    I will be 60 in Dec. My mother and grandmother thought me how to crochet, New patterns were hard for me because I'm a visual person. Show me something and I'll never forget! But if I have to read a pattern that I've never done, it's very challenging for me. I love that people such as yourself do these videos , because of these videos I can make anything I want. This pattern is for new placemats for my dinning room. Thanks again.

    Was looking for an easy placemat when I found your video. Lovely pattern and texture without being bulky. I’ve always liked the Crab stitch edging & use it to finish most of the small scrap blankets I make for my rescue cats as well as the ones I donate to the local shelter. I’ve been crocheting for 50++ years and still learning.! So appreciate your hint for getting the row end stitches as even as possible - something I have difficulty with depending on the pattern. Excellent tutorial 💝

    This video is 5 years old, but I'm just finding it. I'm about 1/4 of the way through the first placemat, and I'm loving this stitch! I keep pausing to admire it and wondering if it could work for a long jacket. I want to make a cardigan style that would cover my butt and be very warm for outdoor use in place of a warm jacket. I've been in search of the perfect stitch for that. I will keep pondering while I keep working this placemat 😊

    I love these! So pretty! I was making placemats with the Moss stitch and using peaches and cream cotton yarn. I have gotten almost half way with it, but after seeing this stitch I think I may pull it out and do this stitch instead. Just wish I had this pretty yarn instead, but I had already bought the peaches and cream to make placemats a while back. If I do anymore which I am sure I will I will definitely get this sugar wheel from hobby lobby. Thanks so much for sharing and your a wonderful teacher and very talented!!!

    Hi Ashley, love this pattern! I am now on my 3rd of 6 place mats which I am making for my sister in law for her birthday. I couldn't find the same yarn you used in your tutorial but I did find an alternative cotton blend (60% cotton, 40% acrylic) cake which I got from eBay, very soft. Yarn is called Sandy Beach. It was only 3.5 oz, so 1 mat uses 1.5 cakes. Thanks again for your clear instructions. 👍❤️

    Question? When you did the first half double crochet border row, you put three stitches in the first three corners. When you meet up with the start of your first HDC border row, did you put three HDC’s in the last corner?

  • @heidicook2395
    @heidicook2395 Год назад

    Hi Ashley, I'm blind and struggle feeling the "bump" on the back of the chain. Does it really matter if I just use the front of the chain? Also when you speak of the "stitch missed in the row below" do you mean the chain space from the row below? I'm also confused on the border. You were saying to do a double crochet in the crab stitch. I've only seen it with a single crochet. When you say double crochet on the border are you using British terminology? Thanks for answering all my questions, i can't quite see what you're doing and am relying on your verbal descriptions.
    Thanks again! I have been wanting to make some placemats. Your timing of this video is wonderful!

    This is such a beautiful pattern…I am trying it for the first time. I am using yarn that i have on hand I have 100% acrylic I am using 4mm crochet hook I have checked and rechecked my count. I am running in to a problem. My piece is curving. I don’t understand why. My stitches are even with consistent tension. How many feathers should be in each row?

    Oh my goodness, this is absolutely STUNNING Ashlea!!! Your instructions were so clear, and the potential skills to be learned for a beginner seem to be achievable, but stepping this up a notch for a beginner skill set!
    I only watched the video, haven't physically tried this one yet, but one I would definitely consider! Absolutely LOVE the borders, and the steps to create them (maybe I could add some of those to some coasters?)
    I'll have a check out the pattern and the video description, but I'm assuming something like this coukd potentially be modified in size, or perhaps made into more of a square shape than a rectangle? I have a family member with a smaller sized dining table, and they don't currently own very nice placemats or ones of a suitable size, and I am considering surprising them with an upcoming gift.... unless you have a "square" placemat pattern or video you wish to recommend to me, please do if you have a moment!
    Thanks again for another incredible video! 😍

    • @HeartHookHome
      @HeartHookHome  2 года назад +1

      I am glad you like it! This can easily be made a square by either adding rows to make it square, or if you want smaller, do fewer chains...this stitch set is multiples of 2+3

    I just love the stitch. Which makes it look a little thicker, and love the colors, and especially the crab stitch. If I want to make a baby blanket 40x40 with this yarn and this hook size, how many stitches would I need?

    • @Krissyrocksoutloud
      @Krissyrocksoutloud 5 лет назад

      Chain until it measures approximately 40" and end on an odd number of stitches. Depending on how tightly or loosely you chain, I'd either err on the side of caution (a little more than 40", you can always take out extra chains) or do a half double foundation chain.
