Did anyone notice how he never takes credit for a performance, but always praises the director in every case? This is the kind of person Nick Cage really is. Authentic and humble.
I had the pleasure of working with him for only a brief period of time, in a nothing part. But six months later, when I ran into him at the premier of "Honeymoon in Vegas," not only did he remember me, BUT EXACTLY WHAT I WAS WEARING!! I attributed this to only three possible things. First, that he was incredibly impressed with my acting. Second, that he had a photographic memory. Or third, that he was just an extraordinarily thoughtful person. I think it was just his super human memory and attention to detail, but I like to fantasize that it was all three. This is a truly fine actor and sweet man, a rarity in Hollywood.

I do also agree with you about him loving the art of acting. Its nice to see him in some indie type films and I think that probably helps other actors and directors to get there foot in the door to get bigger budget films in the future. I'm not sure about his personal like and it really has nothing todo with any of us. This really helps understand his motivation behind a lot of the movies. His focus is on freedom of bodily expression, specifically erratic expression, and taking it to extremes. If he had stayed in the indie scene, he might've cultivated a whole different title, probably as some sort of indie legend. But because he was featured in so many blockbuster hollywood films, his acting was seen more as ridiculous and obscene, rather than artistic and layered. I have to say though, even if we do make fun of him, he brings a whole new heightened level of reality and multi-dimension to his characters that all of the movies he's in are always really entertaining.

I've no idea what German expressionism is is just thought it was an amusing uninformed comment. You know the old yes joke.

Nic Cage is one of those people who even if the movie he is in sucks he is still entertaining. I could listen to him talk about every film he made I wish he had talked about some more of his films like 8mm which I thought was one of his best performances and an underrated movie.

True when I was a kid in France we would watch loads of Jackie chan and nicolas cage films, even though the films or directors weren't great the actors star powers and charismas would carry it

Pig is my favorite movie. Seriously. Made me cry at the end. I loved the depth in the characters and the writing. Well done!

Most underrated Cage film is Family Man. Tea Leoni, Jeremy Piven and a young Don Cheadle were great. I watch it every year around Christmas since 2003.
