I am a mechanical engineer with over 35 years experience. I enjoy your videos because they are not too clinical and perfect. They reflect how theory and practice don't always meet perfectly. Disappointing that you had to hacksaw the handle apart but that is how it is sometimes. Keep up the good work.

But the handle upgrade/brass bushing was a substantial improvement. I only wished for a true spinning grinding wheel without all the run out.

I have one of these grinders! Is in better condition than what you started with, but missing the guide that goes around the wheel unfortunately :/ I was uncertain about dismantling and not being able to get it back together but after seeing your excellent restoration, it has given me confidence I can do it. Thanks!

Great job! I would've replaced that grinder stone because it's very imbalanced.
A quick dressing should sort that. It doesn’t look too far off.
Agree that this was a beautiful restoration. I also would have dressed the wheel. I keep a little silicon carbide dressing stick next to my bench grinder at all times.

Wenn der Schleifstein getauscht wird, dann ist es exzellente Arbeit. Weil die Scheibe das Herzstück der Maschine ist.
Alles drum herum sieht zwar super aus, dient aber nur um die Scheibe anzutreiben..

Very good restoration, very much impressed. Now I need to restore my three hand grinders, and I will follow your techniques. Thank you for sharing.
There are lots of restoration videos out there but I find My mechanics, Tysy tube, odd tinkering, and mine Mekaniker as the most meticulous restoration channels ever. They make the restorations as good as possible, high-end finish better than the pristine condition of the given item, fresh from factory.

Such a great job. I see some guys that try to do this kind of work but cut corners and their projects don't even come close. This looks brand new, I just wish you would have replaced that grinding wheel. Other than that you do phenomenal work. Now I'm going to check out your other videos.
