    You’ll forget all about those little gripes once you’ve run it in. When I get in mine I just hold the lane assist button down which turns it off and wait for it to warm up. Then just enjoy the driving experience. What an amazing car they are. Enjoy 👍🏼 oh and yes the oil temp

      Thanks - I'll have another look around for that pesky oil temp... You are right. They are most definitely small gripes and for me, this car isn't a daily. As you say, they pale into insignificance once you get the thing moving! Thanks for watching.

      Not gonna lie I thought I’d hate the lane assist but it’s actually great for regular driving, when you switch the car on it’s only the beeps/display, but I (shock horror) tend to turn the steering assist on too! I don’t really find it overbearing around town.
      I do long press to shut it up totally for ‘spirited’ driving.

      Not quite true... From an interior perspective, the MK8 was exciting as it was a massive step up from the MK7. The GR Yaris however has few options on the interior. When you get the cars rolling, the GR Yaris absolutely blows the ST out the water. We've not yet got to the videos on that 🤪

      @@swampdonkeyofdoom For me I'm totally delighted mate.
      Was apprehensive of less aural enticement and less comfort on long journeys/less options spec which delayed my order a few more weeks, translating to a few months further wait.
      Due to the above points and 100's of hours of video reviews research, I actually went for the not so popular standard car but with the Convenience pack extras!
      It's phenomenal and I'm actually not missing the N's brilliant bimodal exhaust either. Internal sound and turbo noise externally when windows are down is good enough for me alongside the incredible grip/real world usable performance!
      No more wheelspin for the "other" 9 months of the year in uk when it's not dry and warm, just all year round grip, it's just as good dry performance, arguably better, and night and day when wet, damp, cold and greasy!
      The standard car is more than enough for road use only, convenience if you appreciate the many useful optional extras added and Circuit if you are favouring some oversteer dynamics with esc disabled and the torsens helping to instigate it and then working with it, especially for trackday use.
      Driven the circuit pack 5 times now, including a direct back to back with mine. Esc always on. Wasn't until the 5th drive of about 5 hours, courtesy car while mine had its 1st service, that I managed to feel the torsen at the front a few times and that was by really exaggerating turning angle on full boost! It actually felt a little fake, compared to the N's brilliant e-diff in the dry at least, very tight pull on driving wheels but imo a little harsh on the steering wheel, needing corrections to straighten up. I'm sure it's utterly brilliant when used to it and where you'll really notice it when properly on it at 8 tenths or more driving and particularly when esc is disabled and/or on a track, fast gravel.
      Driven as a daily like me, I much prefer the Convenience pack spec.
      There's no "better" spec, it's what suits the owner/driver!

      Had Goodyear Eagle f1 asymmetric 5's put on and they are incredible!!
      The pz4's on my i30N were totally shite unless warm and dry. I replaced with michelin ps4s's which helped significantly but didn't eliminate the wheelspin and worse, that bloody annoying bunny hopping from standstill if remotely damp lol...
      Looking back, I actually wish I'd tried the A5's. They have firmer sidewalls to the ps4s's and better steering feel imo. 👍

I’m really torn just now, I absolutely love the i30N to drive, the sound is amazing which there isn’t much of from anyone other cars these days, also the dual clutch auto gearbox is brilliant but for some reason I just seem to prefer small hatchbacks, and especially coming from the mk8 fiesta st aswell previously. I love the small and wide look of the yaris, and it really does stand out from the crowd. And as you said, the power in the i30N can’t even get put to use 75% of the year in the. UK (Im in scotland, even worse) Which makes me think the yaris would be perfect all year round and could enjoy the power whenever. And watching people rally them in the snow etc. looks like great fun😂 but then again with how highly equipped my i30N spec wise is I’m not sure how id feel about going to the yaris. But at the end of the day I only really care about how the car performs on the road and how it looks. Would be nice to own a homologation special which you won’t see many of, and have a road going rally car.

      @@JBCTR This is why I've ordered the Convenience pack after weeks of debating. It makes the many compromises of the GR just about acceptable lol. Especially if going to be a daily.
      I Don't need rip off wheels or red callipers that I don't even like, dunlops can be changed to likely Goodyear f1 supersport, suspension will be slightly more road biased and lsd's irrelevant for my needs as a road daily and totally irrelevant unless turning off esc anyhow. Their main party trick is to continue momentum when drifting, (Powersliding).
      Left esc on in my 3 circuit pack test drives and will be doing so for mine on the road, unless caught in the snow!
      Circuit pack is for people driving it constantly with esc off and or regular track days or other loose conditions. Most buying it for the road only, will get virtually the same from the base model and save 3.5K. Convenience pack extra cost is justified in all the real world usable extras.

    The engines are dyno’d and run in at the factory on a test bench, same as any new car from any manufacturer now. You really don’t need to worry about cruising in it!
    They don’t risk warranty claims from leaving customers to try to follow vague instructions on how to do it.

    • @JBCTR
      @JBCTR  3 года назад +2

      There are 60 million cars produced each year. Do you believe that every one of those is dyno'd and run in at the factory? Can you imagine the fuel cost? The maintenance cost of the dyno from running in 60 million cars? :O Plus, the run in period is written in the owners manual so I'll follow it just in case :D

    • @dodo19923
      @dodo19923 Год назад

      @@JBCTR There aren't 60 million performance based cars built every year though. Run in periods are advised to follow but not necessary these days due to higher tolerances etc. It's advised in the booklet to cover the manufacturers arse if something goes wrong.
      Side note: The infotainment can be upgraded to different screens (i think a kenwood 10" floating screen fits) giving wireless carplay and all the trimmings. Iirc it's only a service menu you lose access to but can be got at through the OBD anyway. Speakers are meh but fixable. Wheels are undersized but an easy fix. Rear view hangs too low but is an easy fix with a bracket.
      I kind of like that Toyota have kept it simple considering how over the top cars are these days with tech to a point you need a Computer engineering degree to to know what you're doing. A few fairly simple mods turn a decent car into a great one.
