Simon has mentioned that with the stencils. Put them on the mat reversed so that side of the stencil with that matte side is face up and not on the grip mat and it won't pull that off

Oh Mary… your daughter has a great voice and wonderful presentation skills. Her inflection goes up and down appropriately as she demonstrates and explains what she is doing. Her nails look wonderful. I can’t trim my nails with a nail clipper. She is quite the pro.

These are all so cute, but I agree, that I Love You card is amazing! I love the pink and brown. I've started playing with mixed media because it's teaching me not to stress over being perfect and to embrace imperfections. I agree with Alyson. Mixed media does "teaching me not to stress". This artist "works" at fine art and "plays" (to the max) with mixed media for cards. This media is joyful. Can combine fine art talents with just "jumping in" with everything. Sitting back to SEE what transpires from a lot of different techniques, Different mediums, some of which you might not traditionally put together - yet they come out beautiful. Not always - but mostly :) Enjoyed you with my coffee. Many smiles because of you - just being you! Thanks Mary - wonderful.

Somehow I started doing mixed media without really knowing it was what I was doing years ago. I just like using a lot of different products and techniques. Who knew? I like the heart card very much. I do love a scripty cover stamp. Your cards came out great. See, you're a natural!

Hey Mary, have you seen a crafter on RUclips called NB cards? She created a smoosher for this type of in smooshing and it gets, in my opinion better results. The smoosher is created with a zip baggie of sorts and some crumpled up paper towel. Check it out. She uses the ink pads you used and other dye based with a spritz of water but her tool helps you create better smooshed backgrounds. Just my opinion.

Referring to my previous comment, I just saw it again in one of his videos, you place the glossy side down onto the sticky mat. I think that will help with your residue problem.

noticed a problem with the glue gun myself, yesterday. This is what I found. I was storing it upright, in it's box. Because I thought that would be best to keep it from getting dried glue from forming around the opening.
Well, I then had no ability to squeeze the glue out.
I thought about it for a bit and then stored as though it was in the silicone holster. I had no problem with dried glue nor with glue not being able to be squeezed out.

Gorgeous cards especially the text background one!! With Simon Hurley stencils you need to use the glossy side of the stencil against the sticky side of the mat otherwise it pulls off the coating. That is what happened with yours I suspect but I’m not positive. I write sticky notes to his stencils so I don’t forget which side to use.

Would love to see all your links. However, on my iPhone 12 the Brush Pen class link is right next to the “more”,,, and no matter how I try I can’t activate the “more”. It activates the brush pen link every time LOL. I even used a stylus. But no worries! Your cards are absolutely adorable!!!! I feel more confident in trying mixed media now. Thank you so much!!!!!

Apparently with the stencils, one side is shinier than the other, and so one side won't leave the residue like it did on your mat. Unfortunately I cannot remember at the moment, which side is best to put down on the mat. I'm not 100% sure about this, as I didn't take much notice as it doesn't effect me, but I think I heard Simon Hurley mention that on a couple of his videos.
Very nice cards! Question - when smooshing your ink pads, what kind of "paper" are you using on the clipboard?
The paper I'm using for my card is Watercolor cardstock, I believe specifically from Arteza. But if you mean the white mat I have on the clipboard that is a replacement craft mat for the rim Holtz glass media mat

Great idea, I will definitely try that next time, cause even when I let it fully dry it still puffs up a bit, which don't get me wrong is a great affect but might not be what I want in that moment.
