people as well!
    OK, off mu soap box!!!
    Love your videos!
    ...
    Love your videos!

Wau Marta ! You are simply adorable! I have been watching all this inspirational video of yours very carefully and at the end, some emotional tears have been dropped from my heart. Believe me, I had my hand pressing my heart very gently and if I had been able to keep these beautiful tears in a small tiny bottle, I would have written a sweet sentiment on it; just two words THANKS MARTA! I do not know where my inspiration is but I do not worried about it. I perfectly know that it will come. In the mean time I just sit on the sofá, take my tablet and I watch facebook, pinterest, my RUclips channels or instagram and enjoy it. And I follow all your projects and videos because you do not only speak about Art but you speak about LIFE.My heart is sad, my soul is empty but I ll never give up. I am soldier, I am a fighter! It’s not a art journal but I’m verrrry slowly getting into it by adding 3D elements to my sketchbook. I normally take paper and cut it into shapes to create embellishments for my sketchbook

Thank you so much for sharing your art and Ideas with us. I’m going to start my first journal tomorrow. I’m so excited! I love it that you repurpose old books. I have a bookstore I go to where they have bins outside with free books. So I’m going to find a perfect book to start in. I love the envelopes you did they are beautiful. You’re so inspiring. Thank you .

I do not always have enough money for the things I want. Yesterday I took my dies and cut shapes from my home made chip board. Old cereal boxes. I figure I can color them then glue them on my pages. I would love to buy wooden chip board but what I make is just as creative as buying those things. I also taught myself to make three-day flours and have a box of them! I do use images from old magazines, you have sparked new ideas on how to use them. Yet I still hesitate on starting my pages. I once used cheap makeup to make glimmer sprays. I saw your video on using makeup, and plan on using them. I do not paint my face so often! Plus my husband works at a dollar store.(lb store) I am sorry if my post sometimes does not make sense. It is that auto correct changing my words. Thank you for encouraging me, and teaching me various techniques. Love you and your art!

I do remember that I enjoyed it. Thank you so much for this and other informative and encouraging videos to help me get started!

I have been studying watercolor fundamentals for 4 months. Additionally, I have all but my mediums which I get in 2 weeks for art journaling. I mean I have bits of LOTS of things and a brand new large Ranger journal. I took a break this week from water color purism...I began to feel stuck. I took out my papers and all of y supplies as I want to use them. I am painting, drawing inking, creating, getting ideas. I feel like I am cheating on learning a fine art-but II am fine with being a mixed media artist for myself...if this is my happy place, then so be it. I enjoy your videos very much and found a way to buy stamps and stencils that are affordable for me. That part was really holding me back! I have to wait weeks to get them, but I can get them! I am happy and cannot wait to rub white gesso on my pages with my fingers! I can study watercolor all while I journal, and I will continue to improve my skills because my paints are out and my brushes are wet!

Thank you so much for this very informative video. I have all the supplies and it has been important to me to title my journal book. I have struggled with a clever title and you solved this for me. I am going to title my first journal, "Art Therapy". It suits me perfectly and all the reasons why I began in the first place. Thank you for the inspiration. I am a devoted fan.

Will definitely give it a try, I will push myself to start, as everyone else says, it's that first step that we all are hesitate with. Looking forward to future videos would love one as a step by step tutorial/class that we could work along just so we are using right products and doing it correctly.Thank you!!!
