This video draws you into a very strange and beautiful world. This is not the description my wife would use for a world of rust, wood shavings, oily rags, old bits of cardboard, jars of dirty vinegar etc. An outstanding video.
When I saw your notification with the word “ANTIQUE” saw in it, all things stopped until I viewed the video, then I saw the antique saw and I knew instantly it was truly an antique by the scribing nib on the back of the blade, there are not many true antique saws left any more and then to see one restored by an artisan such as yourself young man, it is truly a treat. Thanks for the video.
Dear OldHand, some shots show that vintage posters related to different types of craft hang on the walls of your workshop. Could you tell me where on the Internet I can download such vintage posters? Maybe there are some specialized resources on which such posters are in large quantities and in high quality?@@byOldHand
I’ve restored a few of my old tools & have a cupboard full of others waiting, this is superb work, very satisfying. Your patience, kindness & positivity also shines through your responses to comments! Thank you from Simon in UK
As a hand tool user, restorer and collector, I too find your videos a delight. On occasion, if I can’t sleep… I’ve played one of your restorations, just the sound track in the dark, and the familiar clear sounds of filing, rasping, sanding and the tap tap of a hammer, with the echo of footsteps, the gurgle of coffee, your company of gulls and the background chatter helps me drift away into sleep, free from the worries of the world. Your lovely wife bringing fruits was an unexpected smile in this one! With gratitude for the time you invest in your sharing…
Another in a long line of fine and pleasing restorations! I enjoyed watching the transformation from a tired and slightly bent old tool in to an renewed and aesthetically elevated item of beauty and function. Well done Sir!

Absolutely mesmerizing top to bottom. I clicked on the thumbnail just to keep the video on the back, as white noise and I was totally unbable to look away from the screen every single second of this visual art piece. You're one of my favourite restorers here. Keep on and congrats from Spain.
I must admit, I really enjoy your channel. Your workmanship is incredible and very inspirational, even to a 73 year old with cancer and multiple illnesses. By the way, I also like Milonga but my first love is Tango de Salon. Gracie E ciao!
Brian thank you, you are so kind. I'm glad you are having good time with my stories. I hope you are going to he healthy as soon as possible. Great to see you here. Ps; I'm deeply in love with the tango orchestra "Tipica Victor"
Yes, Tipica Victor, “Una Vez” with Ortega del Certo, fantastic. My favourites are Alfredo de Angelis, with Carlos Dante and Miguel Calo, with Raoul Iriate. A lovely tango by Carlo Buti is “ Chitarra Romana.” Buenas noches, buenos sueños y buenos tangos.
Yes, it most certainly is. And even better to dance it!! My wife and I have danced it the length and breadth of Argentina, as well as the U.K. any time you wish to chat about it, I am at your disposal, on WhatsApp or Messenger. We reduced my Spanish teacher, a Peruvian lady, to tears when we danced “ Donde estás corazón” by Fresedo, canta Hector Pacheco, she was so moved by the lyrics and, I hope, the dancing. For now, haste luego.
@@brianmccabe3026 Osvaldo Fresedo, excellent ! Every time I listen to his songs, black and white film frames form in my eyes. Songs made with great feeling. Thank you for sharing your memories with me. now I will work by listening to Fresedo -Sueño Azul. Thank you for reminding me of this amazing composer right now.

I’ve just discovered (and subscribed to!) your channel. I’m a musician, and in every single thing I see (and hear) here, there is astonishing, beautiful music. Watching each of these is a little meditation on how we pass time, how we see, how we experience. Thank you so much for these wonderful insights into how creativity is one of the most valuable things about our humanity. Blessings be yours!
thank you very much my dear friend. İt is great to hear them from an atrist like you. is it possible to listen to yout music ? I would love to listen...
This is the first of your videos I've seen. I was impressed with it enough to post it on my FaceBot (as I call it) page under my Nom d'Blog: Myron J. Poltroonian. Here's what I said about it: This is one of the finest antique handsaw restoration video's I've ever seen. There's no verbal instructions at all, just the sound of the work being done and almost no captioning as well. Yet this is done in such a very clear and concise manner that even if you've never picked up a hand tool before you'll have an idea as to what he's doing and why. Now, you may ask, "Why would I ever even want to watch this video about something i'm not even remotely interested in?" Well, when you see how its video-graphed, it has a cinematic quality that is far above and beyond the typical cluttered (or pristine) workshop setting. In fact, its more like old world craftsmanship meets art deco, art nouveau and a cat in a very captivating way. As not only the former Guitar Doctor lo these many moons ago, but also as the Public Information Office photographer when I was stationed in West Germany many moons before that, I truly appreciate not only the mans talents, but his visual artistry as well. Enjoy: 😎🎸🥃
