Each of the girls somewhat feel like they represent a different time of day in Summer - Mai Tai is the morning, before it gets to hot, and you're taking walks and enjoying the general atmosphere of a beach. Margaritta feels more like the afternoon, spending time in the water and trying to not get sunburnt, while Chi Chi feels like the calm evenings, when everything is winding down after a busy and fun-filled day.
Chi chi is like before the sun sets and its full of blues and pinks- so i cant wait to see if she makes a doll thats kinda "night time" themed
They really do! Chi chi even has more nightly colors while the other two more day time colors.
Honestly to me Chi Chi feels more like the nightlife, all the clubs and bars along the beach where you'll actually get to drink their namesake drinks xD

Of course Tamara's hair counts. Box cake mix still makes cake. It doesn't have to be 100% handmade to count. Everyone needs help sometimes and being able to use a pre-braided hair makes it more accessible to someone with low hand dexterity who might not be able to braid at this scale. Chi Chi is so cute! I love this whole trio.

She is loving equally by putting in effort for each doll. Therefore, since this video is about a black doll, she has expressed love for black women.
I love how all three dolls are clearly different ages. Like, Chi Chi is a rebellious 16 year old, Mai Tai is her older, early to mid 20s sister, and Margarita is their 40-something rich aunt taking them on a summer beach getaway while Chi Chi is on summer break. I love these three so much!
I'd say Mai Tai is the teenager on summer break, Chi Chi's the 20 yr, and Margarita's in her 30's!

The handwoven bag is CRAZY, not to mention giving chi chi a real afro so you can then braid her hair for real. The dedication on display was so captivating.

@@mooocow99it depends but most people around me use caps or do a bun for their braids so it doesn’t get wet. Long braids can already be heavy so aren’t gonna want them to get in the water.

Headcanon where Margarita is an older woman who used to be a model but now owns and manages a beach resort on a tropical island. Mai Tai and Chi-Chi are her daughters that visit her since their parents are divorced (amicably). The cutest little family, I love them
i can highly recommend using alcohol markers in the joint areas! They stain the plastic in a way that doesnt just rub off. You can still paint the rest with acrylics, but the areas where the paint chips off aren´t that noticeable then ^^

@@cl3fable479Can attest, I use it all the time! It obviously won’t *cover* a colour, but if you have a light coloured doll or just want to tint something a little closer to the right colour, it works *so* well :D
We've seen Dollightful use soft pastels to stain the plastic before (Umbreon) but I wonder if this method would work better/faster? 👀

Straight up, this doll is actually me. Like I have that same hair color (and box braids), skin color, and eye color (albeitit darker). That thumbnail actually jumpscared me cause I was looking at a doll version of myself. When you were doing the hair, I was laughing the entire time as I kept saying "that's my hair. That's actually the hair color I have except I have some green." I was screaming when you curled the ends!

I'm white so I don't know a ton about braids but ya'lls hair is so beautiful! This video was also fun for me bc I learned some new stuff about a hair type different than my own :) one of the reasons I super love Dollightful is because she has all sorts of different skin tones, hair types, and cultures represented in her creations and also does her research.

@@moonsigil It's not backhanded, I'm just usually someone who likes the concept art more. She makes it, it's a compliment to her skills, I'm just someone who finds the character design generally more appealing than the dolls.
Her hair colours are absolutely gorgeous! They really give “vibrant summer” without super heavily leaning into the “pink, green, yellow” colour scheme that I usually see on summer characters.
Braids are also our go to summer hair in the black community too. You should do passion twist next. I love how dollightful is exploring black hair. There are so many styles to explore and the attention/love really warms my heart.

I love the head cannon tiki bar idea that a fellow commenter mentioned! But I’d like to think that as well as running the tiki bar, they each have their own beach like activities they enjoy!
Chi Chi seems like she’d enjoy the ocean more than the other two (perhaps it’s the blue color palette and her more practical looking swimsuit haha!) and would do everything from swimming, surfing, and boogie boarding! She’d also life guard part time!
Mai Tai would love beach volleyball and lounging in the sun with a good book and getting a good tan. The other two ladies would have to constantly remind her to come out from the sun and into the shade for protection because she often forgets and just enjoys the warmth it brings!
Margarita is a social flirt and knows all of the regulars. She watches out for a lot of women on the beach who may have creeps looking after them and she intimidates the creeps away. She’s often considered the sage of the beach, sipping on margaritas and offering wisdom to whoever she strikes up and conversation with and she has lots of admirers!

My mother is from Brazil but moved to the US as an adult, and my kids are white in a super white area.
