@@Kristina-mm9ih I started learning crochet a few months ago and I must say that this new technique she is teaching is much better for me. I used to lose one or other stitch before, but with this new technique I nailed it! 😁 Hope my English was enough to explain 🙈
@martarabello5560 That is what's happening to me. I am brand new to crocheting. Mainly, when I get finished with the chain, then go into an SC, it does not look like the demonstrators.
Oh! This is awesome!! It occurs to me this is a PERFECT way to make simple cords for festival bags-and I don’t think it will stretch! It just so happens I have a stack of festival bags that need straps, so I’m going to play with this. Also, it would be a perfect way to start out anything like tank tops, where you end up with edges where you started with a chain-it’s basically going to make an I-cord edge to launch from rather than a basic chain, and will give edges a professional finish from the beginning rather than having to go back and add something at the end. Brilliant!!
I suppose you could use a spare length of yarn, maybe from the other end of the ball. I know it might be fiddly for the first stitch or two but then you could make it as long as you like. I’m mostly definitely going to practice this. It will make a great beginning for several different projects.
Here's how knitters determine how much yarn we need for a long tail cast on, which should apply to this foundation stitch technique. Wrap your yarn around the shank of your needle 10 times. Then unravel and measure. That's the amount of yarn you need to create 10 stitches. Then you just need to do the math to determine the length you need for the amount of stitches your project calls for. Measure that out from the end, plus about 6 inches (15 cm) - or however much you usually allow. That's where you put your slip knot Or...you can crochet 10 chain stitches, mark the end, then unravel to measure and do the math to get the necessary length.
The cast on you say is wrong, isn’t wrong, people have preferences. No right or wrong, just a different way. So please don’t tell bethose just learning, that they are wrong. Crochet is confusing enough.
@@TheGizardean I’m not worked up about it, I just don’t want others just starting out, to think they have to do things a certain way. I’ve seen so many cast on, magic circles and been asked to show people because they find the videos confusing. Think I’ll do a few granny squares now. Best wishes.

This gives it such a nice straight edge. Unfortunately I have to do a 65 x 90 inch blanket so don’t know how i would figure out the amount of yarn needed on the other end
@@Bikergirl_40 I guess that if you know the measurement that you need, as you do for your blanket, you could make a sample piece, say 10cm, from a measured "tail". Then measure how much you used for your sample length. You’d then be able to calculate how much you will need for your blanket. If a pattern needs 108 chains, then I suppose you could make a sample length of 20 chains, again measuring how much of the tail has been used for the 20 chains and then calculate how much would be required. Would that work, it’s a chain sample rather than a square for a gauge?
I'm chiming in a little late, but if you know how many stitches you're going to chain, you can wrap the yarn around the hook that many times and add about 6in for a tail. So if I needed 100, I would wrap around 20 times and then fold it over on itself 5 times to get the length of 100, and add 6in or so for my tail
So wonderful your technique ! Simple and effective. I saw another way to do the first career, but your way is much better. Thank you very much. From Brazil🇧🇷

@@juliemcintyre8523thanks I’ll try that as I should be starting the blanket tomorrow
I'm chiming in a little late, but if you know how many stitches you're going to chain, you can wrap the yarn around the hook that many times and add about 6in for a tail. So if I needed 100, I would wrap around 20 times and then fold it over on itself 5 times to get the length of 100, and add 6in or so for my tail
tie 2 identical yarn balls together and start to crochet from that knot.

Que maravilla 👍 me encanta como queda la cadeneta. Gracias por compartir tu conocimiento.

When you know something, you know it! I could tell, without watching the video, how much I will love this! Great cover photo. TY for that! ❤❤❤.
Thanks
It's pretty cool a new way to chain a foundation row❤
So wonderful your technique ! Simple and effective. I saw another way to do the first career, but your way is much better. Thank you very much. From Brazil🇧🇷
