My condolences to you and your family for the loss of your mother. That’s a tough one. 😢🙏 Stay with Crystal and you will learn to make anything you ever thought you couldn’t make. She is by far the best crochet teacher I have ever watched. And as a bonus, she’s the sweetest and most humble person. Wishing you much success and pleasure on your crochet journey.
I'm so sorry that you lost your mom first of all. That is a pain like no other. I'm sorry to hear of your loss, but what a beautiful way to honor her. I got my love of crochet from my Mother as well, who passed away almost 1yr. ago. So I can empathize with you. Best of luck on your journey! 💖🙏
I have real bad brain damage. You have made learning so much easier for me. Sometimes I even learn what you're teaching the first time. That's a big deal for me. Thank you
I love the fact that you are very informative and repeat so I can understand … and so appreciate you have no distracting music playing while teaching ,like most other video sites! Thank you , you are a great teacher ..
Kathy in Missouri here. After the video, I drove to Hobby lobby an hour away. The white/sage/kale Alpaca Twist had been calling my name for weeks. I drove home, and using this stitch, I am halfway through a soft blanket for my mother in law for Mother's Day . Feels like a hundred bunny rabbits on you. Love your videos. Thanks 😊
This is so nice and easy enough for a beginner, which I am. I have watched many Crocheters on You Tube, but I think You really are my Favorite. I understand what Your doing. Thank You for doing these Videos.
I can’t wait to start this blanket! It’s such and nice and easy pattern but it’s beautiful! You’re absolutely my favorite crochet instructor on RUclips! You’re tutorials are so easy to follow and I love your personality and love of life! Thank you again for another great project! ❤️
Kathy in Missouri here. I watched this, picked up my hook, and began a blanket using Alpaca twist (white/sage/and moss border. This stitch made it easy and feels like a hundred bunny rabbits . Thanks 😊
Ty for sharing the Thicket Stitch. Love this. Its a sweet lil stitch, especially with that variegated yarn. Im going to make a note to myself to make some kitchen towels with cotton yarn, as soon as I finish these 3 projects Im working on now. Always something on a hook here, lol.
The yarn you used is perfect for this stitch! Love the way it looks. I’ve seen this as the “Suzette stitch,” but “thicket stitch” is a much better descriptive name. Anyway, thanks for another inspiring tutorial! Gonna have to get some of this yarn & start another blanket using this stitch. Too beautiful to resist! ❤️😁
I have a long cardigan with this stitch made with a Pound of Love and I get tons of compliments on it! It is so easy and works up so fast! I appreciate that you used the Mandala Tweed though... it's nice to see how stitches work up in other yarns.
I’m about to make a long oversized cardigan with this stitch too I’m going to use Caron Simply Soft party yarn cuz I have to have sparkle ✨ Hope it turns out well.
I have made many blankets with this stitch, had no idea what it was called, Its so nice and easy Thanks Crystal for reminding me about it. I guess old age is catching up. Have been planning lap blankets for two of my elderly neighbours.Nice yarn easy stitch , should be nice and quick
I'm not big on making blankets but I needed to make one and I knew if anyone could teach me an easy, pretty, and not bulky blanket ,you could. I love this blanket. It's perfect stitch. Love it. Thank you for teaching us💐💞
I bought some gorgeous bulky 5 yarn and was searching for a new stitch. Despite crocheting for over forty years I cannot follow written patterns, I love this stitch and how easy it is. I'm super excited to see how it turns out. Using premier puzzle yarn in the color Kickball. Thanks for the great tutorial.
Thank you for this tutorial, I am currently making a blanket with this and am loving the ease of the pattern and the stitch is really nifty looking, more complicated than it is.
Found out I am going to be a grandma and I wanted to crochet a blanket for my new grand-baby. Had no idea where to start. Jess from Roots to Refuge recommended your channel and I am beyond thankful. This stitch looks simple enough for me to make a great gift with. Thank you.
Way to many projects. Since I found your site, all I do is your stuff. The best is they are beautiful. Right now finishing the circuit blanket. Almost done. Theo I have another one of yours to do and just decided that this one is the next. Thank you!!
Thank you for this tutorial. I'm a beginner crocheter and wanting to tackle making a temperature blanket this year, but was looking for something other than single crochet for every row. I've been trying different tutorials for different stitches and not having much luck finding something that wasn't going to be do difficult for the task. Then I stumbled across your video and I was able to easily follow along and quickly crochet up a little patch. I'm excited to go start my blanket.
I’m making a baby blanket for a friend with this stitch. Using Caron jumbo ombré (Blossom) and it’s working up beautifully and quick! That’s Crystal for all you do for the crochet community!
“🤩🌺 Paula Allison .. I’m so glad I read your post to Crystal on this tutorial on her Thicket Stitch blanket ! I wanted to make it & had some of the Caron Jumbo Ombré in Blossom .. so after reading how beautifully it was working up for you, I’m making it with the exact same yarn & K(6.5) hook !! I’m so thrilled & thankful for your post 🤗. I wish more people would post what yarn they are using.. because yours sure helped me !! It so pretty !! And the stitch is easy & quick 🤩… Janet from Milwaukee, WI. 🌺🤩”
Oh. My. Goodness...this is the best blanket stitch EVER! I've done plenty of crocheting, but am by no means accomplished and the afghan I am making is working up more quickly than any other stitch I've ever used. The two things I love most are that it is a pretty mindless stitch pattern and the blanket remains VERY straight, which is something that I've really had trouble with in the past. This would be a great stitch for a baby blanket because you could get it done in no time flat! I also learn by watching crochet videos and this tutorial is excellent. I'll try to remember to post a pic when this blanket is done :)
I am so happy I found this … again! I started a scarf and was interrupted and when I got back to it I couldn’t find my notes and couldn’t remember the name of it ….. I am so glad I found it and can finish it!!!! Love this stitch!!!!
I’m using this to make baby blankets using white Premier Basic and lime Premier Basic for a border. Now I need to find a hospital or preemie nursery to donate them. Love the stitch!
Crysral, i love your tutorials. You have taught me several stitches. Your way of teaching is so easy to follow. I do not see very well and your way of describing the stitches has made it possible for me to pass this skill to other friends who are visually impaired. If i could id give you a hug right through my screen. Thank you for this wonderful gift.
Thank you. I kept racking my brain on what to make and our friend just had a baby and I needed a new stitch. I get bored easy. This is perfect. Thank you so much.
I really like making this stitch. Have been making rectangles for charity with it and now am going to try a baby blanket. Thank you for the great video
Thank you SO much! I was getting very frustrated with video after video that i. Was not able to understand (I had an accident 5 years ago and was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia last week), but I found you. Your tutorial was perfect in every way and because of it, my first grandbaby due in March will be rolling in blankets. Thank you again, be well.
I love the thickness of this stitch pattern. I'm going to use it to make your tank top you last posted. For the tube pattern. Thanks for the inspiration!
That’s a very pretty stitch, Crystal! I’m planning on using it to make some dishcloths and my granddaughter a cowl. Her husband is in the Air Force and they moved from Texas to Delaware!! I’m trying to keep them warm with blankets and things to wear to keep them warm!! Thank you, NORMA COLLINS FROM TEXAS
Love this stitch. I had been working on a blanket for almost a year (took unplanned breaks, moved, got a new job which requires a lot of my "free time") i began working on it recently. I was doing a triple stitch. Somehow during this year i forgot where to start the new row. I laid it out and realized i lost stitches in the middle but somehow gained them back. Blanket looks hour glass shaped. I have to start over. .. i decided to find a "quicker, easier" stitch. I began last night (not non stop) but I'm already on row 5. 334 stitches across! Its already looking beautiful. Thank you so mich!
Thanks for the tutorial for this stitch. It’s pretty and it’s simple. I am hoping to substitute it in a pattern for a baby hooded sweater. Now all I need to do is to make sure I can match the gauge!
Been looking for a stitch for baby blanket for the fall (COLD), so wanted a solid pattern... this looks like a good pick! Love the colors for this one and can see this used for a scarf or cowel.
Thank you for explaining and showing a lot of the stitches on the row. Some people just do 2 or 3 and stop. I have memory problems and I can't do complicated stitches because I lose count. My work ends up with holes in it so I don't try complicated fan patterns etc. I wish I could I love them. I like how you go through the stitches slowly and show where the hook has to go so thank you, you are helping me and I appreciate it. 😊
I love this stitch. It looks nice and easy to to. I haven't really used it yet, only made a small sample, but I'm planning to crochet a temperature blanket of my birth year. This stitch seems perfect for it.
I just came from a zipper puff video and plan to use it to make myself a blanket but i was looking for a stich for a couple blankets to sell and this, just the texture it creates, is so interesting to me I'm going to make a blanket as soon as i get done with christmas.
Thank you. This id lovely. Im doing a throw in autumn colours for thr sunroom. Its cold here in northern Ireland in the winter. Love love love it❤🤎🧡💛🤎🤍❤🤎🧡💛
I love this stitch, I just finished a baby blanket doing this stitch. Crystal I'm working on the handles of the felted bag, I'm going around and around and around. 🤣😂😅
2:45 Looked through your stitch tutorials and found this stitch, which is perfect for my needs. I'm making placemats with Comfy Cotton Blend I received in a mystery bag. The stitch is attractive and doesn't require a lot of attention. That's the perfect combination for needlework in the summertime.
Love, love, love this stitch! Just finished a 9.5” square wash cloth in cotton yarn. I’m old, retired and new to crochet. I’m excited! Thanks for explaining it in such an easy to understand way!!
Taught myself to crochet wash cloths last fall. I am inconsistent when crocheting the last stitch on either side. I finally came across your video and I am so glad that I did. I found the video on the thicket stitch and after watching many times felt that I could follow your instructions. I appreciate that you go slow and repeat the stitch and guide me through the stitches. I am pleased with my first (6 inch/40 chains) test piece but I am not picking up the last stitch at the end on each side. My work dips in. Thank you for your video and descriptions - you are the best!
I am actually making a lap blanket for myself, (if nobody takes it from me. LOL). I am making it using this stitch, and I love it. I tried 2 other stitches for this blanket, and I didnt like them. I had done something similiar, before, so I decided to just try this without knowing what I was doing. Funny thing.. i even did the single across the first row like you did. Now I know what it is called. I was calling it the" Patti was frustrated and just made up her own stitch" stitch. The real name is much easier to remember. I love the yarn you used for this. I am making a gradient starting with an unusual whitish yarn, and then shades of glacier greens to dark greens. Idk how it will look, so I may end up using the yarn you did. Thanks for the tutorial, Crystal!
I am going to work on this Thicket Stitch! Not a yarn hog, yay! I’m always looking for patterns that don’t shock when the skein is finished, but we only have a small dish rag. Your tutorial is simple and lovely. I love your choice in colors. Thank you!
Oh my, love this stitch too. I can't decide which stitch to use for the blanket I have to make. I better choose soon. The baby is due in July. Crysyal, thank you for all your tutorials. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I really like that stitch. I am going to make some dish cloths. Later I might try it on a blanket or a lap blanket. Thank you for the tutorial. I like it when the stitches do not use up a lot of yarn. Mary P.
Hi Crystal, This stitch I’ll be making a Afghan. So simple that you don’t have to count. Wonderful! Thank You so much for sharing. I’m going to try to get the yarn you used. Sending hugs and love 😃💖
Cool. This stitch is perfect for the over abundance of chenille yarn I purchased on sale a year ago (No more of that yarn for me. It isn’t very forgiving!!). Thank you for sharing!
I can't stop using this stitch for washcloths and I keep going back to it for blankets. I have Caron Blossom Cakes 2 in 4 different colors and I think I will use this stitch for a nice big blanket. I have been looking for a different stitch pattern for this yarn, but keep coming back to this simple stitch. I love how you let us know if the stitches are yarn eaters or not. Very valuable info! BTW. Thanks for teaching me how to crochet! You are the best!!!!
I love this stitch and have a baby blanket almost finished with this stitch. I broke my hand and can't crochet right now, but as soon as I heal, I'll get it finished. Thanks Crystal for this wonderful stitch. Have a great day!
Love the ombre color change……? I’ve looked at so many videos, trying to find the right stitch for the Wright project with yarn that I already have….. thank you for sharing
My word but your videos are so easy to follow! thanks to you, i am making this into a scarf for a gift and I would not have thought that would be possible as a rank beginner to crochet!
I used this stitch to make blankets last Christmas using the Anniversary Cakes from Michaels. They came out wonderful! Thick squishy and warm. It's a beautiful stitch and perfect for the thicker yarn 😊
I save all your stitch tutorials over the years. I'm back working with this one tonight for a baby blanket. Aran yarn, J hook and it's looking gorgeous so far. 👌💜🇬🇧
Well I watched the tutorial tonight and I'm making my five month old grand son a baby blanket. Nothing fancy and something easy. I live in north Alabama and it gets cold in the winter time. My daughter has lot of beautiful keepsake blankets. The kind that you want to keep spotless forever. That's not what I make. I call it a car blanket. Getting the kids in and out of the cars can be cold. So what i make needs to probably just stay in the car and that way they can just snuggle up while riding to and from day care the grocery store...you get the picture. So im giving this stitch a try instead of making a big granny square. Plus I use very colorful yarn to help learn their colors.
I am using this Stitch with a Caron ombre called white water to make a throw/lapghan for my sister. I love it! Such an easy stitch and repeat. Thought I could attach a picture here but guess not. I just started crocheting last fall and have learned a lot from your videos. Thank you!! Recently found your blog and am enjoying those videos as well.
I love that in every video you emphasize that the “chain one” doesn’t count as a stitch. I learned how to crochet by reading a book. It was difficult to follow at times. I wasn’t sure if I should go though the whole stitch or just a part of it. It is so much easier to work when I’ve got a person to watch. I just ordered some rainbow yarn and might very well use this stitch for it. Thanks so much!
Hey you, and my favorite one to turn to when I want a simple stitch. Making throws for family. This stitch is my favorite. The thicket stitch. No matter what yarn used, it turns out awesome. My trows that I make will be given to my very special peeps. Family, friends and anyone that has thrown a kindly "HELLO" Some one that knows me as I walk into a business. whether it be a gas station, or maybe even a comment in Walmart. Or the waitress that give us a beer after a long days work. You all are appreciated, so very much. This is why I crochet.........to give back. when you give an almost stranger a hand made throw. It will mean the world to them. And they will never forget the moment.
I am a guy. My mother passed away a month ago. She was a great knitter. Weeks before she fell ill to the hospital I expressed to her my interest in learning how to crochet. wish we could add photos . Im on my third baby blanket with this pattern . ♥️

I love these simple stitches for blankets. They are just as pretty as the harder ones.
I made baby wash cloths with this stitch. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for letting me know this stitch isn’t a yarn eater! I’m more likely to use it for a baby blanket or even a top now. Love your channel 😊

Love love love it❤🤎🧡💛🤎🤍❤🤎🧡💛
I started a baby blanket with it… no holes for little fingers to poke through… nice easy stitch and looking good!
I think I will try to make a prayer shawl out of this stitch. It looks easy and fun.
Thank you Crystal. I'm sitting here working in a blanket for my granddaughter and thinking of all the projects I can do with this stitch.
Love this I love the one row repeat
Taught myself to crochet wash cloths last fall. I am inconsistent when crocheting the last stitch on either side. I finally came across your video and I am so glad that I did. I found the video on the thicket stitch and after watching many times felt that I could follow your instructions. I appreciate that you go slow and repeat the stitch and guide me through the stitches. I am pleased with my first (6 inch/40 chains) test piece but I am not picking up the last stitch at the end on each side. My work dips in. Thank you for your video and descriptions - you are the best!
I like this stitch, looks easy and won't take as long to make a blanket. These tutorials are great and there's no one around to judge.
I'm stalking all ur stitch tutorials to get ideas for one of ur contests. I just had to say that yarn is gorgeous!!
I'm so happy I found you 💛. I have 4 baby blankets to make. I don't like plain Jane blankets and I have been searching for patterns. Thank you 😊
I am actually making a lap blanket for myself, (if nobody takes it from me.
Thankyou Crystal im actually doing this stitch at the moment im making a scarf .😊😊❤❤
I am going to work on this Thicket Stitch! Not a yarn hog, yay! I’m always looking for patterns that don’t shock when the skein is finished, but we only have a small dish rag.
Your tutorial is simple and lovely.
I love your choice in colors.
Thank you!
I have been learning a lot of stitches from your tutorials. I’m gonna make a baby blanket with this stitch.
Crystal I love this stitch. It’s simple and beautiful and you make it so clear and easy to follow. That’s why I love your tutorials. Thank you!!!
Absolutely agreed 🥰❤️ it is, as they say crocheter's kiss 😜😘
I love, love, love, your tutorials!
Actually think it would be really pretty as a rug but with the right yarn it just hit me when I was looking at the video again
it’s awesome!
My word but your videos are so easy to follow! thanks to you, i am making this into a scarf for a gift and I would not have thought that would be possible as a rank beginner to crochet!
Going to try ths for pillow covers for Spring. Thanks for the tutorial Crystal. Your awesome. ❤️
Oh great idea! Thanks💜
I love that this is not a yarn eater. I have been making dish towels and dish rags.
I'm still working on the mini bobble stitch you taught us but I have the perfect yarn for another baby blanket for this stitch!
Hi. Crystal. I. Love. This. Stitch. I. Have. Made. So. Many. Blankets. Using. This. Stitch. Scarfs. The. Yarn. You. Are. Using. Is. So. Pretty. Thank. You. For. Another. Great. Video.
You make everything so easy. I think this could be a future placemat set. Thank you for being you. ❤🧶
Very pretty stitch! Ty Crystal ❤️❤️❤️
