#restoration #asmr Hello my dear friends. It's great to see you here again. This story of mine is about a retro, vintage lamp. I have been looking for a contortionist lamp suitable for my lathe and workshop for a long time, and of course I was looking for a vintage or antique lamp. Orange and green, which are considered retro, are two of my favorite colors. That's why I chose this one among the lamps given to me as a gift. This lamp was used on a lathe in another workshop for many years. I worked to achieve a look that bears the traces of the past and fits my workshop. I achieved a result with my aesthetic perception and beauty philosophy, by prioritizing functionality as in my usual works. We will watch together many craft works and I want to leave this trace here, just as this craftsman spent his few days in the workshop. I do not record how-to videos. If you have any questions, please ask, I am always happy to answer. Also share your thoughts and different approaches, I would love to listen. I hope this work will be a good accompaniment to your time while drinking your coffee or a glass of whiskey. I am happy to share with you this work in which I have lived the four seasons of my life, and I dedicate this work to my beloved nature and animals. Deepest greetings from me, my cat co-workers and singing seagulls to all of you. byOldHand. 1st time watcher...Thank you for NOT media blasting, powder coating, and replacing every part and calling it a restoration. You cleaned it, fixed it, and reassembled it. Perfect.
As always, a wonderful restoration. I love watching you work and, as a cat person myself, I enjoy your little helpers. I really like watching your videos and always try to learn new things from them.
Anyone else get "vampire meets tool restorer vibes" from these videos? I imagine an old tool maker being transformed into a vampire in the 1700s. Instead of traveling the world, feeding on the blood of his victims, he restores things.. his workshop still unchanged after centuries. Such patience and slow deliberate movements can only come from the hands of an immortal doomed to restore things for eternity.
Your meticulous work on this lamp has created a beautiful item for your wonderful workshop. The fact that you rarely use any power tools is amazing and gives your videos a relaxing calming atmosphere. Wonderful to see you again buddy. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Awesome! I was given a few similar but newer and not that nice lamps when i was picking up the "new" late for my home workshop, i think some of them would come in handy as mahine lamps like this.
Excellent restoration, done as it needed to be, I see quality control was on the job again, and two of them, they looked pretty intense, in fact, it sounded like I heard one them running their contentment motors (purring) during the restoration, not sure though, might have been something else coming thru the sound, but it wouldn’t have surprised me though, it was a nice job. Thanks for the video, appreciate your time and effort.
So much to say and so little time. Your workshop "foreman" certainly was eyeing the quality of what you were putting into your new piece!!! Seems they all have an idea of what should be done and love watching you do it!! I know I am guilty of that as well. I love Art Deco, Retro and 1890's styles. Eclectic is best as you don't get bored with using or looking at the same thing all the time. Wonderful restoration and so happy to see you post a new piece. :)
I used to have one of these lamps when I was younger! Amazing video, amazing restoration, and the cat foreman inspecting your work was just hilarious ;)

Dear friend thank you for your opinion. Any kind of way is possible. Sure in that way would be beautiful too. I just want that to seem old. nice to see you here
Another wonderful restoration completed, meaning yet another useful item of beauty saved. I am beginning to notice that you have one very keen to please and learn apprentice, but sadly you also have a lazy, disinterested one too. I should take the black and white apprentice on full time, as they have such nimble paws, and such a keenness to learn. The other is perhaps more interested in nature? Until next time…👍🏻😻😻
You do a wonderful job of creating an atmosphere. This is directorial talent. It is curious that the electrical plug without grounding that you used is completely identical to the Soviet one from about the seventies of the last century. I have probably a dozen or two of these in my garage, in boxes of old junk. Actually, the lamp itself differs from the Soviet one of that period only in the different design of the lamp socket.
My favorite RUclips channel, I'm so pleased that you didn't repaint the lamp, made me laugh out loud when you just gently moved your cats tail to carry on working ❤

Önceki yıl aynısının yeşilinden restore etmiştim. Ama sizinki kadar şanslı değildi, yaylar pastan dolayı çıtır çıtır kırılıyordu, Gövde parçalarını pastan kurtarmak için uzun süre eğelemem gerekti, sirke kalın pas tabakasını çözmeyi başaramıyordu. Masaya sabitleyebilmek için ahşaptan bağlantı aparatı yapmıştım.
Appreciate the idea of keeping peeling paint parts with the bluing method. Beautiful lamp with orange color atmosphere, what a classical painting visual! Thank you very much!
I love your channel and this mysterious place. Took some research, but I found where it is and it´s history. I think it could be of intereset of the viewers. "Kurşunlu Inn in Karaköy, Istanbul attracts those who see it with its magnificence and mysteries. The historical building, also known as Rüstem Pasha Inn because it belonged to the Rüstem Pasha Foundation during the Ottoman period, bears the permanent traces of the Genoese, Byzantine and Ottoman times. Most of the lower floor of the two-storey inn is the ruins of the Saint Michele Cathedral, built by the Genoese in the 1200s. The Byzantines also made some additions and repairs. The upper floor was built as a caravanserai between 1544 and 1550 by Mimar Sinan, who created the most important architectural structures in human history. One of the obstacles to the repair of the Kurşunlu Inn, located in Karaköy Thursday Market, is that it does not belong to the Foundations but is private property. The inn, which is difficult to notice from the outside despite its size because it is surrounded by concrete buildings, mainly contains hardware stores and workshops. You have excellent taste in literature, Nikos Kazantzakis was an excellent author. A great preservation of a beautiful lamp, though not quite as beautiful as your companion or the area where you live. I would like to visit one day, so I could see the many historical landmarks. I'd also like to see if, "the moonlight on the Bosphorus is irresistible", as a great Cold War spy once described it.
Thank you dear friend, your good words made my day. Zorba is one of my favorite novel and I'm collecting any kind of that in any language. Zorba's way of life is inspring. Also the movie is excellent (Anthony Quinn) I live in Istanbul and my workshop is in a historical Cathedral.

Peter thank you very much dear friend. That is walnut root. I had that from my last video (London pattern chisel) That is absolutely perfect scent. Also i put in it some cinnemon too
Any idea when this was made. I had one, new, back in the day, and yes, it was orange. I had a red one as well. At the time, they were all over the place in all nine basic colors, perhaps more. Mine were made in the late 1970's. Yours looks like it might have been a little order, say, early to mid 1970's, perhaps late 1960's?
watching your videos is calm- bringing, peaceful atmosphere is just hypnotic. Your videos bring traces of old good England, but the place obviously is not there. It is part of that spirit, to imagine where, in reality, is...

Could I ask you what it is you burn ? I presume it gives of a fragrance, looks very relaxing in
the workshop. 😊
I think the same. 1960-70's . Have a great week dear friend
The lamp looks amazing and its in a lovely color too. can I ask what wristwatch you are wearing? it looks very fancy.
Mark thank you very much dear friend. That is a Vintage Armani. I might got that 15-20 years ago. Have great weekend

watching your videos is calm- bringing, peaceful atmosphere is just hypnotic. Your videos bring traces of old good England, but the place obviously is not there. It is part of that spirit, to imagine where, in reality, is...
Thank you very much dear friend. Great to hear this. My workshop is in a historical Cathedral made by Genoese
The Cat Inspectors approved of your work.
