      @@HookedbyRobin The way you hold your yarn & hook are the Traditional Irish way of crocheting. I'm self-taught (many, many, many years ago) from multiple reference books brought over from the 'Old Country' (Ireland). That's how it was shown in those images. Like you, I rarely see any others using the technique I use for holding the yarn & hook. I find it to be a very fast way to crochet intricate fibers & stitches. It aids immensely with maintaining even & steady tension on the work piece. This, of course, results in a beautiful project. Many ask me what type of "machine" I use to create my projects => I hold up my 10 fingers, wiggle them, & smile! 😊 🦉

    Hi Robin
    How would I change colours every few rows when doing this stitch? Thanks in advance.

    When you work a project do you crochet as loosely as you do when demonstrating? I am working on adjusting my stitch so it's not as tight but don't know if it needs to be as loose as we are shown when being taught the stitches.

    • @HookedbyRobin
      @HookedbyRobin  3 года назад +1

      If you are a naturally tight crocheter, the easiest and fastest fix is to go up a hook size or 2 😀 That way it forces you to be loose x
      Tension comes with time, don't worry too much about trying to fix it, just enjoy the ride!
      As for my personal tension, I don't do anything different in tutorials vs real life so what you see is my natural tension x

    Perfect tutorial! At least for me! Close up to the camera,tips as you go, in such a way that I can jot them down, instead of going insane stopping, rewinding way too far back, then way too far forward, I know, makes you mental just think about, right? I already worked out the “give it a stretch” tip for myself, so I felt I should go straight to the top of the class, but not really, cos that’s your place! Thank you, Sweetie xx

    Hey robin! 😊 I’ve been watching your videos for years, you’re a great teacher! I am almost finished with a blanket for my son in this pattern (I learned it differently tho. Instead of HDC at the end it’s a DC.) but I have yet to figure out how to put a border on it. Do you have any advice? I hope this reaches you well (and I’m sorry it’s a year later 😅)

      @HookedbyRobin, on the Hobbii Cookie piece, did you double the yarn? I started working on a baby blanket with it, same hook size too, but it doesn’t seem as thick and hefty as your piece does.
