Absolutely beautiful! Something shuts down in me when I look at a crochet pattern and try to make sense of it but watching your tutorials I can follow and make beautiful things! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
For our beginner crocheters - just a little clarification... although you START by chaining an EVEN number, when you work the single crochet back you will end with an ODD number of stitches - you haven't done anything wrong. For instance, you chain 20 (even), and then work the first row of single crochet back, you will have 19 stitches across. This is correct! :)
The reason you lose a stitch - going from 20 to 19 - is you work the first sc into the 2nd chain. This is important to understand if you work up a foundation single crochet, which I prefer for color changing yarns.

@@theresespencer2827 Yep, exactly. Also something to keep in mind if you DON'T do a "foundation row" of single crochet... like if you are switching to this stitch from another stitch pattern in a project that you are designing yourself.

This stitch is just what I was looking for. My 15 yr old chi is always cold and needed a new blanket. She only weighs 7 lbs so I wanted a pattern that wouldn't be too heavy but still kept her warm. This is perfect and is so pretty. Thank you Crystal!

@@MarciaB12 That's a shame. Keep trying and one day it will click. Do you use a stitch marker at the beginning and end of a row? I still do most of the time. It lets me know exactly where to put the first and last stitch.
@@MarciaB12 I put my stitch marker into the stitch as soon as I've completed it. I put it in through both loops of the stitch that rests just under the loop on the hook. I hope that makes sense. I would be easier to see in a video rather than reading words about how to do it.

Though this is not a pattern I want to use, you are my absolute favorite on RUclips to learn patterns from. Right now I’m 3 1/4 off the way finished with a big 3d seashell puff stitch. Soon I’ll be using another of your patterns and several projects from now I’m planning to use your pattern for motifs for a big body blanket for my sister. Thanks for saying in the ones that look intimidating I know this looks complicated but if you can do a double crochet, you got this. You tend to say that right about the time I’m about to say I can’t do that
