While looking for the right yarn to make a project today, I was at Hobby Lobby and a lady asked me if I crochet, which I told her I do. She was new to crochet and wanted to practice making stitches by crocheting a dishcloth. I led her to the I Love This Cotton. She wanted some help by watching how the stitches are made and I told her about your site, Crystal. She subscribed right away. I told her that you were a very good teacher and would teach her a lot about crochet
Right on ladies! I send on patterns now n then. I discovered a skein of fab frosty green. One of those hidden gems. Gonna make me some holiday cheer. Many blessings ya'll! If more people were crocheting I bet there would be a lot more peace n love on this planet. 😁
I love watching you. I can understand your teaching. November I found out I have a very rare cancer. Now when I go to check my bloodwork, now I am taking in crochet hats for the other patients. Winter is moving in and it’s really cold. When you don’t have hair it’s worse. And I made it in to Joann’s today and got some yarn. Thanks for telling us about the sale. Blessings to you and your family.
Hi! So sorry about your illness!!! But you are doing something so positive, making hats for the other patients! I’m sure they are thrilled!!! Know they were made w/love!!! I hope you get better real soon!!! Prays coming your way!!! ❤️
Prayers for you to get better very soon. How beautiful your soul is to face this challenge by showing love to others. God bless you and prayers that everyone gets well❤️🙏🙏❤️
One row repeat, no multiple and looks the same on both sides. Who could ask for anything more 😊 Love the look of this and has a nice straight edge too. Thanks for another great stitch Crystal!
I lIke the half double crochet st but *this is so much cooler looking! It's a 1 row, mindless, beautiful look for *any project... You did it AGAIN CRYSTAL!
Hey Crystal, just wanted to take a moment to day thank you for all that yoy do for all of us! You are so eay to watch and I never hesitate to tell newbies about your channel as I believe you are one of the best teachers on You Tube. Slow enough for newbies but not so slow that more experienced get impatient. Just wanted to say thank you for giving so much of yourself to us. May God bless you as abundantly as you have blessed us.
I like this one. Easy, fast, reversable, no stitch count needed, just chain to desired width. For this stitch though, like the moss stitch, I will use a bobby pin on the chain1 at end of rows. No missing them that way. And bobby pins work easier than stitch markers. 🙂
My son wants me to crochet an Oregon duck colored afghan for his Christmas gift so I went on the hunt for crochet stitches. I wanted to use something a little different and I ran across your tutorial for this Knotted Half Double Crochet tutorial. I love this it's easy but cool looking and I love that it looks the same on both sides, and I subscribed to your channel. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks Crystal, for once again teaching an old dog another “trick”. What a great stitch! When I re-entered this wonderful world of crochet earlier this year with only the basic skill of simple sc & dc, never in my wildest dream would I ever dream I’d be able to do the stitches & projects you have taught me! Nor would I have thought that I could even anticipate your next move on a limited amount of these things. I can even watch some clips that show up on my Instagram of crochet & know what stitch they are showing with their music.😃 Amazing myself when I’m crocheting, that I no longer have to rewind your tutorial for the tenth time or refer to the pattern I bought just for back up, & I can just crochet with confidence & with sheer ease & enjoyment! Thank you sweet lady for sharing your time & talent with us! ❤❤
Great stitch! I think I will incorporate this with another stitch for a scarf. I have to tell you again how much I appreciate how you teach. You use a white background which really helps, you show us close up, you pull the stitches apart and really show us where to place the stitch and you don't rush. You are the best teacher out here! I always tell fellow crocheters about your channel. Wishing you a beautiful day.💖🥰
You’re the best teacher I’ve ever encountered and I’ve been crocheting over 50 years. So that’s saying something! Keep up the great work! And thank you!
By watching your video, I you taught me a beautiful new crochet stitch; half double knot stitch. I had so much fun. You were a fantastic instructor. I was able to follow your instructions without much difficulty. The video was close to the camara and easier to watch your instructions. Your voice was slow and clear. I felt repeating the stitches was important while following your crochet technique. After following along with your instructions and finishing two rows, I was excited. It looked just like yours on the video. I agree it is a beautiful stitch. Thank you for sharing your video and instructions. I will continue my crochet half double, knot stitch, while continuing to crochet my blanket. After completing my project, I will present it to my family member, as a gift with pride 😅 Thanks to you. I am looking forward to watching your instructions again and learning how to crochet a border. Blessings and again thank you for your informative crochet video 🎉❤
I've been looking at you for a few years now and I still think you're the best I'm 78 and I haven't been crocheting but I'm going to do this stitch .Thank You so much.❤😂😂😂
I watch several tutorials but, yours are always the easiest to follow. I love how slow you go with every stitch. I consider myself an intermediate but with a new stitch, we are all beginners. Thank you, sweet lady.
Love this pattern. Great for what my daughter and I want to do. We are going to take our scraps and make blankets for the humane society. There are no holes for paws to get caught on. Your videos are so easy to understand. Thank you so much.
This looks like it would make a nice warm blanket it cardigan. Not to mention the stitch is beautiful. Thank you for this tutorial. I love the nice straight edge. It had a finished look on its own.
- I have been crocheting since I was 5 years old in 1962 and I have never came across this stich! 😃 I'm going to use it for a tote bag, I think. Thank You!!! 🤩 /Lisbeth from Sweden 🇸🇪
Thank you for showing us how to recognize the chain at the end of the rows, in order to obtain straight, clean edges. and....Thank you for attaching instructions for making a hat 🤸.
I just wanted to say Thank you! I am self-taught beginner crocheter and have been looking for new patterns. I REALLY like and appreciate how you explain everything while also being to the point and now drawing it out. I look forward to this blanket I'm about to begin, and also checking out your other videos. Again, much thanks!!!
I just recently started crocheting again after learning from my grandmother when I was 15... 40 years ago. Took a minute to get my groove back. I've discovered the plethora of hooks, smorgasbord of yarn, and abundance of book choices that we didn't have back then, lol. So, now I've started searching on line for some visual tutorials which we also didn't have and I happened upon your channel and this tutorial, specifically. Bravo! Your explanations and demonstrations are clear and concise. They are paced and repeated perfectly for anybody at any level to follow along successfully. I look forward to searching your database for more. Thank you
I ow you are a fantastic teacher!! Someone was I was watching said this stitch was confusing but after the watched your video, you know I can make this!! Ty queen for the wonderful teaching of crochet stitches and how easy u explain them!! ❤
I’m loving this stitch and it is super fast and way easier than the half double crochet stitch, which is also my least favorite stitch. Somehow this stitch is much easier. Thanks so much for sharing this pattern. ❤
This is beautiful! ...And easy and works up quickly. My new favorite stitch. And yes, I agree about being able to watch tv doing it, because it's easy... Looks the same, back and front, and one row repeat. Thank you for this sweet tutorial! ✨️💖✨️
I love this stitch. I was trying to think of a good stitch for a very warm New England winter type blanket. Thank you, Crystal! You came through for me once again and at the perfect time!
I love this stitch, and I think I will make a set of placemats for a friend. I have raved about you to others and recommended you highly. You are the best teacher, Crystal!
Thank you, Crystal!! I was looking for a stitch to use with a herringbone for a blanket; had to be easy, had to have no multiples and most importantly - had to look the same on both sides. This one ticked all the boxes. You’re the best!!
Hi Crystal just want to say Happy Thankgiving I’m Thankful for all that you teach not just crochet. This Daisy the lady you answered an email about two years ago. yes I’m crocheting now also. God Bless you and family💕
Hi Crystal…. Thank you for the new stitch. I am making my son a 90” wide blanket for his bed. I picket out 5 colors chocolate brown, off white, goldenrod, garnet and navy blue. I want the blanket to be 90” to 100” long. It will have pieces 90” x no more than 10” connected together. Each segment with have a different stitch or pattern. I saw this in a book and thought it would be a great way to learn new stitches and possibly some mosaics. Thank you for all of the stitches you have taught me. Love this channel🌻🧶❤️🌼🌼
I have always loved watching you I am a new crocheter and I made a blanket for my husband with one of your tutorials! ❤I am going to try this stitch next for a friend on mine that is a truck driver!! Thank you so much for all that you do and your great work and how you explain things very well! ❤
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was trying to find a stitch I could make a scarf for my daughter's birthday. She wants one that's a more solid stitch and I wanted one I could relax with. You solved our dilemma! 😊
Thank You Crystal 💐 that truly is a wonderful stitch that I have never seen before, I'm doing a double strand afghan for someone & I think they are going to love it 🥰 thanks to you🌷💖
Simply beautiful and I can’t get over how bone straight the sides are. No need for a border whatsoever. Love it. Will def. be making a few things with the stitch, but first a wrap for my teenage niece. Thank you Crystal for sharing your knowledge with us. ❤
Thank you! you saved me. I was trying to follow a written pattern and its tutorial on this stitch and wasn't getting it. Found your tutorial and got it no problem. You are so thorough!
Love this stitch and it’s so easy and fast to do! I love the way you teach also, no guess work on where you put your stitch, it’s clear and precise as you show it! GREAT JOB!
I love watching your videos of crochet stitches and patterns. You make it look so easy. You teach so wonderfully well by explaining each step. Love your channel.
I like how neat and clean each row looks, I just learned I have been over tightening my rows and making myself frustrated because I cannot see what I am doing. I also need a bigger handled needle to keep me on track. Thanks!
Thank you, Crystal. I agree that this is a very pretty and fast stitch to make. I'm going to watch the link to the hat using this stitch right now. I plan to use this stitch for the hats I made. I've sent so many people to your site for your tutorials and yarn content. Your channel was my very first RUclips video, and I made one of your baby dresses. (Actually, it wasn't even a video back then, just audio.) My 11 year old granddaughter is now using your tutorials as well. You are an amazing instructor and you are very easy to follow. I especially like the lack of background music, because it makes it easier to actually hear what you are saying. Background music can be very distracting, in my opinion, while someone is learning something new. Thanks so much for all that you do for us.
When I worked this stitch in the Landslide beanie I liked it in the round so much I knew I needed to make a hat using several rows of it. It's like an abbreviated trinity stitch but provides a totally different result!
Hi Crystal, you always come up with great tutorials. I don't know where you find the time to do it ,but I do appreciate all your tutorials and your love and passion for this community. You're getting close to one million. I'll be there when you do. Hugs 🫂 Donna 💙💙💙💙💙
Hi Crystal, I just went to order the Mona Lisa yarn in the Merlot, and they were out of it. They will notify me when they get it back in stock. Thank you for the review of that yarn. It's beautiful. Thanks again.
I've been crocheting 63 years. I'm not a show-me person. I learn by reading. I don't understand that we are going to drop a stitch, have 3 left when I only have 3 to begin with. I would really like to learn this stitch. Maybe I can find it on the Internet with less words. instance rowinstance
I really enjoy your videos. Your style and personality are more my "cup of tea" than that of most other designers. You're regular folk, and I am, too. Thanks for all your hard work and for sharing your talent and expertise with the masses!
I’ve been hunting for a stitch that would show through my LB Ice Cream Roving yarn and I had some of a different color left over from a previous pattern, and this one is perfect. Thanks Crystal.
Yes you are I love the way you teach/ explain your patterns you do a great thank you. As go this stitch I love it one of your many beautiful patterns thanks again.
I did not even know I was missing out on this stitch! It does work up quick and I love it. Thanks so much for another great Tutorial and helping to keep my love of crochet fresh and exciting.
I love this stitch. I actually love the half double crochet so I'm thinking I could actually enjoy making a blanket of this stitch. My problem is I do get a little bored when trying to make a full - blanket sized project. This looks fun though, maybe in a variegated yarn to break up the colors! Thank you again for sharing your skills with us!
Thank you for this tutorial. I've been wanting to work something up with it since your hat tutorial. Which, by the way, my husband loves! Thank you again, Crystal 🧶💚
I'm using a similar stitch on a blanket right now, except once you have 5 loops on the hook, you pull through 3, then yo and pull through the last 3, so this will be even faster! I also use the alt turning chain on all my blankets, rather than chaining, nice option for a beautiful edge! Thank you!
I loved making the knotted half double crochet stitch. It went so fast and I loved the look. I made it with bulky yarn (5) and used a M (9 mm) crochet hook.
I am on my 7th afghan with this stitch. You are right, it goes so fast. I have used all the same yarn on most of them. I used two colors on two of them.
How much yarn would a person need to buy to make a Afghan with this stitch? I’m looking at doing an Afghan for the first time and do not know how much yarn to buy.
Thank you! I was looking for another stitch that would work up quickly for a scarf. I was getting bored with the one I was using! Sometimes, the North Texas winters can get really cold, so this nice thick scarf will be an ideal addition to my collection. I've started it in a Red Heart with love yarn. I'm hoping I will have enough using just one ball, which is 315 yards.
I am loving this stitch. Easy to do without having to give it aLOT of thought. I seem to get distracted alot This one is easy for me to be able to pickup ware I left off.
That is a very pretty stitch. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate your tutorials and how you take the time to really explain and show exactly where the hook goes and what you are doing.
Very pretty stitch! I want to make a scarf for my 16 year old grandson and plan to use Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn which I hope is not too bulky for a scarf. Will try it out today!
Thanks so much for sharing this simple stitch. I am about to teach my daughter how to crochet. This stitch will definitely be one of the first I'll share with her. I love it!! Again, thanks, Crystal. You are awesome!! ❤
I was looking for an easy baby blanket pattern and I think thus will be perfect. Of course, I will make a border around it. Thank you for this pattern!

I, too, have recommended Crystal to many new crocheting beginners. ❤
I think you gave her very good advice!

Wow, this is even easier than the linked HDC that I use for all of my dishcloths! I’m excited to try this for kitchen gift sets. Thank you!
Good idea, thanks!

Queen of the One Row repeats! Thanks Crystal 🥰
I just recently started crocheting again after learning from my grandmother when I was 15... 40 years ago. Took a minute to get my groove back. So, now I've started searching on line for some visual tutorials which we also didn't have and I happened upon your channel and this tutorial, specifically. Bravo! I did not even know I was missing out on this stitch! It does work up quick and I love it. Thanks so much for another great Tutorial and helping to keep my love of crochet fresh and exciting.
I just LOVE your tutorials!!! Thank you so much for helping me grow my craft… hobby… The thing that brings peace to my mind. You are a blessing!!!
Thank you!
Crystal, you truly are the Queen!!! Thank you, I love this stitch and all the other 1,000000000 of your great videos!!!!! Xoxo
I really like this stitch and have never seen it before. Thank you for a great tutorial!
I loved making the knotted half double crochet stitch. It went so fast and I loved the look. I made it with bulky yarn (5) and used a M (9 mm) crochet hook.
Crystal I love this stitch. It Is so fun and easy to do thank you for showing us how to make it.😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you Crystal.
I absolutely love working with this stich.
I had never heard of this stitch before.. Thank you for teaching us.
I love that stitch.
That is a very pretty stitch. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate your tutorials and how you take the time to really explain and show exactly where the hook goes and what you are doing.
Just finished learning the linen stitch and decided to learn this. SUPER excited to make a blanket out of this stitch!
Very pretty stitch! I want to make a scarf for my 16 year old grandson and plan to use Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn which I hope is not too bulky for a scarf. Will try it out today!
I love, love, love this stitch. Thank you so much for showing it to us. I love your incredibly creative mind!!! ❤️🧶❤️
Thank you,
Your tutorials are always easy to fallow. When I'm looking for a new stich you are my go to. Again Thank You
Hdc is one of my favorite stitches, I love this pattern.
Thanks so much for sharing this simple stitch. I am about to teach my daughter how to crochet. This stitch will definitely be one of the first I'll share with her. I love it!! Again, thanks, Crystal. You are awesome!! ❤
Thanks Crystal!! Will try it using one of the red heart ombre. Going to make it into a runner for my sofa table.
I was looking for an easy baby blanket pattern and I think thus will be perfect. Of course, I will make a border around it. Thank you for this pattern!
Chrystal is the very best "teacher"❤
I love this stitch!! So fast and looks difficult but isn't!! Thank you for your wonderful patterns and taking time to teach us 😊
