Mate I'm so jealous you got your car already and what a honour to be the same car club as you. I was eyeing a Fiesta ST 1.5 years ago and watched tons of your videos figuring out how to change the rear indicator lights to LED like you did haha. I couldn't be more excited to see you got your hands on a GR Yaris! Really look forward to what you can do to your car before mine arrives in the summer!

I’ll give you a conclusive answer once it’s run in ;) I can tell you now that the Yaris is more reliable from a fun perspective. You can hoon this thing in literally any weather. The fiesta was a little more picky about the conditions.
@@JBCTR You definitely have an all weather weapon there lad! I’ve only seen a tuning box on one so far but I bet there’s a fair bit in the pipeline. Get some bloody miles on it!! 🤣👍🏻
The waiting list is now for 2023 but luckily enough I have managed to get an order in for a new Black GR Yaris since someone decided to cancel their order. I do like the Pearl White colour variant but I couldn't wait.
I'm really looking forward to it going to be an amazing experience.

Congrats. I hope you enjoy it. Intrigued by the high set seat, whether you get on with it, and if you plan to drop it. Have fun!
It's not actually too bad. Just one of its quirks. You forget about it as soon as you get moving. The seating position also makes the distance between the rear view mirror and the infotainment screen less of an issue too as you can see straight through. I can see that being an issue if the seat was lower. We'll see :)

I mean it is, but the top end Fiesta's are now pushing 28k and there's a whole lot more kit in this. From that perspective, it almost looks like good value!

Yup, that's on the cards. There's a picture of the roof unwrapped and clear coated at 03:41 in the video. I need to do some research in to it to see if I can do it at home, or if its definitely a professional jobby.

Thanks mate! Yup, the GR is it actually that much more expensive than the premium Fiesta ST’s. It’s a cracking car and I would recommend both. The jump from an ST-line X to a GR is quite considerable though.

PS Overall still love the car and perfect imperfections I think you said is spot on. Things will annoy you but who cares when your having fun in a 200KW pocket rocket.😎

I got a Demo with just over 1000km on the clock but I payed full price not thd 40K aus deal that was going over here.
PS I almost got it in black but Red was cheaper.

Congratulations on your new car Jonny! Regarding the carbon wrap they placed above the roof made out of real carbon fibre - I've seen BMW E92 M3s and V10 M6s that had their carbon roofs changing colour to a yellowy green tinge effect, as they get exposed to the sun. Perhaps thats why Toyota have placed a carbon wrap above it. You might be able to peal the carbon wrap off and place some form of protected film that still lets you see the real deal underneath.
Yup, I think the wrap was the cheapest way of protecting it. I'd love to have a clear protectant on it. A lacquer perhaps. We'll see.

Love it! Could you take the carbon wrap off the roof and replace it with something clear to protect it? Chopped carbon looks so cool in my humble opinion

As will all Asian cars, the spares pricing will be adjusted after the warranty period. So in 4-5 years, one of those wheels would be maybe 550 pounds a piece.

Totally agree with your analogy, Fiesta RS. What else is there that is fiesta size with near 300bhp , 4 wheel drive and handles like a fiesta. I genuinely feel that Ford has dropped a clanger by not doing the RS. Sooo, fast forward 3yrs to 2024 and the new Fiesta RS. That's my thoughts anyways going by the popularity of this car. Amazing that a Toyota City car has now stolen the best hot hatch crown from ford ;)

Yeah they will, look at other cars that made it to the council estate, nearly cried seeing an e46 m in the hood the other day, thankfully they have bottomed and are rising. I'm hoping 24k to 25k in three years when pcp ends and dreamers have to give back......

Bit jelly but I just picked up my ST Edition and I love it. I would definitely consider this car if it was below 30k for the top model. I cant wait to see what people do with the exhausts on these things, enjoy iy mate. How long is the suggested run in for one of these?
Run in is 621 miles. Seems very specific, but it converts to 1000km so I'm sure that's where the figure comes from!

I will stick with my ST3 with rear wiper ,space saver and Revo stage 3.Real world driving.

At last audi s1 as competition...I thought s1 ad been short changed with 4 instead of 5 cylinders...but 3 cylinders..w0w!
3 cylinder engines are surprisingly characterful. The Fiesta ST engine was damn good. The engine in this little GR Yaris seems to have even more character!

Man, I am Ford RS fan, always wanted a modern Fiesta RS and.... Toyota delivered. So glad I bought GR Yaris - too bad it makes my Focus RS mk3 feel like a Transit tho lol

Why did tou choose to buy another small hot hatch, instead of moving for example to a focus st/rs?
I don't really need a bigger car and I actually like the smaller cars from a drivers perspective. They're lighter, smaller (obvs) and more nimble as a result. That tends to make them more fun on UK roads :)
Yaris seems like a good car but would make a terrible daily which is what a hot hatch should be. It’s too special to want to use it for commuting, going shopping in, gym etc. Then you start thinking there are better cars as weekend toys so not sure where it fits

After the Fiesta ST 2006 I also waited for many years for a Fiesta RS... but it never came ..and will never come...so after the 2014 Fiesta ST-2 I bought a 2017 Focus RS(great car!) and recently the Gr yaris and love it! (It is kind of the fiesta RS that many people waited for)
Will get it tuned in 2 days so finally no more speed-limiter at 230kph !!
Question. Is is worth £10k more over Fiesta ST? I doubt
@@StereotypedFilms So you never drove the GR Yaris because then you would have known that the 230kph can be reached in 5th gear then shifting to 6th gear will do nothing. So yes in this car it is a must and yes on the autobahn we do 200+kph regularly.

Looks great, be interested to see if it offers the same fun factor as the ST long term. 4wd although offers amazing traction and off the line speed can be a bit dull imo
I agree. I struggled to find a car that had the fun factor of the ST. The plucky little Yaris seems to satisfy my hunger for fun, even with the AWD!

There's one thing i see and if anybody pays attention ya'll will see it too. Maybe the GR Yaris has more HP than the Fiesta ST... and 4x4 etc etc. But I think the Fiesta is an more playful and satisfying car overall ... In all of your Fiesta ST videos i saw you grinning all the time when driving it... I say it again! All the time bro! You where really proud to be an ST owner.
With the GR Yaris your face is looking like: I like this car but... it's less than expected.
So I have an request! Would you do an compare video about the GR Yaris vs Fiesta ST about daily driving, (exhaust) sound, playfulness etc etc.
We all know the difference in HP and FWD vs 4x4 (bla bla bla irrelevant). I know they are two different cars.. but as an Fiesta ST 2020 owner i'm curious about your opinion about the nr. 1 and nr. 2 in the B segment performance cars.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is actually my next video. Spoiler alert - The fiesta is a much better daily. The Yaris creams it for driving fun though. The reason for the lesser smile in the Yaris is simply because I can’t drive it hard yet. Another 100 miles to go and I can let her rip 😎 even so, it’s already proving to be very playful. The only AWD system I’ve driven (so far) that doesn’t sap the fun out of driving.
The GR is a totally different animal to a Fiesta - they should not even be compared
Great video but I don’t know why reviewers always have to mention negatives, no car is perfect but for your typical B road this comes pretty close.
Wouldnt really be a good and objective review if they were only mentioning the positives.
You can remove the roof wrap and get an expensive coating, or have it re-wrapped cheaply. No one wants to pay for that from the dealership.
I think that’ll be the plan long term 😎
Mmm, who's a lucky boy ?, I ran Toyota swb rav 4's with permanent 4wd for 15 yrs, nowt wrong with Toyota's, 'cept the price of parts maybe. I'm sticking with my mk8 St for the mo, but will watch with interest and envy. 👍

A 6 month old ST is now 18k, a 6 month old GR is 36k - the Fiesta has lost 6k, the GR increased by 2k. Wait list now late 2022. Anyone considering one will have a very long wait or be paying over list for it. Demand is mega 😎
Once they flood the market the price will fall. It's a great car but too expensive

@@fuzzy5987 atleast the GR will retain some value, particularly in the short term, which is quite unusual these days. The Fiesta's residual values are poor - I wonder why 🤔

U can tune these on stock engine 450hp but can’t tune these with there own ecu u have to get some other ecu bec Toyota done something to them so u can’t tune these car like others cars
