I’m here in 2024 and this is one of the best, most honest and practical videos I’ve seen on freelance time management… thank you
Thanks for watching. Really glad you found this helpful!
Great channel you've got going on!
I'm a filmmaker from Portugal and I'm striving to quit my job and go full-time with the filmmaking thing.
Keep it up!
Thank you Vitor, I wish you luck in taking the leap. It's scary but so worth it if it works out.
I´m just starting out as a freelancer. This video was really helpful, thank you so much! New sub :)
Thanks for watching! Awesome to hear that you are starting your journey into freelance, happy to help!
Hey thank you so much for sharing your methods! A new freelance animator here. I agree sometimes I it’s just so hard to start a thing, but once you get into it, even unrelentingly, things start rolling. Also I agree it’s important to point out the “uncontrollable” nature to creative works. Sometimes an idea you just can’t force it to happen within a set timeline. I’ve never used google calendar before actually, imma go ahead and try it out. It’s great to see how you resort to moving tasks around sometimes, I think that’s a great strategy to kind of kill up the chunks of working time, and towards feeling productive, which is key to stay motivated.
Thanks for watching Wang, appreciate your comment. Glad to hear you took something from the video. Depending on how complex your task list is, one thing I've switched to is Asana rather than Google Task as it allows for a bit more organization as well as shared task lists if you work with a team. Best of luck kicking off your freelance career!
@@ScottBell cool that’s good to know. that Asana has shared lists. Thanks for sharing!
@@yukia.animation Cheers, hope it helps ya!
Experiencing the same here. Gonna look up for more of your vids. Different lives we are in but I felt the path of creatives Ive been experiencing on you. Keep it up and same goes to me.

Awesome video Scott! I just went full time and ive definitely been struggling with this as time goes on
Thanks for watching Matt! It's an ongoing process, anything you've found that's helped you stay on track?
@@ScottBell I need to get up at 6-7 am or I feel unorganized and unproductive haha. Also, preplanning the week and To Do lists are my go-to's! Definitely an ongoing process though. This was a clean video! 👍
I feel those tips. Keep on growing!
Just watched a few of your vids for the first time. Subscribed too! Nice work. I do have a question about what type of jobs you do and how you started landing those gigs as you first started out. Would love to hear more about that.
Hey, thanks for watching and the sub! I do a lot of different types of projects but I focus on outdoor adventure and land conservation stuff. But I also do corporate promo type stuff and event filming to make sure I can pay the bills. I think my biggest advice to land work is to network and do work for free on the area you want more work to build up a reputation. Check my video, Doing with for free to get paid.
Great Video! I am glad that I have found this video at the top of youtube search, Thanks youtube. I will follow your workflow for my time management as a freelancer. I will look up for more of your videos. little suggestion if you are open for it Please add little simile in on your face make this video to next level.
Thanks for watching.
Keep it up man! really cool videos!
Where are you based?
Thanks Pedro! I'm on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
@@ScottBell cool, I'm moving to Vancouver soon, I've been working on a lot of stock footage clips recently, are you into that also? I'm sure Vancouver is a great place to do some cool shots
Nice! I used to live in Van but decided I needed a bit slower pace so moved to the Island a few years ago. I do a bit of stock, hard to stay motivated on it. I use Blackbox, you? Definitely some great spots to shoot in this area.
@@ScottBell Same, Just uploaded over 1000 clips recently, this month i got $160, made me want to upload more for the long run... I just upload what i shoot for fun and would edit anyway, metadata is done bu curators, so it's fun doing it anyway :)
cheers man, I'll hit you up when I'm there! haha
That's great! Maybe I should get a curator, I can't stand metatagging.
Girlfriend ! Coffee with your « Girlfriend » ! I always assumed .... ?
