I think it is so important to preserve our English heritage to remind us of the high standards that we can aspire to.
We totally agree, in fact, all heritage, because some of the beauty in our past is well worth preserving, and it should inspire us in the future.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and leave a comment.
All the best,
Gary & Janis
A wonderful video. Thank you.
Alex,
Thanks so much, so glad you liked the video.
And thanks for taking the time to comment,
All the best,

My favourite house in England.
Wow Tim, and there's some pretty stiff competition out there. What is it you particularly like about Ightham Mote?
Hello once again, and thank you for this very nice tour. As a Medieval Historian, I visited here a number of times, mostly focusing on aspects of the early phases of construction. Ightham Mote is heavily restored though, together with more recent additions, but the view inside the courtyard still retains it`s Medieval atmosphere, as does the early chapel :)
Well done, a jolly nice walk around this intriguing property !
🙏 Thanks so sir, I perhaps should have been clear of how close it came to being demolished. So pleased, and it's so important, it didn't
@@OurWorldForYou Indeed, and you are entirely correct. Unfortunately, around the country ' saving 'often means overenthusiastic restoration and refurbishment, in many ways another kind of destruction :(
Thanks once again !
Thanks, next week's video should be interesting too - A castle that's not a castle (like so many of them), and another of our National Trust collection.
Dear Garry and Janis, Another jewel in the crown, I visited in the early 70s, it brought back memories yet again, did you see any peacocks ? they were there at that time, also I watched the Ightham village video and you could include the singer Peter Skellern, I met him at a Christmas party and we spoke about Ightham, he also lived in the village, could you also list the music you have included in each video, fabulous as usual, more please ....take care
Linda,
No peacocks that we could remember; we do need to return if only to capture Ightham Mote in the sunshine; I'll keep a look out and perhaps ask.
Never knew that about Peter Skellern; how interesting. Ightham must be a great little place to live in if you are seeking peace & quiet.
I'll add the playlist for my videos in the description going forward. (I may also add them retrospectively too, it's just that's a bit of work)
The world and Wimbledon conspired against me finishing a video for last Saturday, so hopefully I can complete it and release it for this Saturday.
Thanks as always; take care,
Gary & Janis
Hope you enjoy the next visit to Ightham, There were quite a few people the day I visited back in the 70s, I have a photo of a peacock by the mote fanning his tail, such a spectacular sight
How lovely 💚🌄
🙏 Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked it. 😍
Hi both, very smooth shots. The house is nearly as grand as ours although our moat isn't as big.
🙏 Thanks guys, that's Janis on the Osmo Pocket - love that piece of kit. An I thought your moat was much bigger - it could be with all that rain you get in Wales 😊. Enjoyed your trip to London? We need to get back up to 'The Smoke' sometime soon, been way too long for us. Although for the time being it's English country houses and the coastline I think 😎
